  • i learned how to do th muti phonic in 3 months

  • what kind of tuba is that

  • This video video is full of win.

    :D

  • DANG THAT"S HECK OF COOL!!! I'm learning how to play it too...i got the music from a friend that got the sheet music but yeah....That was heck of good though

  • boffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

  • Very well played actually! I wish you had a better quality sound recorder, I want to hear that in high def! :D

  • Multiphonics is so easy on the tuba cause I had to teach my self and then I just use it anywhere in music

  • they're easiest on tuba but they certainly aren't easy

  • He uses Multiphonics! That Means : he Plays a tone an he sings a tone troug 1 tuba ;)

And the Melody hes playing is Named Fnugg Blue

  • Not sure how this has 28,854 views

  • well heres an expert talking (:

  • I think theoretically you should be playing it a 4th below what you are playing it, since mr. baadsvik plays it on an Eb tuba, and starts on a Bb, you are playing on a C tuba and (if you want to keep it the same tuba-range wise) you should start on a G. But it doesn't really matter, it sounds great.

  • nice this is a very hard song to play especially singing it into the tuba lol i forgot the technical term

  • Now thats how fnugg should really be played!!!

  • Well done. 5 stars!!!

  • ok who is Mr.Oystien's and what is his website

  • that is good.. nice

  • 25k views! Nice playing man. I teach tuba in Michigan, and I must say, you do a great job with polyphonics. Not a lot of players ever get that fluent with them. Good work.

  • is that what you call it in the U.S. ?

Im just wondering because in the U.K. we call it multi phonics.

  • It is multi phonics, but the name of the piece he's playing is called "Fnugg"

  • In the US it is better known as "poly-toning" simply b/c, well, "poly" means "multiple" and "toning" is a tonal note produced through an instrument, or is that word different in the UK too?

  • @Danezimus I actually only ever hear it referred to as Multiphonics and I'm from the US :p

  • no it's multiphonics. i dont know why he calls it "polyphonics"

  • where did you get the sheet music for this

  • please go Mr.Oystien's website......

  • lol....

this isnt so good as oystien!!!!

  • I got to play this with Oystein.....awesome job!

  • guys, not to mention this guy looks about what, 15-19? He's not old enough to be a teacher. He's done a great job.

    Kudos to you.

  • yeahh nice,...i know how difficult it is

  • too bad its 3:06 already...FAIL

  • do you realize how difficult it is to sing and play at the same time and keep a good tone?

    you're an idiot.

  • yeah seriously

im learning this piece and im a chick

and the voice range of a chick is different than a mans

imagine how hard it is for me :/

  • Sameee : /

  • yeah I would imagine that would be harder, I'm a bass three so it's all good ;)

  • Check out kalsowje, mr. technical. Just let the guy play the tune and show off his skills. He's not with a band so he doesn't need to transpose. He can do what he wants. Which is what he's done. And it sounds great. And it entertained me for nearly 3 minutes.

  • The beginning should be much slower (in my opinion) the suggested tempo is 56 BPM but the time for the beginning section can be entirely free flowing so try slowing it down and having more fun with the multiphonics at the start. Especially in measures 8-10, where you are playing an E flat and dropping your voice from a 5th to a 3rd to an octave!

  • Also with the C-tuba you do know you are supposed to transpose the music correct? Open (Bb) becomes first finger (Ab). Play the note that is written down a whole step carrying over the flats and sharps.

  • sounds good man. keep it up! makes me wish i had a tuba so i could try this!....though i could also just buy a didgeridoo and practice with that.....

  • madre mia lo k es capaz d acer un niño d estos k basto,, lo clava al tio vaya enorawena

  • awesome job you did there

    bravo

  • Cool man! Thanks for posting this.

  • sounds awesome!

  • really nice but way too fast at parts.

  • im wondering why this comment got so many thumbs down

  • Good job. I am impressd how well you picked up on that song and techniques needed to play it.

  • This is really great! you're freakin awesome! i've been playing the tuba for almost 2 years now, and i must say, you're very impressive. keep up the great work! love the song

  • i really want that fnug score/ music sheet

  • i love fnugg I've always wanted to learn play it

  • it sounds like an native indian chant^^

  • AGREED

  • wow. that's really good, singing in tune while playing is really difficult. at least for me. great job!!!

  • Great job mate! That's excellent. I also play the Tuba- 4 valve Eb.. and I want to learn this!!

