My biggest criticism of American Idol is that most of the biggest idols in a LOT of folk music genres (rock, folk, blues, country, rap) could never have gotten through the auditions. Like imagine Elvis, John Lennon, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson, Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre... (the list goes on and on) auditioning.

So the show should really be American Plastic Prefab Fad Idol, and the show is to music careers what Playboy is to acting careers.
