  • If Edmund died from lung cancer, I wonder if he might've been a smoker? Somebody in the know, please let me know. God bless ya, for your efforts!

  • @DaveWollenberg I originally thought that as well but than one of his kids said he wasn't! Non-smokers get it as well although we aren't programmed to really think that b/c of the smoking stigma. But its just like any other cancer...it can just happen regardless. Very sad.

  • This was remade for a Greatest Hits LP (as was Life In the Fast Lane and Rocky's Theme), which my family owned from 1981 until 1983 in southwest Detroit. I only remembered the remade version.

  • dont forget to like their page on facebook and join their message board at yahoo groups for updates, pics, rare performances, and to find out more facts about the fam as well for up and coming projects....

  • LOVE The Sylvers and this song! Though I'm glad this was made in the 70's. I cringe to think how this would go in today's music state:

*cue hip-hop beat and autotune* We're gonna GRIIIIND at the high school dance...*cue rap verses and endless "tap-dat-ass" lyrics* XD

Trust me, I just got out of high school and I've seen it. ALL of it.

  • Back in the day, kids weren't fat..we were too busy dancin'...every week you better learn a dance on Soul Train so we could do it @ lunch time...the whole yard would be dancing..it was fun! LOL

  • @DoUWanna007

Their fat today because they have no music to dance to. The music today has no beat, no soul, no rhythm. None of the music today makes you want to get off of the sofa. Now back in the day a song like this; you couldn't help but get up and dance.

  • @MIMI88998899 u got that right. A whole generation lost. But if we teach them the old way, maybe they will start dancin' ... let's hope so:)

  • Leon Sylvers is killin' on that bass!

  • if any has the video of sing this plz post it,,,,,,thanks

  • @weezy11972 On the series Unsung there was footage of the Sylvers singing that song. I wished TV One would release it separately. I didn't know it existed and I lived when that song was recorded.

  • The Sylvers were/are bad asses... nice cut.

  • im 18 and im feeling this!

  • Respond to this video... I hope comprises a montage of the performances of all of this seasons featured artists especially the sylvers!

  • Wheeeew! I just got an awesome work out on this song. Many thanks to Unsung and to the Sylvers. I forgot about this jam. After seeing Unsung I just couldn't get this song out of my mind. The beat is pumping. Love it!!! This song is now part out of my workout. I just play it about 5 times or more in a row and get a nice workout. The vocals are so clear and the beat is awesome. Dance at the high school dance.

  • It only costs a dollar-50 cents if they look human.

  • I guess one person didn't want to go to their High School Dance!

  • Even though I was in seventh grade, that song reminds me of the high school classes of 1977 during the Spring of that year. Oh yes I hope Glee would cover that song.

  • Billboard's #84 song of '77. The Sylvers' hit #6 soul, #17 pop. Edmund turned out be the speakin' voice of Marlon Jackson in the 'J5' cartoon show. Was he a smoker. Died of lung cancer. God bless! RIP, Edmund.

  • OMG...this was my FAV song by the Sylvers, of course I first thought that it was the J5-then I thought wait "did the Jackson sisters join the band or what" then I found out it was another family band called the Sylvers! I know alot of folks compared them alot to the J5-but they were BOTH good in their own ways!

    RIP Edmund Sylvers

    1957-2004

    Peace-

    Donna~

  • You are so right.....The Jacksons and The Sylvers were great!

  • What was the name of the other brother who was 17 years old when he died?

  • That would be younger brother Christopher who died in 1985.

  • The name of the 17 yr. old was Christopher!

    R.I.P.

    Christopher and Edmund

  • It would have been cool if their careers lasted as long as the Jackson 5.

  • I had forgotten this song......brings back great memories! Thanks for sharing it!

  • I am surprised that some Pop Band has not remade this song. It probably would make an instant hit.
