  • my mother and father grew up with hank in georgina ala. he and dad were drinking buddies..it got the best of both of them..may they all rest in peace

  • anyone else searching for the family guy clip?

  • thank goodness for: on top of spaghetti...if it wasnt for that song i probably wouldn't ever know this song

  • H ha, I loved the truly corny advertisements at the end.

  • I don't know what you mean by "two bit." This is a heartbreaking song. There's a reason that its popularity was so far reaching. Another one is "I Fought the Law." My cat has a cover version of that one on YouTube.

  • hmmm maybe i should buy some of that mothers cornmeal

  • If only he didnt die at such a young age I would of loved to hear more songs form him

  • best music ever.

  • FANTASTIC -

  • From Brazil! I believe that I have almost all of his songs, but everyday I discover another good song. In my opinion, he is (not was) the greatest country singer ever. I am used to sing his songs out loud all day long! Best way to learn english and train!

  • @bwilsonporto

have you heard "long gone daddy"? listen to it

  • amazing thing about hank he wasnt even from appalch south, instead south alabama. much different culture then appalch w va, nc & east tenn. People who live in the south know how different culturally those 2 regions are w/in the south. hank grew up in an area of the south where delta blues & new orleans dixie land jazz would be heard on the corners of his youth. Yet here he completely taps into deep appalch mtn music. nails it w/ that scot/irish mtn blue tone. this guys ear & voice were amazing.

  • I suddenly really want some mother's best corn meal, put it on some onions and grill them up a little, yum

  • who disliked this??? im 15 and love this and will continue to the day i die

  • shrooooommms

  • Miss Audrey was the only woman who sounded like she belonged

when she and Hank did a duet. Yes i've heard others ,but Miss Audrey

is the best and if you dont believe listen to them do "Dear Brother".Her vocals

have been kicked from stem to gudgeon, but damn i love them. Hank needs

no praise,, he was only perfect.

  • @MrBillfitz It's when she does solos that something odd happens, in my opinion anyway. But as part of the backing, especially for the Gospel songs, she then did very well.

  • yea you gotta love hank williams

  • Mother's best on a Country's best.

  • ABBA has a good version of this

  • Man this is great! Thanks for sharing!

  • The great Hank Williams Sr. None other has touched the multitude as he has . I can only hope my songs will reach a small percentage of those he touched .

  • That ole boy could put a tear on every word sang..just the most painful heartfelt ...kinda always so lonesome..god rest his soul..no dout for me the greatest singer song writer ever.Jimmy Rogers being close second place. thanks for posting this gem. Denis

  • The Master

  • cool

  • Hard to imagine that Hank Williams died in his 20s.

  • VERY unusual to hear Hank sing a traditional folk song. Hank was the reason I learned to play guitar as a kid. I got a guitar one Christmas and my Mom had 2 Hank Williams songbooks from her own earlier aborted attempt to learn to play. She had some of Hank's albums and the rest kind of took care of itself.

  • Awesome song!

    Yes, its true:"But a false-hearted lover,

will you lead you to your grave"

    Kind Greetings from Germany

  • HANK VS SATAN

  • i want corn bread now

  • No one will ever reach the hearts of the forelorn as Hank Sr. did . He had the ability to reach the inner most feelings of people .

  • @james28570 yes he did i miss him he was my cousin he will be missed

  • i love this song! This Song Speaks The Truth Of My Last Relationship.

  • this is a good song i like it

  • i enjoy the advertisement more than the song

  • It make me like this ole song even more!!!

  • Hank Williams is the king of true country/honky tonk music. He's also the king of love/heartbreak songs. Nothing better to listen to when you've got the lovesick blues.

  • this is amazing...speechless...

  • Terrific...of course...but I prefer the Zeke Morris version (check it out).

  • i remember listening to this song when i was little with my dad on roadtrips.

back when cassette tapes were cool ;3

this song and froggie went a courtin.

  • omg i love this song haha

  • Damn...too bad Audrey had to be on this one, hell...it might have been another big Hit, for old...Hank! LOL. Untill she opened her mouth, the song was really sounding great! LOL.

    Don't Hate, Appreciate! LOL.

  • i agree 100% she was horrible,i think jr got his singing abilities form her side of the family...lmao

  • Hank is the spirit of country and western music.

  • When I had a bad break up this song and a bottle of Jack really helped me get through.

  • We had a funeral for my first dog, Shia, a border collie, and this was the song we played.

The song brings me to tears, actually.

  • I'm sorry for your loss. A wonderful tribute.

  • @EllesVideoVault Blue is a great song about a dog as well. One of my amazing Australian Shepherds is Blew.

  • Elvis did a bit of this song in his '61 film, "Follow That Dream".

  • I meant what does maligned mean. Thanx fur sharin'!

  • Nice song and commercail! What's maligned? Thanx fur sharin'!

  • i've gotta go get some of mother's best

  • @pendaflux Good luck. From what I understand, they went out of business 30+ years ago.

  • Nothing but pure brilliance!!!!

    Thank you Joshua

  • This nothing least than a historic recording. One for preserving the old time version of how the sung was song by the average people. Two, for show casing the power and realness of Hank as performer. He gave 100 % in it. A rare glimce into the era, and a rare case where is wife singing actually complimented the song

  • haha...im 24 but when i was little we used to sing "on top of spaghetti all covered in cheese i lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed"

little did i know my fathers choice in music would influence me...i love all three generations of hank williams

  • @pattypork We sang it too when I was in second grade, in 1972! The rest of it goes: "It roll 'cross the table and onto the floor. And them my poor meatball rolled out of the door. It went down the sidewalk and under a bush, and now my poor meatball is nothin' but mush." (And then a coda set to a tune that isn't part of the original song.) "So if you eat spaghetti all covered with cheese, hold on to your meatball and don't ever sneeze!"

  • wowowowowowowow ive listen to hank all my 44years never heard this song sung by him, it is fantastic.Thank you for the post.I am a man and i can tear up to hank even without a drink hahahah.

  • In that case, I have some good news for you, in fact for most of those who have commented on this. This track along with several others ( 16 in total I think but not certain ) have now been officially released after many years of legal wrangling. It is on Amazon for sure, and most probably most major shops and sites.

  • Thanks for the info a will look for it for sure!

  • @kelfid well i HAVE had a drink and i'm cryin but thats what the booze does i guess. it's brought to light some issues and gosh at the moment i feel hurt and mopey but this track is medicine for my soul

  • Wow! Hearing this brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye. I used to sing this with my grandmother when I was a little boy. She died 28 years ago last Friday.(4-4-1980) Thank you for posting.

  • see hank sing with anita carter, its magic

  • I heard that Hank wanted to sing this as he heard it as a child, and not the polished up version. Good for us. It is pure real emotion done by Hank. Also, the only time I ever heard his wife actually help a song. This is one that will go to the vaults and be played far in the future to reveal the era and the amazing talent of Hank Williams.

  • Remember my Dad singing this song at the cabin dranking beer Hank was his hero this happened 50 years ago.

  • Cool, I also have all the "Mothers Best Shows" series, (or at least) I think I do.

    *****'s

  • great song by a great man

  • Thanks for the song. I had this song on tape years ago and have lost it. I was born in the same county as Hank and have some of his personal items. Thanks again for this country treasure from the one and only.

  • I've always known that these Mother's Best shows were out there, but have been tied up in litigation. I hope more come out because this is a great reservoir of Hank Williams treasures. Thanks.
