@LastDayStudios digi felt it was a good enough recreation of the 1176 they bought it, shows quite well they did a hell of a job ahaha but, doest it hold up to the CLA 1176, i may have to do some A and B'ing
I LOOOVED this format of ITL. The actual presets don't interest me, but when Dave bugs 'em about WHY they went with this or that there is HUGE benefit for a guy like me.
I love this show. I really wish you guys could do a step by step mastering episode on a crappy sounding track instead of stuff that is already mixed pretty good, for us noobs. Anyhow excellent episode!
@marcuelcajon I think you need to change your thinking. Why would you want to master a crappy sounding track? Crap in, crap out. You can't polish a turd. Learn the basics of achieving a decent mix then leave mastering up to the professionals. A professional mastering engineer has an acoustically tuned room and other plugins and outboard gear that he knows how to use. Mastering something crappy sounding is for the most part pointless.
@UrbanCrunkMovement Maybe I should have used a different word than crappy. But, leaving mastering up to the professionals' is exactly the opposite of what this show is about. I was basically saying what many others have been saying. And that is that I would like to see Dave mix a not so professionally mixed track from start to finish, considering that the ones in his videos are already sounding pretty close to the final mix.
@marcuelcajon Go to 23:00 and listen to what Ariel Chobaz says. Mastering isn't something you can do in a bedroom with KRKs and a macbook. If you're talking about mixing that's a different story. Mixing and mastering are different things.
Astonishingly good episode! Peter is incredible. What a presence. Seeing and hearing him speak solidifies the badassery that is Shadow Hills. Great ITL with Ariel, too. I'll definitely be watching this episode again and again. Thanks to all involved!
what a great episode. wasn't sure what it would be like to sit here and listen to a company owner push their products, but i was blown away. great choice guys. between that and this week's ITL, that was a favorite episode. def top 5. keep it up guy, this is great stuff.
Love the show. I however cringe every time Dave act's like a child while the guest is trying to finish a nuanced thought. So many of those thoughts never get returned to. But, I still love the show.
Holy Moly! Guys, I am not your core audience. I have said every vid before I am a hobbyist. Got a telecaster and an MBox. I have 20 years playing, but only 2+ trying to record my stuff and only for posterity. 10 1/2 Pro Tools sessions under my belt. Why the bio info? To tell you this episode did it again. Made me feel in the loop and like I am not wasting my time playing music. I feel like I am getting to hang with the cool kids at school - and I belong there! ITL was golden - Thanks a ton all!
best thing about this ITL is the back and forth ns10's in both mixer's setups. I noticed as I'm getting into tutorials...just piles and piles of ns10's everywhere!
Peter is so dark and creepy (in a good way). It's like he's a mad scientist.

i guess Dave doesn't even have to put his present-compressor in his signal chain, clicking switches and turning knobs is enough in itself LOL
