I think you people need to get a life. Seriously who cares whats done is done. The filly was accepted into both breeds. As for the owner, why not send in pics to both breeds if the color goes both ways. Might be accepted to both breeds may not be accepted in either one. Worth a shot. Obviously turned out to be in there favor! These people are just trying to promote their horses and their program. WS fees are not cheap especially in this economy. Regardless congrats on the wins!!
I think the people who got cheated care, as well as others who don't lie on an application. The point is he knew she was not a palomino, he lied and cheated people out of placings that THEY paid for. Is that fair?
I cannot blame either the owner or associations more than the other! ! The assoc. need to do like apps and POA with a color council that goes and checks out questionable colored horse. The horse should have been registered either PHBA or ABRA/IBHA. However, the owner should have been responsible enough to pull the papers on this horse once the actual color was determined as a yearling. It is a matter of ethics on both parties shoulders.
I lay the blame solely on the owner. You know the person who checked that little box on the PHBA reg form that says horse does NOT have a dorsal stripe? Ya that box. The fact that this person not only registered her falsley as TWO different colors then showed her in 2 different WS;s under TWO different colors? Yes blame falls solely on him
Oh and the guy breeds for conformation?? PLEASE, nobody breeding for conformation would ever produce a horse with hocks that horrifically straight or that over at the knee. The judging in halter classes is a total farce half the horses that win have such horrific conformation they can barely hobble.
the horse is either one or the other, if its a palomino then the owner is cheating entering it in buckskin shows and should be banned from that association, if its buckskin then the owner is cheating entering it in palomino shows and should be banned from that association. If its neither then he needs banning from both
Personally I'd ban the owner from both associations for life on principle regardless of what the colour turns out to be. I hate cheats.
Exactly, those saying he did nothing wrong are horribly mis-informed. On the PHBA foal registration application it asks does said horse have a dorsal strip he checked no, and only sent in a front shot of this filly for the application to PHBA. So they took that at face value he is wrong wrong and triple wrong for this deception.
I say rules are rules and if ABRA does not accept (which they don't) palomino's with the dun gene, they just don't. It is no different than them turing away grey's, perlino's, cremello's. roans, and others that do indeed have a dun gene as well. They have simple color rules - buckskin (can have dun gene too "dunskin"), dun (as in bay dun), red dun, and grullo. It's not about if we agree, or disagree with the rules...just that rules are rules and should be followed & enforced for fairness.
Then why are you wasting time posting here? There are abiused horses to rescue. This is an issue that is not going to just go away and it shouldn't. It needs to be addressed and there are alot of people writing PHBA and conveying how they feel and its being looked into. Time will tell as they say/
We actively participate in several associations, trying to make a difference in the horse industry by trying to breed correct conformation & support the associations by being active not only in shows but in programs for the handicapped, & kids. If you feel so strongly about the rules then by all means be active enough to participate in nat'l conferences for the associations & try to make a difference instead of playing on the internet being hurtful where your opinion doesn't change anything.
Halter classes are about conformation which is what Daniel breeds for. Do you honestly think she is the only horse who's color might be questionable to be registered, shown and win in a color association? Or is that the whole problem - that she won? Would there be so much drama if she had placed 7th or 8th? I trust this isnt all about a buckle or trophy (which is certainly what it is starting to sound like) because that is not what it's about for us.
The only problem here is someone registering a horse as 2 different colors. You can pat yourself on the back all you/he wants it still boils down to a horse being either yellow or red dun OR dunalino which would mean no PHBA and no ABRA/IBHA.
Per AQHA Upromised is registered as a Palomino. But I know how they got the IBHA and ABRA papers, her sire is a registered dun and depending on when they took the pictures her color could go either way.
Well pictures were sent in showing the dorsal stripe which is why ABRA accepted her. It will be interesting to see just what color she really is. Either way we all know they cant be both so taking her to both WS's was wrong
ABRA will accpeted her also with a Dun sire. I know the check it for the IBHA. I guess someone on a group had posted her DNA which shows her being a palomino not a red dun.
IF she is a dunalino ABRA will NOT accept her. Also I read the post about a test coming back saying she has the palomino gene BUT they also posted the DUN test has not come back yet.
Either way it is wrong for them to be showing her at 3 WS under the wrong color. Some it is the associations' fault for not double checking but the owner knows better too.
I agree, I do not think its the associations fault honestly. They looked at the pictures the owner sent in. All fault lies with the owner who is cheating other hard working people who show their horses and are honest. They lost their chance in the spotlight due to his actions.
I didn't show in either WS so not a poor loser, and talking out of school? So he didn't register the horse as a red dun in ABRA and a palomino in PHBA? And he didn't take her to both WS's? oh thats right he did.
