(assuming the game is part of the movie universe. we cant tell that until a movie 3)unclear, however there are some hints in the game that the show happened (or will happen) Slimer is out of the containment unit. the unit has a viewer. they can catch Stay puft. and in the game we go to ghost world, first seen on this show.

however this show takes place before movie 2...

Since Filmation put out a cartoon called Ghost Busters just before RGB was released to avoid legal disputes & confusion Columbia called it The Real Ghostbusters.

That title was a bit of a kick in the head for Filmation, like they were being told that their Ghostbusters were fake! LOL

Actually Ghostbusters was live-action in 1976 till 1977 then in 1984 GB was a huge success as it was the highest grossing comedy of that decade then in 1985 Filmation sued Columbia over the rights of the name. Thus an agreement was settled after Filmation wanted to do an animated show based Columbia's GBs as they had DIC/TMS do Real Ghostbustes while Filmation do the original Ghostbusters.
