Yes, every other A-League side also looked forward to playing Newcastle this year, but in general I don't think an Australian side would expect to beat a Chinese side, especially in China. Chinese clubs have bigger budgets and better players, plain and simple.

In last year's ACL Adelaide drew 0-0 both times against the Chinese Side (I think Shandong, but I could be wrong) and I think were would have been happy to get the draw both times.

Had China won it, they might still have been in contention for he final game, which as it was, was a dead rubber. Australia was already through and China had already been knocked out. Australia played a reserve side because the result mattered little. So, to say Australia did nothing about it, is not true at all.

Beijjing dominated the first 30 min or so. There are 30 minutes between 35 and 65 not shown here which Newcastle dominated possession but couldn't make many chances. It would have been a deserved point had Petrovski not missed the sitter right near the end but thats football.
