@No1Chriz yea, i hate bootcamp, i always have to exit my skype call.. u need a program called parallel desktop 7.... though i would recommend you use bootcamp. after all using this would require quite a bit of ram since macosx and windows 7 are both running at the same time. srry but mac is not a gaming platform, i just said that it has great specs.

I think the Samsung Galaxy line and Series 9s are much more refined, sleek and adult versions of Apple's iphones and MBAs. That's only my opinion though. I also hate that Apple tries to get you stuck in their "ecosystem" where they try to make you feel like if you buy their phone you have to buy their laptops because they're so uber compatible. But it all comes down to preference in the end and I simply prefer Windows and Android OS over Mac OS and OSX.

Eh... the Series 9 is okay... nice for it's size and all of that, but I find it inconvenient when computer manufacturers work really hard to emphasize portability on laptops and pay less attention to performance. The Series 9 and Macbook Air though are great for this, because they are still more than capable computers for their size, but I'd just rather pay the same amount for a 15-in Macbook (if Apple) or possibly a 15-in Asus (for Windows)... but that's just my two cents.

Lets look at the tablet part of this now, a little over six months later. Nook Colour, e-book reader, done okay, not a true tablet, never came close to iPad. Blackberry Playbook, well RIM is going broke, but it actually may be the number 2 tablet, depends who you ask. Windows 7 tablets, not even on the market. HP Touchpad, well lets just say it went the way of the Dodo Bird. Android, Moto XOOM? Sucked, Tab 10.1, cant be sold, everything else? Not really competing. iPad is the champ... still.

@bro589 I'm not able to say this for sure, but rumors are that Windows 8 fixes most of the touchpad issues with PC laptops and that functionality will most likely mirror that of Apple's touchpads... we'll see I guess. Apple's touchpads are awesome, but I could see how a massive OS overhaul like Windows 8 could fix the problem and level the playing field.
finally got my hands on one (samsung laptop) for a little time. it really looks cool, being sleek and thin and all. but my first impression was how friggin tiny it is. i know it says 13 inch... but that was a bit offputting

I know it can get annoying, but hey, if the product is similar to another laptop, I would like to know the pros and cons of each so I can make a more informed purchase. I'm sure a lot of people will ask, "So how does this compare to the air?" and they're just want to address that. It's better they do, than deny the popularity of Apple. And I don't think they were biased. Simply comparing something to Apple doesn't mean they favor Apple.
@hot1ace Well, the Series 9 was created in response to the Macbook Air. Basically, if the Macbook Air didn't exist, the series 9 wouldn't exist. No product exists in a vacuum . I don't think it would be a good review if it wasn't compared to the pretty obvious major competition, the Macbook Air. Now a buyer can decide which one they like best.

@lettucehead999 Looks are subjective; I think the X1 looks way better than any other overly metallic thin and light on the market. In terms of it not being thin and light enough: Lenovo's first priority is to make sure the Thinkpad remains tough as shit and retains Mil-Spec. Is the Series 9 Mil-Spec? Nope. Bang the two laptops around the X1 will survive perfectly fine while the Series 9 won't even turn on. Also every review has said the keyboard was phenomenal.
Okay fair play, looks are subjective indeed and the lenovo is a fuckload tougher than any of the other options, so if that's what you're looking for then sure go ahead and get the X1. As far as the keyboard goes, the keyboard keys ARE nice but what I meant was I don't like the layout at all, for example the small return key is quite annoying. but sure if you want a tough laptop the lenovo is best
@lettucehead999 Fair enough if you don't like the layout of the keyboard; I personally can't stand Canadian keyboard layout (the Enter key is oversized and the Shift key undersized). For me the only real negative on the X1 is the ~5 hour battery life, but I'm willing to overlook it because of the rapid charge battery. Still having trouble deciding if I want to get one though...
@lettucehead999 And pay twice the price for the same level of performance while having NONE of the durability that comes from a MIL-SPEC product? I don't have that much money to just throw around and price-performance is a pretty big metric when it comes to buying a laptop. In other words: the Sony Vaio Z series is way overpriced. You won't be able to find a 13" laptop with the same power and durability as the X1 for the same price. Period.
Additionally, the Series 9 has some substantial advantages. Slightly better battery life in most reports, although this isn't agreed upon. More standard and better ports. Backlit keyboad. And most importantly: the series 9 has a matte screen. I'm sure when trying to use the MBA outdoors you'll be glad you paid $1300 for a mirror.
Actually you can get the B01 model of the Series 9 which has a 1.6 processor and costs 1300 dollars. I am debating whether to get the Series 9, mostly held back by reservations about WiFi and Linux.