So if this guy didn't beat you out what's your beef??? I guess he's bringing down the quality of the shows is that it..He still brings some georgeous stuff to the table. You got to admit he has some winners...WOW!!! Go Mr. Landlock!!!
Yes he has some beautiful horses, which has nothing to do with the whole mess. It has to do with what he did, it shows how much he respects his other horse show people. He showed a horse who shouldn't have been at one OR both WS's if it comes to her actually being a dunalino. How about integrity?
Mmmm, you may have a point...but shouldn't there be rules to safe guard from this sort of thing happening..Intergrity. Who has integrity these days...? Our government doesn't ,the churches don't so it's just another one of those things in this world going to the dogs..or should i say the horse...
As our parents said if everyone jumped off the cliff would you? Just because others have no morals integrity etc does not give us the right to do the same. Wrong is wrong and as a stallion owner and breeder what he has done will hurt his business people want those they can trust when it comes to investing in buying a breeding etc.
If that is the way you feel then you should request that the registries require all horses to be genetically tested for color traits prior to issuing papers. The registries are color based and evidently someone in the registries did not see anything in her that qualified as an undesirable trait per their rules.
I'm sorry, but to me it UNETHICAL to even TRY to register that filly with both registeries. AND further more the IBHA SPECIFICALLY states in THEIR registeration rules that a horse that is registered as a PALOMINO IS NOT ALLOWED REGISTERATION WITH THEM!!! Whoever signed those registration applications SHOULD be suspended AND fined for their dishonest behavior. I don't care if they NEVER requested more photos, etc. It's UNETHICAL and I would NEVER EVER buy a horse from you folks b/c of this!!!
Well actually I do agree they should test BUT adults who wear big people panties would know it was *wrong* to register a horse in 2 different color associations as 2 different colors. Nice try on justifying what has been done. Red dun is not palomino so how can the same horse be both a red dun AND a palomino LOL
Not knowing color or making an honest mistake with determining color is understable "at times" but anyone who would DELIBERATELY register the same horse in two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT color registeries is not an accident or misunderstanding and should be dealt with harshly by the associations. Deliberate misrepresenation, IMO, is a sign of someone's true character- whether it be the person that registed the foal or the person who is knowingly supporting/promoting it in a false way.
I agree wholeheartedly, the excuses now are saying it is the associations fault LOL It is the fault of the person who registered her as 2 different colors.
I just bred our red dun granddaughter of Zips Chocolate Chip to our palomino son of Hot Diggity Joe. Here are our color possibilities:
25.00% - Red Dun
25.00% - Palomino
25.00% - Dunalino
25.00% - Chestnut
The Dunalino carries both the Creme and the Dun Genes. It's very possible that this filly could be a dunalino...colored like a palomino and a red dun? Genetically, she would carry both genes.
And yes she can be both. Her sire is a dun and her mother is palomino. The color term is dunalino. Feel free to do the research. However, as i previously posted, samples have been sent to UC Davis for genetic testing.
Well testing should have been done before registering her as 2 different colors in 2 different color breeds correct? Secondly I know color genetics and know it is possible she is a dunalino but also know that would restrict her from both buckskin and palomino as neither will accept them
Dunolinos CAN NOT be registered with PHBA and IBHA. I do now know about ABRA. However, you sir, did NOT bother to read the registeration requirements BEFORE signing that application. Ignorance of the rules is NO excuse.
The only person who has done anything right in this deal has been Daniel. He has sent samples in for genetic testing since BOTH registries did not think it necessary to inspect the filly. It is our job to promote the horses and horse business. Daniel does a very good job about that. He believes in his horses and has not quit on them regardless of economy, disasters or so forth. There are a lot of people in this business that spend more time fussing over a horses color than being helpful.
Your issue should be with the registries. Inspections were requested from both associations. They issued the papers - not Daniel and they obvious believed that she should be registered with their registry.
HE LIED!!! I don't care if ApHC would accept her based on photos alone! THEY BOTH HAVE RULES AGAINST REGISTERING A HORSE REGISTERED WITH ANOTHER ASSOCIATION! I hope her Palomino papers REVOKED and her titles are taken. She's a nice filly, but the owner LIED LIED LIED LIED LIED! He doesn't deserve to even be a member of PHBA. I don't care what you or anyone else says!
Fact 1 - The same set of pictures were sent to both registries.
Fact 2 - no additional pictures were sent in nor were they requested
Fact 3 - The PHBA REGISTERED her as a palomino
Fact 4 - The ABRA REGISTERED her as a dun It is shameful to see that someone who so obviously does not know the FACTS would post remarks attacking someone's character. The one thing that I can say for sure is that you would NEVER find DANIEL posting hurtful remarks slandering someone else's character.
