Also, looking at the Elkhorn Rd bridge, the fate looks like they're gonna dig down to the railbed and make an at-grade crossing. There just isn't enough traffic in Carroll Co to justify replacing it with a bridge. Wouldn't suprise me in the least if that happened to the other bridges (west of M-ville, this one) The Iris St Bridge will probably sit there until time knocks it down. and the one at Big Cut may suffer that too, depending on who really uses that road over Airport/Wacker.
hey bill, is there a website or something that explains the difference between locomotives? Dash 8-9, SD40-50-60-70-80-90, ES40-44, c44-9W-8W? I'd really love to be able to tell the difference. lol -.-
As far as the fate of these wooden bridges, I can tell you that Carroll Co isn't interested in replacing them, as they have next to no funding for roads. One could try to declare them historical and thereby preserve one, but it will probably sit there and face the same fate that the Iris St. Bridge in Savanna is facing right now. At least it looks to be in better shape than the wooden/iron bridge on Big Cut Rd. at Burke, which is now missing some floorboards.
It's funny that BNSF has more TOFC trains than container trains. The J.B. Hunts, Schneiders, UPSs, etc are all Trailers.Maersk, Evergreen, Italia, Hyundai, Hapag Llyod, EMP, APL, Triton, China Shipping, Matson, CSXT, CN, ZIM, and all those others are containers.Nice shot.
According to the information I can find, this might be Z-PTLCHC that runs from Portland Oregon to Chicago

@IAISrailfanner The time of day is about right for when that train typically runs by this area. Thanks.

@Hiei2k7 I guess the wooden bridges have done what had to. It may be time.
