  • you're so good, mike. it doesn't have to be true to be accepted.

  • Good point as far as it goes. However, in science models are considered useful that fit and explain empirical observations. This explanatory power is about as close as science gets to "truth".

  • yeah but i was thinking about how many other things we accept and live by without needing them be "true". for instance, huge parts of our economy are based on grown adults playing games. the super bowl is coming up and millions of people truly live for that stuff and the whole culture that is built around it.
