I have the same wheel, and I have to tell you, drifting with a wheel is so much better than a controller! With the wheel you have a lot better control over the steering and throttle, to make your drifts as good as possible. With the controller, it's really hard to control the throttle and steering isn't as accurate as a wheel.
@Benjamin78344 you have to remember that this vid was made in 07, so flatscreens were very pricy at that time , a 20 in now cost about 150$,then it would cost about 400$
@Ahya728 That's actually not true. I started off drifting with the controller and I drifted just like this. Then I moved onto the 360 degree wheel (Driving Force) and I drifted flawlessly. Now i drift with this.
@SR20motorboy Partly true, because I had experienced that having a loose analog on a controller has a better steering control than the usual newly bought controllers, having a stiff and more likely to respond too much. So maybe, my controller now sucks or I am just suck drifting on GT.
@Ahya728 not exactly, while using a wheel yes you can drift with more presision, however i drift with a 482BHP silvia in GT5 with a controller and i can hold a drift for as long as SR20 here around a corner
@evilgamers1 i guess it really depends on how tightor loose your controller is. because before, my old controller was loose as hell, you know when u turn the steering and youcan seeyour wheel turning 20degrees. that's how loose it was and i was able to drift in nfsmw. But now my newer controller was really tight. Tight like when u turn the steering will it will automatically shift to 60degree. and i can't drift in nfsmw the way i drift before. Maybe that's what i'm encountering now in gt4..
Ha, you should see my sim "rig"... my computer's on a tiny table which is resting on top of a wooden box. There's so little space I have to use my mouse left-handed on my bed, and my "seat" is a tiny wicker stool which, quite frankly, makes my back hurt. You're living in luxury there, my friend! :p
@topgearnut1989 Nope. The DFGT wasn't in existence 3 years ago. It also has some extra nobs and buttons on it for settings stuff like Traction Control while racing or driving on GT5P, and GT5.
@subeefan I changed the ride height, spring rate, dampers, stabilizers, LSD Initial Torque, and transmission gear ratios. Unfortunately, I don't remember what the settings were and GT4 is broke. =[ Oh well, I have GT5 now which is totally awesome! lol
@HEMAS13 I'm lost (._.) And I'm guessing since you removed your comments, you understand that you misunderstood me? Anyways, removed mine too. And now I'm reading it as 15 minutes and 35 seconds... (._.)
xaxa ... try to disable the FFB and lets see would you drift like this with one hand :D you have good skills , thats true , but with FFB , witch helps you a lot ! :)
@mirkata12 Yea but without FFB, the game wouldn't feel too lively since you wouldn't be able to feel anything. While it may be true that some of these cars don't have power-steering, you should still be able to feel something. So I rather keep my FFB on. Although I've played with it off before. I drift nearly the same, but it's just less boring. =P
@SR20motorboy xaxa before i buy my 1GB ram , my computer had only 256 mb ram but 128 mb video and it worked perfectlu !! now with 1,25 gb ram it runs extra on all settings high ! So if you had a good video card its not too important to have a lot of ram :)
@mirkata12 Yea but I surely do need more RAM either way. X) My anti-virus takes up a lot of CPU Processes which uses up most of my memory. That plus LFS would be a terrible combination <_< So I just want to be sure that I get a very nice experience when or if I play LFS.
@nithPS2 They did drift better. lol You can get more angle with the 4WD cars, but it isn't really that hard to drift in GT4. Of course GT5P is better for drifting. X) It just doesn't have as much tracks since it's basically a big demo. Can't wait for GT5 to come out. =]
@TVGames2009 Honestly, I've never used it on the PC but my friend has. But I think it works like this: 200-900 degrees can be used depending on the game. For example. when I play GT3 with the DFP, it is set to 200 and does not support 900. When I play GT4 & GT5, the wheel supports 900 degrees. As for GRID, it supports both. So I'm guessing with the PC, it's the same thing. Any games that are completely compatible with the DFP should have settings to change it. But I'm not sure if I'm correct.
@willfuckforbeer Hell Yea! You know I'm gettin GT5 when it comes out! XD I've been playing GT ever since it came out and this is by far going to be the best GT game in the series! X)
@Micco613 I have but it all ended when it broke about a year after this video was uploaded. =/ I'm planning on getting a new disc and play online with X-Link KAI until GT5 comes out.
@nicholas5674 There's not much to say but you can try watching "Drift bible" (A real drift video by Keiichi Tsuchiya) to learn how You don't have a problem with your wheel though.
i can drift but only in the gym' area.... i use the nice skyline drift car....
the only problem is, is that i have to take the force feed back off then i can do it. I find the force feed back too slow wen it comes to reaction tyms....
the GT4 i heve never gaved me problem befor but i start playing this game i heve
[ raceing street Feed ] that game gave me a lots of problem's the feedback and all the stuff on it was Working so it may be the game or its my Wheel missing up one i start contacting the owner but they never helped me so i stop playing that GTA for a week now so i go to walmark this PS2 stop working i had it for a year now and it says [ ple read you PS2 book ] so i stop for 2 weeks then i get on my GTA it works
How did you set up the wheel so it don't stay at some random position if you turn it left and then quick on right? that happens to me all the time, please tell me how to solve this problem
yes, force feedback works, I tryed in settings and all the things works(crash, bridge etc.) and when I plug it in it starts to calibrate, but when I am playing the game I could only steer if I turn wheel to one side and then wait the FF to turn it back to center and then again... and that sux, with that I can only play truck games
If I turn my steeling wheel in one direction(lets say its left) and then I quickly turn it right the wheel stays in some position, not in the middle, where it should be. Do you understand what I mean? If you don't, I will try to get video how that looks, but right now I don't have wheel at home.
Something is probably wrong with your wheel. It should go back to the center like mine does but I'm not too sure how to really help you.And you have the same problem on all the other games you play right? What I'm leading to is that it isn't calibrating right, but if it's just leaning to he right or left just a little bit, it shouldn't be too much of a big problem.
yes it turns in one direction and if I want to turn it to opposite direction I must wait FF to return to center. that takes a lot of time if you are racing (about 2 seconds). so that means no fun with racing :S
It definitely was from myself, but i can't remember what they were. It's been about 3 years since I last played GT4 with my DFP since my disk broke. I want to get a new GT4 though, it's an awesome game!
Well it depends. If you get used to playing with the remote then playing with the steering wheel will be hard at first. If you're use to playing with the wheel, you'll think it's easier than playing with the remote. But if you're like me, you can play with both the remote and steering wheel so both seems pretty easy. I know it doesn't really answer your question but that's just how it is.
When i play GT4 with my wheel ( DFP too), the ffb is nonstop on.. i cant drive with 1 hand. its like you are turning a rusty screw.. which cant be moved 1 cm. do you know how to fix it ? Same problem on PC too
There's a way to make it turn. Mine was the same way, but if you observe my video, you'll notice that I'm not turning that much until my drift is actually initiated. But it isn't me doing the counter-steering.
I can't quite remember since it has been over a year and a half since I last played GT4 (It broke. =[). But I think it was a bit different from the default set up.
I use one hand too. I got the wheel before GT4 came and I've been drifting ever sence then. I have the G25 wheel now and I'm going to see if it works on the PS2 for GT4. I hope GT5 will be as fun as GT4 (drift)
hey did you know if u take the power cable out it makes the wheel like so nice u can turn it with a finger 900% try it lol its better 4 drifting aswell
That takes the fun out of everything. Not to mention that you have to put the wheel back to its original position. To me the wheel becomes useless at that point.
LOL u my hero .. I wondered why nobody drifts like that in vids ..every1 both hands.. they dont let ffb do its magic

