  • they need a allan wrench guard on the back of that guitar, thats a disaster in the making

  • @skepticalsight Allen.

  • If you go to MelodeeMusic in Leesburg VA, don't believe anything he says. He'll say whatever will get you buy inventory that isn't moving if he thinks he can fool you. I have short fingers & he convinced me that a wider neck is easier to play with short fingers & I spent 2 hrs there & ended up spending over a grand on a Martin that has the widest neck they make.

  • I have a couple of Martins and a Babicz. I wonder if I can unbolt the neck completely off the Babicz to take it onto an airplane as carry-on baggage...

  • The guitar sound in the music of this clip is unmicrophoned i guess. It sucks.

  • Thats slick providing its 100% functional no loss of tuning etc

  • great idea

this is what all acoustic guitars have lacked

  • wow one guitar for general gigs, same guitar if you want to tune and play slide... nice.

  • I love these guitars, but damn these fucking guitars cost you an arm I swear. Why don't they lower the price? Playing music should be affordable, I think. Eh, 'till then I'll stick with my Epiphone.

  • unfortunately, you are going to get what you pay for in music gear...just as with anything else.

you don't buy a $10k Kia and expect that it runs/looks/feels like a $90k BMW do you?

you dont buy a $100k home and expect it to look like the $10 million penthouse on the beach inside do you?

Now a really great musician (just as other examples) can take the "cheaper" equiptment and make it play/work VERY well, but even they would have the limits set by the gear used.

  • @alwaysending, you so right i figured that out with time too :D, there's a reason why begginers should use lowbies guitars

  • Michael Kelly has several guitars with variable adjusting necks that are a lot less. Check em out.

  • Michael Kelly has similar variable adjusting neck guitars that are much cheaper. Check em out. Sam Ash has some, but dealers have more.

  • DTL: have you ever made a nice guitar like that? Of course not!

I really prefer solid dovetailed necks. They get a bit more tone from the guitar. With electronics, it doesn't matter as much, but if I'm going to spend "martin-level money" I'd rather "go for the gold" and get a REALLY great one.

  • hahahaha an arm? lol, i have a martin a dcxe black, and sounds great, but indeed they are expesives, im about to buy a babicz identity, so ill soon make a video

  • that would be an awesome feature to have but i bet that guitar costs out the ass

one of the main problems i have with my guitar is the action on it

  • It's actually fairly priced for a martin with these type of appointments. I'm getting one myself.

  • oh thats pretty cool

i know martin and gibson are bad about over pricing their guitars just because it has their name on it

i have a seagull acoustic and i personally think that it kicked the over priced gibsons ass when i compared them

  • When it says 'bone nut' does it mean actual bone? Or just the colour or something? What animals bones is it?

  • bone. as far as animals, i've looked online and seen walrus and bison but i'm sure theres way more.

  • its cow bone mostly. And changing your plastic nut and saddle to a bone nut and saddle is the cheapest and easiest way to better your guitars tone. if anyone is interested.

  • yeah it's real bone, various animals as far as I know...

  • This is just amazing. Mr Babicz are you polish cause ur surname sounds so.

  • but what about the truss rod? isnt tht gonna affect negatively on the string action nd neck strain? if the truss rod is already adjusted, then wouldnt the truss rod need to be adjusted to accomodate the neck tension too? otherwise you would get a big bow curve in the guitar's neck! and thts not good. any thoughts on this issue?

  • a trussrod is used to give the neck the correct bow, which should be similar in shape to the string when played. this is usually done by capoing the 1st and 14th frets and using feeler guages to see how much room there is between the neck and the string. this allows for the lowest possible buzz free action. the action is set by changing the distance between the 14th fret and the string. which is what this does, no change in string tension. the neck relief does not change or need to be changed

  • its just a truss rod isnt it?

  • i've played one and i think it sounded pretty darn good like a martin should.

  • What a great idea. I am a big fan of low action, and this idea seems to be what I am looking for.

  • thats really low action

  • Banjos have adjustable neck angle from the body.

  • coolest thing since sliced bread?

  • i'm actually thinking of buying a crappy 50-150$ guitar and riggin it up with on of these, tust nut and saddle, and of course i'll file down the frets, and throw on some elixirs... MWHAHAHAH NO ONE WILL STOP ME!

  • ha ha ha that would work!

  • to mad elixirs sound bad on most acoustics

  • lol... Bad? if you don't like bright sounding guitars then sure, but i've even got Brass tone pins for a brighter sound, so that's how i like it :D

  • I agree - they are vastly inferior to the tonal quality of D'Addarios -way too thin a sound. D'Addarios replacing Elixirs transformed my guitar and added depth of tone and power.

  • wild! anyone here have one? I'm jonezin' for this...

  • I have a regular OM - my concern with this guitar is what impact the metal neck elevator will have on resonance and sustain as it will interfere with wood to wood vibration that a standard Martin enjoys. We can't forget that the whole point of a Martin dovetail neck joint is to maximize the contact area between the neck and the structure of the body - putting adjustable steel shafts and cranks inside that joint is bound to cause some suffering.

  • this is crazy cool. i wonder if they can put this on my two martins now???

  • BALLCORNER, I agree with you completely! Anything which interferes with a solid contact between the neck and body effects the tone negatively. So does the so-called "Bridge Doctor," a soundpost-like prop between the bridge and the endblock....yet they sell them. So many people - including Martin have gotten so greedy they'll sell almost anything to make a buck, quality be damned.

  • Cheers to Martin for taking the lead on the Babicz neck! It reduces production costs for the manufacturer and provides incredible versatility for the player. It just makes sense!

  • wow about time martin gets smart and puts on this amazing neck. its so easy and makes a huge diff. i have a babicz guitar and its the best sounding guitar ive ever played.

    nothing compares

  • Cool... It's about time some of the big name makers realized how ingenious/useful this Babicz neck joint is. There's nothing worse than finding a great sounding acoustic, and then not being able to play it because the strings are 1/2" off the fret board and the action can't be easily altered. I can see this adjustable neck feature becoming pretty standard on acoustic guitars as more players get their hands on a Babicz and can hear/feel the difference it makes in their playing.
