@Angelrat70 That's debatable because the USA, UK, France, and Germany all have very similar MBTs, and since all the countries are allies you can't really prove which is the greatest. Russia may cause all these countries to overhaul and redesign their MBTs soon because of thier T-99 which will be one of the safest tanks in the world and will also be the 1st tank to be designed to work with Russia's new IFV/APC. But still, not much is known about it, nor the US M1A3 and German L2A7+
@Freemon34Comms You have a good point...but with tank competitions, most of the time the Leo 2 tanks won (Germany, NL, Canada)...been a while tho...also it has now a better gun and better mobility compared to the Challenger 2 and Abrams...and with the added chobham armour it's equal on that department, but it used to have the best long distance .armour as well...I think we can agree the command and crew will make the difference, and not the specifications of the tanks...

With that that said the Mirkava is no where near as good as the leo and the Abrams in firepower and armor.

@meee2014 The Mirkava's armor length is still classified but its probably not thicker than the Abram's 600 mm. Even if it were thicker the nickel-steel alloy is outdated compared to chobham armor and ceramic tungsten armor.

That's the stridsvagn 122. It's the Swedish version of the German leopard 2. It is not the "biggest" tank in the world. Discovery did call it the best though.

You however were struggling with fuel problems, and even lost a few tanks to a tank that was basically shot itself in the foot, and couldnt even fire while moving.

u Germans know about making one hell of a tank but obviously not about winning a war. with the biggest and heaviest tank, u get spotted easily. it might be maneuverable, but cant be transported. such complex technology cant be mass produced in the thousands. even with Germany's high defense budget they only have 400 of these.

@FlauschigeFeder The Leo II is a kick-ass tank to be sure. But it's just a tank. And unfortunately like all modern MBT's it is woefully inadequate for it's primary mission of supporting infantry. A L70/120mm gun is great for taking out other MBTs, but not much else. A 120mm mortar-gun with 30mm coax capable of high elevation and a remote 5.57/30mm auto grenade launcher would support infantry 100 times better. And that's what tanks are for, right?

I think all the top tanks in the world has the firepower to take out every other tank. None has the protection to withstand a direct hit. So it all comes down to the crew and training and the tanks electronic. Thumbs up if you agree!
I love reading these 'my countries tank is better than your countries tank' debates. It's not just about the machine, but the people that control it. Training and experience is more important than firepower and protection. The most well armed , armoured, and advanced tank is useless without a properly trained and motivated crew inside to control and utilise it to its full potential.
@Jasonbjamin russia tried on with the T72 but it took up so much space you had to be a midget to man the tank and it also kept taking off arms as it tried to load the gunners arm into the breach.
Biggest tanks or in terms of weight was the Maus VIIII weighting 188 metric ton. Two hulls where built but only one recieved a turret. It's also said it saw action outside the factory however it can be speculated whetever it did or did not. It was captured by Soviets and is now in a Russian museum. Tested...key word there. Many things are "tested" and promoted to look like the best in its class. For enough money you can get any scientist in any country to promote anything. Just ask the Nobel folks As far as 'ignorant', 'rant', and 'power hungry warmonger'. Nothing like that, what, are you French and so easily offended? The Leo2 is the best Tank no worries but why ?
because its much newer then tanks like the M1 Abrams or the MK2 Challanger.
the Leo2 was build with less "Problems" because other tanks already had them and the creater of the Leo2 made a Tank with all + from the other tanks but less - from the other tanks.
btw the Abrams is not Crap compared to this one its just older, now go flame about my comment and cry !

@ImProudrobeDutch no.. The P-1000 "Ratte" was the 2nd biggest tank PLANNED. The P-1500 "Monster" is the biggest tank that ever had a blueprint. With its 125 Meters, 1500 tons, 800 MM Dora gun, 2 150 MM howitzers, multiple 7 MM MGs, this tank had a strong spot= scaring the f*** out of the enemy.

u Germans know about making one hell of a tank but obviously not about winning a war. with the biggest and heaviest tank, u get spotted easily. it might be maneuverable, but cant be transported. such complex technology cant be mass produced in the thousands. even with Germany's high defense budget they only have 400 of these.

The biggest does not mean better, remember Tiger (Heavy tank) was big tank but T-34 76 ( Medium Tank) knock it out in 300 m. ( side of course)
With development of new anti-tank missiles making big, does not mean it would be the best.

@Andrey222ful possible but in reality very few tigers were ever lost to other tanks-many simply ran out of fuel,aircraft with rockets were deadly,not to mention the fine sabotage of a slave workforce. Loss of rare earth metals for alloys greatly reduced the armor metalurgy as well...Tigers and Panthers are actually grossly UNDERRATED

@FlauschigeFeder The Leo II is a kick-ass tank to be sure. But it's just a tank. And unfortunately like all modern MBT's it is woefully inadequate for it's primary mission of supporting infantry. A L70/120mm gun is great for taking out other MBTs, but not much else. A 120mm mortar-gun with 30mm coax capable of high elevation and a remote 5.57/30mm auto grenade launcher would support infantry 100 times better. And that's what tanks are for, right?

MADE IN SWEDEN. The original tank is the German Leo 2, But this one is made in sweden on licens, Scania V12 engine and other cool stuf that the German version dosent have. And the Abrams is crap compared to this one

I love reading these 'my countries tank is better than your countries tank' debates. It's not just about the machine, but the people that control it. Training and experience is more important than firepower and protection. The most well armed , armoured, and advanced tank is useless without a properly trained and motivated crew inside to control and utilise it to its full potential.

Biggest tanks or in terms of weight was the Maus VIIII weighting 188 metric ton. Two hulls where built but only one recieved a turret. It's also said it saw action outside the factory however it can be speculated whetever it did or did not. It was captured by Soviets and is now in a Russian museum. The first and last surviving Maus VIIII ever built.