Fact number 1 he registered her as a palomino Fact 2 he then registers her as a red dun with ABRA even sending in additional photos to prove she was in fact a red dun.
Fact 3 he walked her into the PHBA WS and showed her as a yellow horse
Fact 4 he walked into the ABRA and showed her as the red dun that she is.
So how is anyone wrong in saying that is not ethical? .
No one is saying she isn't a nice filly. Ethics do come into play when the owner fights with ABRA to get her registered since she is a red dun YET waltzs into the PHBA WS. PHBA palomino you know yellow WS? Someone with ethics wouldnt have taken her there when she is a red dun. Took placings away from other actual yellow horses.
What about her says red dun to you? shes got a dorsal stripe as do MANY PALOMINO WORLD Champions. She has no leg barring & she has a white mane. My post to you was pretaining to the ehics remark. I wouldnt make such a bold hurtful statement in a public place. Especially being on the outside looking in & not knowing facts. As far as the Buckskin clubs, they didnt question her. They were asked to inspect her also.
The Buckskin associations got her aplications at the same time PHBA did. They both registered her red dun because of her dorsal stripe. Daniels caught in the middle of some registrys that dont know much about color genetics. Maybe the registrys can take a closer look at the descriptions in their own rules. There are bays out there in the dun classes too. There are "Palominos" with palomino color & no White hair in their tails.
The same set of pictures were sent to both associations. Palomino kicked her back because of her dorsal stripe... The Dorsal stripe is light tan, not brown or black. She has no leg barring at all. Daniel asked for an inspection & PHBA Declined & registered her.
I would love to know how this filly can legally win both the PHBA and ABRA world shows with one filly. Is she palomino or is she dun? She can't be both.
And you do?? Does your unethical friend make you proud or what? I'd say NOT! What he did was unethical and he should be banned from PHBA for the stunt he pulled!
SWo do you know Mr. Dan??? If you don't then you are just a hurtful mean person and if you do then you might have the right to be questioning the rules but it sounds like the rules are in question and so is the color of the horse. So get off this mans train..
Anyone can question the actions of someone who wrongfully registered a horse in 2 different color breeds as 2 different colors. Anyone who does not question it is part of the problem and not the solution. Other people got cheated out of a placing and their money due to someones actions.
So how can you say it's wrong when he got confirmation from the Associations. They are the wrong people here and this should be cleared up so that no other beautiful philly like this one is shoved in the cracks because of color. The rules stink and so does your accusations of integrity. Shame on you...
Also, all of this drama on here does not supply a solution nor anything that would be even helpful. It doesn't improve anything or change anything. So what have you accomplished with this? It doesn't help the industry, breeders, or the associations. Your opinion is simply that - an opinion.
This horse wasw not wrongly registered. Both associations knew that and declined to make any decision. If you have such a hard on about this you should contact the associations yourself and find out the real story before you go running your hateful mouth all over the internet with BS...
You seem to be the one with hateful comments. Yes the horse was wrongly registered for a fact with PHBA. In the registration rules horses with a dorsal stripe are not able to be registered. She has one. Please tell me how that isn't wrongfully registered? He is a breeder, he *knows* the rules regardless of the blame they are trying to pass on to the associations.
This horse has a Mom that is a palamino and a father that is a dun so why should she not have both the color?
You horse people are so vicious and ugly . You can't be any kind of decent breeder if you won't stand behind your product. The problem lies with the associations and not the breeders.
Nice filly. Have a question though, how can this filly show both as a buckskin/dun and also at the Palomino Worlds as a palomino. Not trying to cause any trouble just asking a question.
Yes, samples have been sent to UC Davis. The bigger issue here is that the associations do not register according to genetics, they look at pictures and make a decision as to what color they are. We requested that the associations inspect the filly, they felt inspections were not needed, declined the request for an inspection, and issued papers.
Because both associations approved her color and all because she did not have the non chacteristics or either. Both associations had the opportunity after having pictures submitted and phone calls made to come and visually inspect the horse and both declines. So tell me why this horse should supper and this bredder should not show in both shows when they took his money and sent confirmation. The problem lies with the Ass. not with the breeders. Why shouldn't this philly get her glory and credit
I think you people need to get a life. Seriously who cares whats done is done. The filly was accepted into both breeds.

Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. Try looking up ABRA and PHBA and their rules.

WE have and evidently so did the associations who issued the papers.

Well good luck to you, hope it all pans out.

Yes she is a beratiful philly and has anyone bothered to see what her genetic background is???
RSK8888 2 years ago
