  • does this rifle have a weaver or dove rail?

  • @blackopsfan87 dovetail. Weaver rails have a pattern of ridges. Google images if you want to see the difference.

  • @grannman Thanks!

  • Gamo nitro 17, or Gamo shadow? The first one is 165€, the second 180€.. what is the best one?

  • man your taste in music sucks!!.......great mouting though.

  • i looked at that torch mount on deal extreme, but it looks like you replaced the screws in it in order to fit that particular torch (Ultrafire C2). what size screws did you substitute?

  • @hooboy123 yes I had to replace the screws. Screw length is about 2.5cm. If you get longer ones just chop them down.

  • can u use the stopper screw that comes with it?

  • hey does it have a 1 inch tube or a 30mm please send me a message asap!

  • @trekce9 the scope is a 1 inch tube. Google could have told you that!

  • is this alot clearer than the 3-9x40 scope? When you are holding it up looking through the scope are you just adjusting it to your comfort? When you say to tighten the screws in that order do u tighten them all the way in that order or a little at a time? Last question, what do you think i should sight in my scope at(how many yards)? Thanks alot and please reply.

  • @skaterg807 I don't have the 3-9x40 so can't comment. When I'm looking through the scope I'm getting the distance from the eye correct - the eye relief. Too close or too far produces an incomplete picture through the scope. When tightening the screws tighten until you feel it's getting firm then keep firmly snugging them down bit by bit in a circuit using the order shown. Sight in @ 20 yards.

  • @grannman thanks u helped alot great vid too

  • hey great video

how is the full name of the flashlight

  • @allthesmallthings5 thanks. Ultrafire C2 per video description.

  • I live in NZ and wondering where you got the torch and mount from?

  • @peterz193 mount was from NZhunter.com

    Torch was of trademe.

  • very good video

  • sorry that scope is compatible with any gamo rifle ?

  • @MRFRACOLLA yes they have the true strength platform which makes them very tolerant to the recoil of spring piston airguns

  • Whats the liquid you put on, and why?

  • @dirtyminded604 mineral turpentine to clean the mounting point of oil.

  • ok thanx for everything. ive found that the crosman premier hollow points work great for shooting in the backyard and the polymag predators to be best for hunting. ps: if your a good shot you dont need to reload quickly for a second shot. :)

  • @GAMOkid26 you can be the best shot in the world, doesn't mean the unexpected becomes non-existent. Yeap, both those pellets should do a good job.

  • what r the best pellets for your shadow 1000

  • @GAMOkid26 8-9 grain pellets are what you want. Gamo ones are at the lower end of the range in terms of quality with JSB, Daisy, Crossman being better.

  • how much did you pay for the scope and was it of the jsr wesite. im gettin a gamo shadow soon as well how accurate is it at bout 20-30 yards. ty

  • @jaket2k8 bought it here in NZ a while ago. Palm sized groups and under if everything is zeroed and solid.

  • Great video man!

Thanks for your time and generosity

  • I can't get the height zeroing locking to unlock! I can for the wingage, but not that other one, any ideas?

  • what scope rings are you using?

  • @dreakea1 in the description.

  • @MOTOAIRSOFTER Pretty much online air rifle store or specialty shop

  • Comment removed

  • I am looking to buy an air gun for fun and possibly squirrel hunting. Would you recommend a Gamo 1000?

  • Depends. My main spring did break after about 2000 pellets but the gamo warrenty covered it. Power and build is good. Depends how much money you want to spend in the end.

  • Ruger air hawk 1000fps 110$ and twice as good cheers

  • cool.

  • how much was the scope for ?

  • i bought him in pyramydair fore 80$

  • hey at 5:03 where did u get the night setup i cant find any thing like that seriously awesome >>>>> replay quickly plz

  • I just bought a torch and clamp and put it on the scope. See vid description.

  • i wish they still sold the straight Gamo Shadow... they don't sell them in America anymore. you have to buy the Shadow Sport that has a cheap scope on it, and i feel bad ditching a scope.

  • Yes it was real handy getting the baseline shadow platform and mounting it with the rings and optics of my own choice. I saved money out of it because the scoped packages over here amped up the price far too high even though they only had cheap scopes and rings.

