This episode aired on November 3, 1966, which makes it two years before the 68 presidential election, and the year for most state gubernatorial elections.
yeah who doesnt like seeing a chubby man who waddles instead of walks and wears a goofy suit and a purple hat and a monicle beat the heck out of everybody with an umbrella with a boxing glove on the end of it......wow....
and just think McCain ALMOST got away with further looting of the Treasury! Thank you BatBama!
Fortunately, voters remembered the words of a true American patriot: 'I confidently trust that the American people will prove themselves too wise not to detect the false pride or the dangerous ambitions or the selfish schemes which so often hide themselves under that deceptive cry of mock patriotism: Our country, right or wrong!
'They will not fail to recognize that our dignity, our free institutions and the peace and welfare of this and coming generations of Americans will be secure only as we cling to the watchword of true patriotism: Our country—when right to be kept right; when wrong to be put right.' Carl Schurz (19th century U.S. Senator (and immigrant))
@im4wur Still this is just a tv show and people have no need to compare this to real for example you care about comparing a tv show to real politics when you should only be caring about real politics and not the tv show, the show is only for entertainment, and that is the only point I am getting across with that I will end this conversation.
@1Historygenius - Events are more 3-dimensional than you convey them be. Or as Hamlet said: "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
Haha, see, it's cute how they made it known that Cheif O'Hara and the Penguin are probably the two most rival characters. They're always slamming one another with rude comments whenever they get the chance.
AT 4:45 The Penguin sure makes some funny threats at Commissioner Gordon & Chief O'Hara. XDDDDDDDDD

This episode is fucking brilliant, for all the wrong (right?) reasons, just like the rest of the series.
I watched this show all the time on TV Land as a kid. Even after growing admiration for a "darker" portrayal of Batman, I still love this show.

Bats breaks the fourth wall again with his speach about the voters, was there an election in the USA at the time of broadcast or something?

@im4wur You do know this is just a tv show?

@1Historygenius - Two years ago it was political theater, but I'm surprised that a "history genius" doesn't recognize the effect of the lens of time.
