  • I hope his fuel filter catches the plastic shavings he just poured into his tank.

  • @dwasifar - never mind, he has a screen, should have watched to the end before I said anything.

  • @dwasifar @dwasifar spout of the can has a fine mesh filter , also there was not one shaving in the can anyways ,as a plastic drills into long curly shavings , and the twist of the but pulls them out , think about it ....

  • @towrecker Yeah, I posted before I watched to the end and saw that you had a screen in there. I thought sure you'd wind up with some shavings from reaming the hole with the bit going in and out, but the screen makes all the difference. Sorry about that. I did post a "never mind" followup but I guess you didn't see it.

  • @dwasifar well I have seen it now , I hadn't then though lol

  • @towrecker - Good video. I did a similar mod a while ago. Drilled a 1/2 inch hole in the gas can in the same area and used a coat hanger to pull one of those rubber wheel valves through the hole in the can from the inside and ditched the schrader valve. Same principle. I think your way was a little easier. Screw Al Gore.

  • New gas cans are a TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!! They don't have a vent port so they guzzle and spill all over the place. I have a car that I can not fill with gasoline because, it has a safety device in the gas tube ( on the vehicle ) and the small spouts will not reach it to push it open. Try using this NIGHTMARE gas can with one hand while fidling with the safety spout with the other. Sorry, but 5 gallons of gas going out at 1 gallon per minute gets pretty heavy. HORRIBLE!!! Destroy the safety feature!

  • @stevenabb you should see what I did to one of the new cans , I made a lock for the valve , and added a vent !!! it works even better than the old ones now ...don't tell al gore lmao !!

  • @stevenabb They sell long narrow funnels at the auto parts stores. You stick one of those in the fill hole and it holds the safety door open. You can then pour into the funnel from your can - after adding a vent hole. (all hypothetical, of course!)

  • LOL Love it!! I hate the new gas can!! I was about ready to have a tantrum trying to even work it!!

  • @NURSECHANEY well there is a cheap fix lol , and it works great !

  • That's Wat I did

  • I don't like the new gas cans with safety spout because with old cans

I use two hands to hold the gas can to pour gas and the new safety spout

you have to hold the the gas can with one hand and push the spout in it makes it pour gas makes me spill gas all over. it happened to our kerosene can so I take off the spout and

use funnel wish They still sold those old gas cans easy to use and no big mess!

  • @ScottAtwater1 they still sale the old iron sides galvanized cans , but the are marketed as a "utility" can , and say not for fuel use lol , but who is stopping you from using it for fuel lol

  • Air compressor petcock {bleeder valve} works better. Never lose a cap.

  • I've been using a 3/16 bolt. But I like your idea better. Nice job.

  • Nice Mod... I just was thinking about doing the same thing with valve stems... but I love your Tank Valve Idea better..... Looks like you got a nice old truck too... thanks for the tip.

  • Nice, now you got plastic shavings in your truck fuel tank.

  • @zunkted two things about that comment that make you full of it , for one there is a filter screen in the spout on the gas can , 2 I cleaned it out before I put more gas in it , there was nothing that got into the trucks tank , and for that mater there is far worse you pump into your tank at the cheapo gas stations , they are cheap for a reason !

  • @towrecker Two things about your comment - One I didn't know you had a filter screen on the spout, and two I wasn't trying to be mean about it. By the way thanks for the great video and awesome modification for them cheap gas tanks, I usually just drill a hole in the back of it and leave it and now nothing will spill after doing this mod.

  • @zunkted sorry dude , I guess I was kinda mean and outa line , thats the bad thing about things in type , you really don't know how they were stated , no expression .....

  • Someone needs to put a stop to these carb regulations and the stupid child prevention bs on these new cans. Bring back the good old jerry cans If a gas can is good enough for the military it should be good enough for civilian use.

  • I like it. So what about the EPA

They sit in an office they dont know about4 how the real world works

    Time is moeny

  • @nolatoolguy time sure is money ,but if you think about the gas can design you hold it with one hand while it gurgles ,and carries on resting the weight on that spout ,it breaks ,and the ground gets a big drink of gas . A vented can would spill a lot less ,but they can't see that pushing a pen at their desk ,I bet they have never mowed their lawn before ,or pumped their own gas ,there for they don't care ..agree ?

  • @towrecker

Couldnt of said it better myself.

  • I never understood the gas cans without the air valve in them... strange to me. Good workaround.

  • @lue1975lue it's like they don't want you to get the gas out of the can ,it looks like they are attempting to cut down on evap somehow ,but all the self venting cans seem to do is create more vapor by frothing the gas ...go figure lol

  • kool im glad it worked