  • That scope with that flashlight on that rifle looks like overkill. I have a Gamo Shadow 1000,with a 4x32 scope, unilluminated. Im thinking of getting a 3-9x40 or a 3-12x44, but i dont want this overkill look. I want it more too look like an assassins sleak rifle. Any tips on good scopes? The ones ive looked at are Strike(3-9x49) and FX(3-12x44) Can u recommend anything?

  • The only experience I've had is with the Leapers. Basically the only advice I can give you is to make sure you get an air gun rated scope. Standard rifle scopes can't handle the forward recoil of a springer air rifle.

  • Ok, well ive looked around on some Leapers sights, and ive found the "3-12X44 30mm Full Size SWAT Range Estimating AO Scope" is that an airgun scope? Cant seem to find that information anywhere. Also im gonna get a gas spring for my rifle, so will that do any difference in terms of scopes? Its supposed to reduce recoil and sound pretty drastical.

And im just guessing i need a rail for these? With my cheap scope they ware included.

  • from what I've heard the accushot range should be able to handle the punishment. You'll need dovetail 30mm medium profile rings for that scope but if they are included then you'll be fine to mount straight away.

  • so you are saying that air guns have more recoil than a standard .22 rifle? really? you must have some kinda air rifles there. I'm a bit confused otherwise.

  • Absolutely, at least in regards to 1000fps air rifles. I own a .22lr Remington 597 semi auto. It has next to no recoil compared to the Gamo Shadow. The forward slamming of the piston in an air rifle is significantly more vigorous than the gentle bumping from a .22lr semi auto bolt cycling. It is well accepted that springer air rifles with their forward recoil are far harder on scopes than a .22lr rifle.

  • yeah I don't know jack about air rifles. i didn't realize there's a piston. I never really thought about it before. I hope your scope is holding up well. all the research I've done, it seems to be hit or miss. some people are having issues with the Leaper's I was gonna get one but I'm looking for something else now. i love your music man. you have good taste. and you live on some awesome property. it's beautiful there. love those hills.

  • Thanks pal. My air rifle bashed my first Leapers scope to pieces unfortunately. I was sent a replacement Leapers which I put on my Remington 597 leaving my Gamo Shadow unscoped. The Leapers works well on the .22lr but I don't know if I could trust it on my air rifle again.

  • should try a Crosman Nitro piston.

almost eliminates that piston jerk. not to mention you can leave your rifle cocked for months and months without issue.

broke my very 1st springer gun by leaving it cocked over night, cracked the spring the next day when i went to shoot it.

hehehehhe exchanged it though for a new one....still have it and it works fine. learned the hard way :P

although airguns seem to have more of a jolt then a kick i.m.o

45-70 will make you shat a brick if you shoot it

  • Or a theoben gas ram. I'm not to fussed though. My air rifle performs how I need it to and the spring adds some excitement. I have no doubt I can handle 45-70. With all the shooting I've done I'd be happy to snack on some.

  • I have to agree with you their.

My Gamo Whisper Averages about 1250FPS of muzzle velocity which is a whammer compared to the Air Rifles I would use as a kid.People, you must remember that the recoil of an Air Weapon is a different type of recoil to that of a firearm.Air Weapon-The recoil on an air rifle is a high-tension spring being released, exercising a push type recoil, compared to the controlled explosion of a firearm, which causes lift. But the Air Rifle in part typically has more than the 22

  • airguns dont shoot as fast as advertised and 1250 is with pba ammo and that can break the spring

  • Leapers has a 3-12x44 "mini SWAT scope" that is fairly small. but at a little over 100 dollars it's a little bit of an investment. but Leapers has some scopes that are sized down that are worth a try.

  • Nice scope, How much was it? (I'm getting an air rifle in a day or so)

  • The scope cost something like $160 NZD way back when I bought it.

  • i just got this scope in the mail today....NO SCOPE RINGS!!!!!! ARRRRRRG! oh well i can wait three or four days i guess ....sighhhhh

  • Did you order rings with the scope or did you think they would automatically come with the scope?

Because the sellers can't ship the scope with rings without knowing if you need high/medium/low profile, 1 inch or 30mm diameter, weaver or dovetail style.