Where did you get the music sheets from Fnugg?

  • You're Good Yo

    Make All-State?

    Got The Sheet Music?

    and

Be Sure To Not Chop Off Your Notes, Ok?

  • im sorry i gotta correct people

    it is called multiphonics

but the proper term is Polyphonics

  • You know poly means multi, right?

  • Dude, you're great!

  • c tellement bo sa ya comme toue le beat la music la voix aek tout sa ds un tuba la jaime tellemtn sa

  • Impressive

  • Good job my friend. Very nicely done. Dont listen to these guys, most of them don't even know whata tuba is. Are the multiphonics done as octaves? Or do you actually sing 5ths and stuff?

  • this is awsome!!!!

i wish the tubas in my band were this good

they suck bad in my band...

  • releas the the spit vale

  • uh, dude. thats multi-phonics. the point of this solo.

  • God i hate how all the tuba players rate themselves to the person playing. 'NOt bad, but i think i may be better, that solo is easy, I'm first chair so i must be awesome'. No one cares about how good you are, just listen to the music and stop analyzing it like your a damn music professor. Good job man, Keep playing.

  • shut up father dumbass

  • do not shun reality

  • Would you prefer me saying God damn! Jesus Christ? Have an open mind and allow people to do what they do best, be individuals...

  • You sound like your yelling through it.

  • Thats the point.

btw Really good! It sounds better on a CC.

Öystein Baadsvik is my idol :)

  • it sounds even better on an Eb

  • I dont think so.

  • well, Mr. Baadsvik himself plays the Eb and i've yet to see anyone play it better than him.

  • You havent seen it YET

  • well, let me know something whenever you make a name for yourself as one of the few remaining tuba soloists living off of their solo career.

  • I didnt said that I would do it better. And yes, its said that there are so few tuba soloists that can live on playing.

  • well it's also Mr. Baadsvik's piece. Probably has something to do with it.

  • good job man!

  • then if its sooo easy why dont some of you make a video and post it on here, and inhale all the harsh comments that are pulling this young and talented musician down??

  • i'm not pulling them down, first i don't play tuba and 2nd i didn't said it's bad?

  • it's nice, still the singing and double tones isn't that hard once u found the right technics it's fixed.

    still, nice done;)

  • Huh maybe im wrong but i think its a bit sharp..! Are you studying at a conservatory?

  • How old are you? that was really good! Im first chair all-state in SC. you are probably a little better than me, but it would be close. i need sheet music for this though.

  • I can rip that solo, but I play a B Flat and for about 3.5. Anyway, the solo itself is not hard, and with some practice, multiphonics are easy too. And I only practice for about an hour a day on weekdays. It sounds great, just work on lip beats and sing in tune! Good luck!

  • This song kicks all. Really good for a five year player, I'm learning this tune on the Bass Trombone. I'd love to play a Contrabass Trombone solo at my high school though. Go Low Brass!

  • with the lip beat you simply build up pressure behind your tongue ad let it out as fast as you can and stop it as fast as you can, and if you can do it fast enough as baadsvik does, it will become double tongueing. You can dont actually suck the air out to make the sound, you can't play a real fast or steady beat that way. hope that helps ya..=]

  • thanks a lot ~~~~!

  • yo bro ....Good job

  • what model/type of tuba is that? and where are you?

    usa, state?

  • wow, pretty awesome

  • the only thing i would criticize is the lip-beat. keep working at it. sounds GREAT

  • yo u've only been playing 5 years? how much do u practice?

  • about 3 hours a day

  • NICE STUFF DUDE! Impressive! how long have you been playing the tuba? again good job!

  • i play tuba nearly 5 years

  • Its supposed To Sound like That you hater's. Good Job.

  • so nice! very good!

  • pretty cool. I know its a bit of a tough picce. Im not sure if its the sound recording, but I think you cold have a fuller tone. Listen to baadsvik. He accents the second beat of the 2/2 strongly. this gives more pulse, to "beef" it up. slightly different lip beat sound. - I like it!02

  • good work boy, continues working and it was listened to to you better, luck

  • It looks like you're shattered at the end of that! Great attempt though, keep up the hard work :)

  • Baadsvik (tubaad) said he did good

  • Baadsvik thrash ur balls!

  • Good job!

  • that was very nice! performing using multiphonics is very tough.
