I think the reason episode 1 was so bad because all it is, is a pod race, a lightsaber duel, and a space battle (in which the nabooans were way too overpowered). The rest is just political bullshit. I mean who the fuck wants to see a bunch of people rant and debate about a pointless invasion of a pussy ass planey thats ruled by a queen that wears make-up like a clown, has the wierdest fucking hair, and has a really shity accent!!!!!!
I actually thought that Phantom Menace was A LOT better than Attack of the Clones. In fact, I consider that movie to be the only "bad" Star Wars movie there is(if there can be such a thing). The only thing I found nice about it is that it portrayed Yoda in a light saber battle for the first time ever and fighting the guy we find out was his padawan....priceless...like a a lesson about how destinies can repeat.
@masteryoda120988 I agree. Attack of the Clones was the only Star Wars film that I really disliked. Phantom Menace wasn't that great, but it had some cool moments like the fight at the end with Maul, and Revenge of the Sith was actually pretty good.
Phantom Menace actually does a lot for me even today. I saw it in theaters when I was six, so it has a lot of nostalgic value. I completely agree that the original trilogy is superior and that the prequels are very flawed, but Episode 1 actually has my all-time-favorite lightsaber fight.
While I wasn't born seeing the first Star Wars movie (A New Hope) I actually did enjoy Phantom Menace as a kid and even now. Episode 2 was good for me cause I always seem to watch it all the time. Episode 3 great and I remember seeing the scene where Anakin turned to Darth Vader, I was unaware of the original Trilogy, and I screamed no like that shouldn't happen to the hero. And after that I became a Star Wars fan for Life (sort of).
I would consider myself part of the new generation, I saw all the movies in chronological release. I didnt like the first one, I saw the originals first and I loved seeing the third one in theaters. these movies will always be close to me.
I agree that the original trilogy is better then the prequels and that episode III was the best of the prequels but I havent seen the unaltered versions of the original trilogy.
I loved episode 1, it was the first and only time my dad ever took me to the theaters as a kid. Episode 2 I didn't really care for, until it came close to the end and the clone wars begun.
Episode 3 was really good. I remember being super excited for it.
Episode 4, 5, and 6 will be the first movies my kids will see in the Star wars saga. I want them to experience it the way I did.
I swear everyone hates all the prequels just to fit in. I always argue with my friend that episode 3 was actually pretty good, but he's adamant that it's awful just because it's a prequel.
I heard their putting back Episode 1 in theaters in 3D. I wasn't too happy about it, I wish they just put back the original trilogy in theaters instead. I saw this when I was a kid in the 90s with my uncle on VHS. I want to see it in theaters, it's somthing that I need off my list.
@billruller There putting ALL of the six movies in theaters.im guessing were going to have to wait 3 more years for the start of the original trilogy in 3D,if they decide to release the movies by year.
i just like movies lol...i don't have to make them. And I'm of the opinion that just because it's digital doesn't mean it was easy to put together and present to you the viewer...plus, if you can do better...let's see it! I like this whole series along with all the films that inspired it and films inspired by it.
Captainawesome, do u need to need to correct him on every video? Ur missing the point. And episode 3 sucked donkey dick. Why would he bother pronouncing grievous right?
@TheZiggirawk would you please be subjective here? Just because some people dissagree with you, or James for that matter, does not imply that YOU have to correct them either. I liked episode 3, fuck, i even enjoyed most parts of episode 2. Does that mean that i think that the old movies were worse? No, i think all of the Star Wars movies, has some significant value to it. Your opinon is not the universal law of everything. Just let people have a good time with the prequels if they liked them ey?
There was set o have another 3 films made, but George Lucas was offended by his fans showing him that the prequel trilogy was bad, and now he threw a hissy fit and is retiring after Red Tails.
couldn't have said it better myself. Very well done! Especially the final question you end with. How will you present these to your kids? A very good question indeed.
@opszanski No, they weren't. Quite the contrary, they were the biggest shit I've seen in films, ever. The last 15 minutes were overindulgent and pretentious. It's a joke how people suck Lucas' cock just because it's Star Wars and some visual effects. I bet that if you removed the title "Star Wars", the prequels wouldn't get the idiotic praise it gets by retarded fanboys.
@FoggyFishburne "they were the biggest shit I've seen in films, ever."? That's a little excessive. Yeah they were quite bad, but not bottom of the barrel horrible. It's funny you say people like it because it has "Star Wars" as the title when really it's the title why people hate it. Episode 3 was pretty decent. Look at the critic consensus, it's considered better than episode 6.
@opszanski fighting on extremely fake hot lava for like 20 minutes? wow so intense. its fucking boring and overdone. episode 3 was the worst star wars movie by a long shot
@opszanski I didn't like Episode 1 & 2. Episode 3 is better, I didn't expect it to be good when I saw it in theaters lol Episode 1 was kinda boring and forgettable. Episode to was...eh, but not as bad as Episode 1. It's something I see once and never see it again. Episode 3, I will watch over and over. It has a great start and emotional ending. That's the only prequal I can accept.
the only thing I dont like about growing up after the star wars trilogy came out was that the fact that darth vader was lukes father was propgated throughout culture and ruined the twist for me
I feel really bad for most actors in the prequels. I don't think 1 or 2 were THAT bad, but because of them, most actors in them got a bad name. MacGregor I think is a geniunely good actor. If you consider how wooden his script is mostly, he actually plays his role really, really well, and episode III really saw him shine. I think Christensen has "Pattison syndrome", where the actor knows his script is shit and doesn't give a fuck about actually acting it out well. He might be OK, maybe, perhaps.