Waiting builds character but yeah it stinks when you finally get something and there's something missing.

  • on airgundepot when you click on a product they show a window for acsesories.... this product had none! soooo....i ASSUMEd they wopuld come with it...nope so i ordered a one peice high profile from accushot cheers great video

  • ok thanks

  • can you put a tripod on a shadow 1000

  • you can put bipods on pretty much any rifle. Not recommended on hold sensitive springers though.

  • haste the day :)

  • you bet!

  • omg :O

    that scope scares me :O

please don't point that to me

  • what did you use the lock tight on, the scope stop screw?

  • mainly for the three mount clamping screws but putting some on the stop screw is also a good idea.

  • hey thanks, i just got a gamo viper rifle, and it has a scope mount im using with my new leapers 3-9 X44 with ez tap illumination, this was a nice tutorial, thanks

  • i know most things about scopes now, but i still don't know how to attach the mount rings to the mount base , so if anyone can help me, that would be great.

  • once you get them you will see you can only do it one way. You drop them on and tighten a screw. It would be like describing how to put lego blocks together - just get your hands on them and do it.

  • Yeah! Haste the day. nice

  • i have a gamo shadow 1000 i bought a daisy power line varible 3x-9x scope at 63 yards it shoots 3/4 in groups so im satisfied lol

  • awesome vid m8 =)

  • hey im gettin theSOCOM Metal Barrett M82 where do you think i could get something to mount it with

  • Just google a scope you might be interested in and find an online store which sells it. Either that or you could buy locally if you have any suitable stores nearby.

  • iv got a 4x20 lol on my shadow

  • when i put the scope mount on, i marked it on the rifle where it is, so if the mount moves, ill know right away.

  • does your gamo have the little piece of metal that is screwed on the back of the receiver (where my stop hole is) and just covers the dovetail notches?

yes, good idea to mark it.

  • no, the rifle came with gamo 4x20 scope, the mounts were very crappy ones, now i got new scope and new gamo onepiece mounts, so im thinking that if the previous mounts, that were very crappy, didnt come with that metal stop piece, then gamo delta fox doesnt require a stopper. ill test it out. if the mounts stay still for a week, i dont think the rifle requires a stopper.

  • oh right, the gamo delta fox is rated at 525 fps therefore there is much less jarring going through the rifle when firing. So long as everything is nice and tight you're probably fine.

  • yea it so tight that when i would try to tighten it up more, i think i would break something, i think i allready ruined the supplied allen key, it started going round and round in the screw after i got the screws very tight.

  • if a gamo rifle doesnt have a stopping pin hole on it, does it mean that the rifle doesnt require a stopping pin?

  • ideally you always want a scope stop so it is a bit unfortunate that some don't have stop holes. I'd be inclined to drill a hole or file a flat spot for the mount's stop pin.

  • my gamo doesnt have that stopper screw hole, i just left the stopper screw untouched, didnt take it out either.

  • man, you went all out on keeping that scope rock-steady. i've never put loc-tite on my stuff before cuz i haven't found that i need it. my rifle recoils pretty hard and nothing's gone wrong. i would assume though that a Gamo might have more recoil for its weight. it has a hollow, light stock so the same amount of recoil might move the gun more. i like how you went to all limits to keep it steady.

  • I had a scope like yours,it was a bam 3-9 times 40 scope and my old crossman quest 1000 destroyed it!,Im thinking about getting a gamo cfx with a nikko stirling gold crown airking 4-12 times 42 is that a good scope? or hawk sport hd 3-9 times 40?

  • Nikko Sterling have a better brand name so their air rifle scopes should be pretty solid. I don't think you could go wrong with it. I don't know anything about the hawk sport though.

  • thanks man, what cleaner did you use at the start?

  • It's in the vid description - mineral turpentine

  • all you need now is a night vision adapter and you wont need to scare them off with the light

  • true.

  • does lock tight really help

  • it would help stop the screws backing out, but I do them up so tight I'm not sure they would back out anyway. It can only make the setup stronger anyway.

  • Wats better gamo shadow 1000 or gamo cfx???