But it isn't me doing the counter-steering.

that is rather amazing drifting...
i myself have been trying to learn to drift with the dfp...
what settings for the wheel are you running? seems much more responsive and controllable than mine...

I can't quite remember since it has been over a year and a half since I last played GT4 (It broke. =[). But I think it was a bit different from the default set up.

kk...
imma get back to learning it on saturday...
hahaha...

Do you have FF enabled when drifting? I got the wheel, and when I try to drift its very tough to turn the wheel so I always understeer...

Yea i had Force Feedback on. At first it seems tough to turn but it becomes easier as you use it.

I use one hand too. I got the wheel before GT4 came and I've been drifting ever sence then. I have the G25 wheel now and I'm going to see if it works on the PS2 for GT4. I hope GT5 will be as fun as GT4 (drift)

It is as fun as GT4. Honestly it's better to me. GT4 just has more tracks. =/

one hand steer does not make u a better driver =)

Indeed it doesn't. I'm just use to using one hand on Grand Turismo 4.

he don't slip on right end :\ all my cars do that, the driving aids are (i think)
asm oversteer = 0
asm understeer = 20
asm = 0
is this real? how do u that?
subarrel 2 years ago
hey did you know if u take the power cable out it makes the wheel like so nice u can turn it with a finger 900% try it lol its better 4 drifting aswell
lilsheppy 2 years ago
That takes the fun out of everything. Not to mention that you have to put the wheel back to its original position. To me the wheel becomes useless at that point.

Whats the difference between the Pro and GT? besides the red thing...
boobie284 2 years ago
It has some analog like sticks on the wheel for controlling stuff like TCS and ASM while playing GT.
SR20motorboy 2 years ago
oh thats it? cuz that just makes it 20$ more and that's the difference..... of course besides the fact that its easier to turn...
boobie284 2 years ago
Oh so it's easier to turn too.
