There's a difference. The US has a trade embargo to put Cuba essentially in an economic choke hold. I'm against this, but it doesn't mean we are not free. And yes there are restrictions against you in the UK, just none of them have affected your life in a strong enough manner to bring it to your attention.
Not travel ones. I will say though that even though I have Family in USA I will never travel there because you have to give your fingerprints at a US airport to get in. I have nothing to hide but I resent being treated like a criminal. I can't think of any Country I am not allowed to travel to if I so wish UK government does not dictate to it's people although other countries have the right to refuse me a visa. As far as I am aware I am able to go wherever I like.
Now that is a completely valid reasoning to not go to America. I agree that our security measures are very high compared to Britain's (I would know I've traveled there before), but you surely understand why it is that we are like that. I'm trying to illustrate a point, sorry you don't understand. If healthcare is a right is food a right? What about water? Why should anyone have to pay for any of these "rights?" People should just go to the supermarket and get your food bill paid by taxes by that logic. Healthcare is a service and a DIFFICULT one at that. Doctors and nurses deserve to make a living, too, and not have to take a pay cut by working for the government.
Let's use the farmers, which you brought up, as an example. They work their 'tails' off, and have no insurance, since they work for themselves, and don't make enough money to afford it. What would you ask them to do when they're ill. Lay down and die?
They can buy insurance in the private market for a couple of hundred a month. And even if they didn't want to buy insurance, they can pay for the treatment out of pocket (or via credit.) Even better,they could do a little pre-planning by having a health savings account. There are plenty of ways to do it. Nobody "NEEDS" insurance.
It must be wonderful to be rich enough not to worry about it. Insurance costs over $800 a month, and how much do you think something like cancer costs? You have no heart at all. Believe me, I KNOW how much insurance costs, you can't afford it, but you can't afford NOT to have it.
I have insurance and it costs $100 a month so you are getting ripped off royally. I suggest shopping around more or raising your deductible. Or better, use that $800 a month to sock away into a Health Savings Acct and have insurance only for catastrophic events such as cancer. That's a better use of your money.
Think about it, $800/mo is almost $10,000/yr. If you put that into a savings account earning interest, you'd have a lot of money to use for healthcare and not having to pay for insurance.

Although come to think of it, the U.S. could possibly increase the supply of medical training facilities by removing all the licensing and accreditations it issues as requirements. Our government in many ways (through the AMA and FDA) do afford many medical related companies to construct barriers to protect their monopolies that would be non-existent in a free market.

I live in Belgium, Europe. I've seen the movie and have to admitt that not all the facts are right. For example, if you don't take an additional private health insurance in England, the waiting lists are VERY long. BUT, in Belgium, we have free health care for everyone AND no waiting lists!!!!! So Michael More May not have all the facts right but he is trying to make a point!!! A really good point. And free healthcare is possible, just look to Belgium!!!!!

There's a difference. The US has a trade embargo to put Cuba essentially in an economic choke hold. I'm against this, but it doesn't mean we are not free. And yes there are restrictions against you in the UK, just none of them have affected your life in a strong enough manner to bring it to your attention.

Not travel ones. I will say though that even though I have Family in USA I will never travel there because you have to give your fingerprints at a US airport to get in. I have nothing to hide but I resent being treated like a criminal. I can't think of any Country I am not allowed to travel to if I so wish UK government does not dictate to it's people although other countries have the right to refuse me a visa. As far as I am aware I am able to go wherever I like.

People should just go to the supermarket and get your food bill paid by taxes by that logic. Healthcare is a service and a DIFFICULT one at that. They can buy insurance in the private market for a couple of hundred a month. And even if they didn't want to buy insurance, they can pay for the treatment out of pocket (or via credit.) Even better,they could do a little pre-planning by having a health savings account. There are plenty of ways to do it. Nobody "NEEDS" insurance.

I have insurance and it costs $100 a month so you are getting ripped off royally. I suggest shopping around more or raising your deductible. Or better, use that $800 a month to sock away into a Health Savings Acct and have insurance only for catastrophic events such as cancer. That's a better use of your money.

Although come to think of it, the U.S. could possibly increase the supply of medical training facilities by removing all the licensing and accreditations it issues as requirements. Our government in many ways (through the AMA and FDA) do afford many medical related companies to construct barriers to protect their monopolies that would be non-existent in a free market.

So many people are saying that Micheal Moore lies and distorts the truth, even if this is true, the fact remains that too many people ARE dying here because they aren't getting the help that they need. This is the main point of the movie and really the only thing that should matter! The importance of life should not be determined by money. Many people are dying over an amount comparable to buying a house. That's saying a house is more valuable than a life, SAD!

I live in Belgium, Europe. I've seen the movie and have to admitt that not all the facts are right. For example, if you don't take an additional private health insurance in England, the waiting lists are VERY long. BUT, in Belgium, we have free health care for everyone AND no waiting lists!!!!! So Michael More May not have all the facts right but he is trying to make a point!!! A really good point. And free healthcare is possible, just look to Belgium!!!!!

Yes maybe whilst they are still accumulating skill but when they make consultant (if they are good enough)they can earn in excess of £120k ($250k). Do you want a system that because of the money making principle average and below average doctors make ludicrous sums of money their skill does not warrant just because people can't avoid getting ill. That is abuse of a monopoly system if ever I heard of one.
