hi thanks for the video, just a little question about you. Have you done any tuition videos at all and and country as to me you sound very country and im trying to get some of the acsents you use in your playing , (very sleak too i might add)
@hohner2010 - Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean by tuition videos? And as for country, yes, I grew up playing a lot of gospel and country licks from guys like Charlie McCoy and Buddy Greene. Will be glad to help you via Skype if you are ever interested in Skype lessons. Thanks for watching and take care!
@roxy0847 - Yes, he is! And he's always been such a nice guy to do business with. You're really fortunate to have a cool dude like Randy as your dad. :)
Todd, I got the SBS. If the wood comb ever goes or I find it isn't that great, I'll make sure to get one of Randy's combs for it. His site even shows an sbs with a corian comb in it. Just beautiful looking. Also, your playing as always is sooo soulful. Love how you demonstrated the harmonicas. I really want to customize my goldens with a lil tweak but I've only been playing for 4 years now so I'm afraid I might break the harps. Were you hesitant when you first opened up your harps???
@jugglerjoe - Thanks! Glad you like my playing. Working on your own harps takes a little practice, but these days there is so much information available online which helps. Randy's combs are really cool aren't they? Thanks for watching!
@aerospacepat - Thicker reed plates allow the reeds to swing at a greater distance, which does contribute to faster reed wear. You have to play them with less breath than normal harps.
Cool combs, I’ve watched quite a few of your videos about custom harps, I still haven’t dished out the bucks to buy one mainly because I still consider myself a beginner and I'm really not sure if it would benefit me at this stage of learning. Just wondering what your take is on custom harps and the beginner harmonica player. Also curious about your technique, tongue block or lip purse? Over draw and over blows seem out of reach for me and looking for any advice you might have.
@75ironhead603 - A custom harp just makes things easier to accomplish, whether it be bends or overblows. I'm a lip purser but use tongue blocking sometimes, but not for single notes - mainly for octaves and splits. That being said, you can still be a great harmonica player with stock harmonicas, but some things won't be as easy to achieve as quickly.

as always, fantastic playing! Do the double thick reedplates have any problem's? Do the reeds blow out more easily or anything?