  • Well the theory is that the cfx is a fixed barrel so over the long term is said to keep identical accuracy in contrast to a break barrel which may eventually become loose at the pivot point through continued cocking. I still prefer the break barrel myself because it's easy and fast to reload and also cheaper.

  • should have made some narration, music should have not been used.

  • each to his own.

  • yep your right, am not knocking your video, its just that i need to mount my scope too and wanted some help.

  • If you want some help then feel free to ask a question.

  • Possums, our gift to NZ from Australia, oh well, at least you'll never run out of things to hunt at night!.

  • you got that right, they're a plague here and over in Aussie you have to coddle them!

  • would a gamo scope stop be any good seeing i dont have a drilled hole between dovetails??

  • If you have no stop hole between the dovetails, the stop pin in the leapers mount cannot be used.

  • is that .177 or .22 ?

  • .177

  • im buying one of these soon.

  • ok so i might buy this scope too. ok what size rings and mount thingy should i get i know its a 1inch tube and the mount has to be 11mm dovetail. correct me if im wrong

  • The mount I'm using is in the video description. The height of the mount you need depends on how big the scope objective lense is. Small lense = low profile mount. Large lense = High profile mount. The leapers website lists the scope sizes that each of their mounts will be high enough for.

  • thank you so much

  • was dat red bootle?glue thankls 4 teh vid its greart

  • No it's mineral turpentine.

  • My shadow does not have a pre-drilled scope stop hole either. Do you think it would need one if I mounted the same scope you did? Would that be a gunsmith job? I also have a cheap Powerline scope I was thinking about mounting on it. It has two separate rings--not a one piece. I don't know if it will be sturdy enough to stay on the gun after multiple firings. Guess I can try it.

  • You are going to want a scope stop hole or after ongoing shooting the scope will tend to lose zero which is very frustrating. You could try a light 4x32 scope with the 2 rings clamped super tight but over time I don't know how stable that would be. You can drill the hole yourself but make sure you don't drill to far. Put some grease in the hole when you mount the scope. You also might want to smooth the top edges of the hole with a small round file, maybe a nail file would work.

  • is it Zoom on that?

  • yes, 3-9 times zoom.

  • tell me why did you make this a video! adding a scope to any firearm or in this case an air rifle isn't exactly rocket science!!

  • There is a first time for everything and if you have no experience seeing it done can be handy.

  • ok thanx man

  • hey man im getting a shadow 1000 soon and i need to get a good scope cheap and no hassles, were did u get urs from?

  • I got mine here in New Zealand from nzhunter dotcom. You might be better off buying within Australia if you can find them at a good price over there and save postage.

  • do u have any advice on a more powerful one in about the same price range

  • I havent kept up with the led tech advances so no, I don't really know. Basically led tech was moving pretty quick when I got my torch so there will definitely be brighter ones available but I don't know how the prices would compare.

  • and i now da links in da discrip but r u sure thants the place were u get that scope ring and rail cus its like something fo a light were u get the scope rings and mount

  • I have only listed the name of the scope mount. You have to find a store yourself by pasting that name into google. Many online stores sell those rings.

  • thansk for youre video sorry for wasting yuore time i now all i neeed now thnx again ure vids r awsom ile sub you :)

  • how far would you say your torch

     is effective to for hunting

  • Probably about 30 meters. It picks up the reflection of eyes at much further distance so if you have a scope that lets in enough light you could shoot at 50 meters without too much hassle. There are newer more powerful led torches around now but the power of this one is still plenty.

  • looks like a sako now :)

  • Did your S1K come with that hole drilled in the scope rail or did you do it yourself?

    Because mine does have one.

  • The hole was already there. I didn't have to do anything.

  • That's odd.

    Mine doesn't have any hole.

Maybe I just have an older model or something.

But, anyway, thanks for the vid, it was extremely helpful.

  • Usually air rifles in general have a scope stop system. My gamo did have the metal plate which spreads across the two dovetail grooves to stop standard mounts from shifting rearward. Unscrewing this revealed the larger stop hole and metal plate screw holes designed for mounts with integral stop pins.

Glad you found the vid handy.

  • joer no t canses de apretar no k parece k lo ayas comprao en los xinos

  • ¿podría usted repetir? No puede traducir el mensaje. ¿Quizás su deletreo?