While many ultraportable laptops are beginning to drop embedded disk drives too, but it's mostly for energy and weight, and not value.
@Prostreetcrazy Unfortunately, while the Samsung 9 was competitive with the MacBook Air when it was released, it is absolutely demolished when contrasted against the newer models. A 1.4 GHz Core i5 works in a pinch, but it cannot hold a candle to the 1.7 GHz Core i5 in the stock 13 inch, and especially the 1.8 GHz i7 upgrade.
And since the MBA is the same price as before (i.e. cheaper than the S9), and can run Windows 7 natively, the S9 isn't a very attractive alternative anymore.

THe highlight is the weight however. This laptop is perfect to drop in your backpack when you are on a bike or travelling. SSD hard disk is VERY fast and computer operates just soooooo much faster than pretty much anything else. I love it :D
Samsung. I'd have considered your Series 9 if it didn't have so much gloss . Stop ruining your products gloss. The only thing I dislike about my Nexus S is the glossy back, it's slippy and a fingerprint magnet, aside from that it's the best phone I've ever used and I've gone through an iPhone 3GS, 4 and a Nexus One.

@bro589 I'm not able to say this for sure, but rumors are that Windows 8 fixes most of the touchpad issues with PC laptops and that functionality will most likely mirror that of Apple's touchpads... we'll see I guess. Apple's touchpads are awesome, but I could see how a massive OS overhaul like Windows 8 could fix the problem and level the playing field.

@hot1ace It's actually pretty helpful sometimes. I know it can get annoying, but hey, if the product is similar to another laptop, I would like to know the pros and cons of each so I can make a more informed purchase. I'm sure a lot of people will ask, "So how does this compare to the air?" and they're just want to address that. It's better they do, than deny the popularity of Apple. And I don't think they were biased. Simply comparing something to Apple doesn't mean they favor Apple.

@hot1ace Well, the Series 9 was created in response to the Macbook Air. Basically, if the Macbook Air didn't exist, the series 9 wouldn't exist. No product exists in a vacuum . I don't think it would be a good review if it wasn't compared to the pretty obvious major competition, the Macbook Air. Now a buyer can decide which one they like best.

@lettucehead999 Looks are subjective; I think the X1 looks way better than any other overly metallic thin and light on the market. In terms of it not being thin and light enough: Lenovo's first priority is to make sure the Thinkpad remains tough as shit and retains Mil-Spec. Is the Series 9 Mil-Spec? Nope. Bang the two laptops around the X1 will survive perfectly fine while the Series 9 won't even turn on. Also every review has said the keyboard was phenomenal.

Okay fair play, looks are subjective indeed and the lenovo is a fuckload tougher than any of the other options, so if that's what you're looking for then sure go ahead and get the X1. As far as the keyboard goes, the keyboard keys ARE nice but what I meant was I don't like the layout at all, for example the small return key is quite annoying. but sure if you want a tough laptop the lenovo is best

@lettucehead999 Fair enough if you don't like the layout of the keyboard; I personally can't stand Canadian keyboard layout (the Enter key is oversized and the Shift key undersized). For me the only real negative on the X1 is the ~5 hour battery life, but I'm willing to overlook it because of the rapid charge battery. Still having trouble deciding if I want to get one though...

I don't have that much money to just throw around and price-performance is a pretty big metric when it comes to buying a laptop. In other words: the Sony Vaio Z series is way overpriced. Additionally, the Series 9 has some substantial advantages. Slightly better battery life in most reports, although this isn't agreed upon. More standard and better ports. Backlit keyboad. And most importantly: the series 9 has a matte screen. I'm sure when trying to use the MBA outdoors you'll be glad you paid $1300 for a mirror.

Actually you can get the B01 model of the Series 9 which has a 1.6 processor and costs 1300 dollars. I am debating whether to get the Series 9, mostly held back by reservations about WiFi and Linux.

@Prostreetcrazy Unfortunately, while the Samsung 9 was competitive with the MacBook Air when it was released, it is absolutely demolished when contrasted against the newer models. A 1.4 GHz Core i5 works in a pinch, but it cannot hold a candle to the 1.7 GHz Core i5 in the stock 13 inch, and especially the 1.8 GHz i7 upgrade.
And since the MBA is the same price as before (i.e. cheaper than the S9), and can run Windows 7 natively, the S9 isn't a very attractive alternative anymore.

THe highlight is the weight however. This laptop is perfect to drop in your backpack when you are on a bike or travelling. SSD hard disk is VERY fast and computer operates just soooooo much faster than pretty much anything else. I love it :D

The only thing I dislike about my Nexus S is the glossy back, it's slippy and a fingerprint magnet, aside from that it's the best phone I've ever used and I've gone through an iPhone 3GS, 4 and a Nexus One.

hi, may be you are right. samsung's cpu and ram will faster than i5 but to get the best performance of the device is not only hardware but also software. only the faster cpu alone is not enough to drive pc to super fast. anyway samsung just copy the idea from apple just like keyboard light and mouse pad. i'm not apple fan and i'm a pc user recently and switch to apple. if you had never used mac then you will not know the tast of apple forever. apple is unique.
