Incredible, brought tears to my eyes! Grew up on this stuff it was on teevee. I remember 1970 i was 12 and Sabbath just came out with their 1st album, Lord Sutch and Heavy Friends... Yes, Santana, Blood, Sweat & Tears...
My favorite all time song. And yeah he was HOT i was just so young at that time i was into Danny. Looking at this now David looks so much like my first husband that it's weird that i never noticed it back in 1974. Cool though since all pic's were distroyed my daughter can see what her father looked like back before she was born vs 36 years later. It's uncanny how much they resemble each other prior to Cassidy having his teeth fixed.
@timothyh71 yes she is. in real life she's a sweetheart & that is why she & David Cassidy got along so well. also you have to give credit to S. Jones for D. Cassidy's career. thank goodness he sang on the show & the recordings.after three seasons D. Cassidy wanted to quit the series. Rick Springfield was to replace him. i believe after one more season the series was cancelled. it was a funny but great series w/ family morals. the music was beautiful.****
Incredible to think this clip is 41 years old. There are more years between us and this episode than there are between the clip and WW 2. In fact, 41 before the air date it was 1929! It isn't the numbers, but the vast changes in such short time frames. Blows my mind!
When I was a young teenager and this show was popular, I couldn't decide who I was more in love with, Shirley Jones or Susan Dey. They were both so beautiful.
What's interesting this tune also became a #1 tune on the Billboard Magazine's HOT 100 charts before the show premiered (sort of what happened with the Monkees' "Last Train To Clarksville" four years earlier). I remember that vividly, because 1969 - 1970 when I was 6 years old was the first year I rode a bicycle and this tune, at least part of it, in the extended version, when David does that deep voice, where he sings, "I don't know what I'm up against. I don't what it's all about."
According to the original character bio Shirley was only 35 when the show started, so do the math, Keith is 16. Of course I don't think Shirley's character's age is ever mentioned on the show.
@supobostarman Not only is Shirley Jones young in this, she looks far more beautiful than Laurie (Susan Dey) or any of the other teenagers in the crowd. Who wouldn't trade their figure for her shapely curves, radiant skin and pearly white smile? David Cassidy may have appealed to the teenage audience but I'm sure Shirley Jones made many adult hearts flutter.
Ain't that the truth :) Glad you like the HQ version. It's been digitally remastered for transmission on Australian digital TV and put in 16:9 format. How lucky are we? I'm recording ALL the episodes in this format.
I wanted to date Keith (David) for obvious reasons- I dig his hair and voice and his guitar playing.

Harpsicord, vocals, good looks, groovy outfits, bubblegum lyrics, drums, guitar, harmonies all come together and unite in a symphony of perfection.

@sneezyize many of us young guys would try to imitiate his voice even though none of us had that deep a voice to do so.