  • o and by the way. ive seen haste the day and mewithoutyou live! kick ass music choices

  • hey that's great, yeap good music.

  • i just started airgunning. i got a gamo big cat. and i have no clue how to sight in the scope. i have it all mounted correctly though.

  • Ok draw a 1/2 inch black dot on a piece of paper and set it up at 15-20 yards. Make sure you have a shooting spot where you can rest your arms on something and fire a 3 shot group at the target. Keep firing 3 shot groups and adjusting your scope. For windage adjust the crosshairs in the direction you want the shot to go (want the shot to go further left, adjust the crosshairs left). For elevation it is opposite so if you want to shoot higher adjust the crosshairs down.

  • Wow, I just realised I messed up on my windage adjustment instructions. I haven't adjusted zero on my scopes for so long now. For windage shift the crosshairs to the left if you want your shots to go further right etc. Was adjusting my dragunov scope when I realised! Sorry bout that but I'm sure you've got that hang of it now anyway.

  • take off the friction tape on the rings

  • That tape helps lock the scope in place better than a metal on metal contact so removing it is exactly what you don't want to do...

  • Would that mount work on a L96 AWP?

  • I think the L96 has a weaver rail so no, this mount wouldn't work because it's a dovetail mount. You would need to get weaver rings.

  • Thanks for help

  • no worries man.

  • a real one or just a bb one?

  • u should of shot that possum at the end.

  • a bit hard when the scope isn't attached to the rifle.

  • sorry, thought it was

  • cool vid dude, where did u get that flashlight mount? i've been looking everywhere and can't find it.

  • I got mine off a local action website trademe but if you wanted to buy one I have also found them on dealextreme*com under "mounts and accessories" named:

"2.75-inch Flashlight and Laser Universal Gun Mount"

  • I've put a link to it in the description.

  • awsome gun. awsome scope.

  • hey cool u actually know how to mount a scope.ive seen so many people who tighten one screw all the way and the ndo the same to the others and then send back there scope because it was cheap and woulndnt keep zero

  • Ive always wanted a nice powerful 1000fps air rifle, but they are really hard to get here in australia, so i have to use a .22 with subsonic bullets. I you know where i can get them, please tell me.

    Thanks

  • I'm pretty sure these are readily available in Australia and you should be able to get them in most gun shops. I did a google for air rifle, limiting pages to Australia and found some online gun shops such as adelaidegunshop. I'v got a .22lr with subsonics bullets and can't tell any noise difference between subs and full power ammo. The air rifle is definitely a lot quiter.

  • Ok, thanks for the info and reply.

  • update: I can tell the difference between the noise of subsonics and full power ammo after all. There is a significant difference!

  • yer, there is

  • aira, im aussie two i have got a air rifle that shoots 1000fps just go down to your local gun shop and ask if they have got any. i recommended dont get a 2nd hand one as their spring will be all crappy. and the recomeneded brand you should get is gamo.

  • Ok, thanks. Just one problem, I or my dad dont have a liscence, so we will have to get a friend to buy it.

  • when i usually mount a new scope i like to set it on something and check the Eye Relif and the crosshairs so when i'm done i can just tighten the screws afterwards makes it much easier gettin that scope next week

  • Thanks for the video. Just what I was looking for to help mount my new Millett 6-25X56 to my Rock River rifle.

  • I hope that wasn't water you put on your gun. I highly doubt it was, was it?

  • Heh, no it was mineral turpentine.

  • where did u buy the light an mount from and will it fit my centerpoint 3-9x50 adventure series

  • I bought the light mount from the website trademe*co*nz here in New Zealand. I did a brief google for "action qd" and it found a listing on ebay so you could probably buy off there too. Yes it should fit your centerpoint similarly to the leapers. One thing I found is that my light had a wide tube and the screws of the mount weren't long enough to clamp it. I found some longer screws from a panelbeater business.

  • why you putting your finger on the trigger while presighting?

  • while I was adjusting eye relief I was holding the shadow in the natural position I would use when shooting and didn't think about it. Muzzle was pointing in safe direction, gun was unloaded and uncocked, but technically I should have kept my finger off the trigger unless I was about to shoot.

  • how much each for the scope, the mounts and the light?