In the end of Return of the Jedi, I loved seeing Skywalkers face when it wasnt burnt form the dath vader mask, so I was pissed when it showed the more Revenge of the Sith version
I'm old enough that I saw the original trilogy in the theater when they were first released, but I still like the prequels. Yes, Jar Jar was the worst thing since the ewoks - okay, worse. Yes, Anakin in 1 was a little punk and Christianson was a wooden actor. On the other hand, the Jedi's in general made Luke like a country squire. The light saber battle at the end of episode 1 was epic with the music. Jango fight in 2, great. The storyline of the republic and the emperors rise - fantastic.
I'm pretty sure not everybody is gonna like this idea. But I think George Lucas should stop with all the re releasing crap and make an Episode 7. With the same actors, taking place after Return of the Jedi, and make it dark and cold. Also, give it a better writer to make the dialogue more believable and dramatic.
@KTH568 I hope he does too. Though you should know that episodes 7 through 9 do exist in novel form. There are some Big spoilers so I won't blab about them xD
one thing I don't understand in a new hope when c3p0 and r2 are in the dessert 3p0 says he doesn't want any more adventures which means that the have had adventures in the past but at the end of episode 3 they have there memories erased so how do they remember each other as well as previous adventures ?
I didn't really care about the singing part, but the female singer is annoying. I liked Episode I, II, III and I seem to be the only one who ever liked II. I mean the war in the Colosseum was fucking awesome.
I'm 13. Episode IV was the best, VI was second best, then Episode V, then Episode III, and both episodes I and II aren't very good. Also, the holiday special sucks, and the clone wars movie also wasn't that good.
What you fail to mention is how episode II brought in politics and government into part of what star wars enveloped, along with some mystery. Episode 1 was like anakins trial by fire and it is basically an introductory episode. And if you watch what palpatine does throughout the prequels its hard not to think of the snake in the garden of eden. But episode III was the best, it showed how the emperor is like satan and anakin is the antichrist.
i liked all the movies but 4 5 and 6 are the best. i remember seeing return of the jedi in theaters with my mom back in the 90s and since then ive been a fan. i havent seen them in some time and i need to
@ryanrox17 I'll admit, I don't think all the changes they made with the rereleases were that bad. Like the Sarlacc's beak, I thought that one was pretty interesting. But let's face it, changing a scene so that a character who originally never got a shot off not only shoots, but shoots FIRST just to please those in your audience who dislike gray morality enough to complain about it, and by extension subtly insult the intellect of the rest of your audience, is kind of a dick-move.
I think people put too much thought in the movies, yes they startled the franchise. But now there is so much more history and life to star wars that the movies only take up a small fraction of star wars history. The books, comics, and videogames give a huge expansion to the star wars franchise, some of it even better than the original movies and I think that fans should expand their minds to remember that.
Aside from jar jar and darth vader saying NO again. Star wars will always a place with
to answer your question james: Kids don't give a fuck about star wars anymore to quote every single person I've ever met " Star Wars?, gay!" all they wanna do is play Call Of Duty on their Xbox and not explore what other games or movies they like
unaltered versions 4 5 6 first then 1 2 3 and the edited changed around versions they can watch themselves :D i dont care who shot first and stuff but all the digital extra-crap they put in just doesnt do it.
i'm 15, though i grew up watching 1-6 instead of 4-6, then 1-3, i'm going to show my kids the original way it was meant to be shown, i won't hint anything, but just place him in front of hours of original footage.
i don't know what to expect for the 3D releases but as just for seeing the movies in theaters I can't wait I've only seen episode 3 in theaters but i was 8 years old and couldn't really appreciate it much but now i'm older can understand the saga a lot better
one way to watch the saga is by starting from 4 and 5 and then watching 1,2 and 3 like it would be a flashback and then finnish the saga with episode 6
I'm part of the newer generation of Star Wars fans that grew up with episode 1, 2 and 3 rather than the originals and I can say that the originals are far better, the only thing that I loved about episode 1 was Darth Maul, he was such a fuckin badass, it's a shame he hardly had any lines and then died at the end.
Lucas should make 789 or The Force Unleashed or KotoR instead of the same 6 we've seen 300 times with different effects.Order seen4,5,6,1,2,3(first time)1,2,3,4,5,6(second time).
@julexguiltyspark Suuuuuree it does, and I'm about to get a million dollars out of the sky! It's just the remake to 3d of the same 6 movies(more the ruination of them).
I saw the new star wars movies first and i thought wow this is just awesome but when i watched the older ones i thought holy fucking god this is the greatest movie series ever made
Star Wars(1977): The story is flawlessly built up to it's climax, giving Star Wars the perfect balance of style and substance. The Empire Strikes Back: A perfect continuation of the story. Return of the Jedi: An emotionally satisfying cap on the trilogy. The Phantom Menace: Replacing the emotional connection that made the originals so great with lame characters, unfunny toilet humour and CGI. Attack of the Clones: Bad love story meets meaningless action. Revenge of the Sith: Poorly executed.
When I have kids, im gonna show them the movies in the order they were made! The original trilogy first (theatrical version) then the prequals, and then the remastered originals!
5:16 I agree time has passed for Darth Vader (like some 20 years or so) he would look like he did in the first return of the jedi (not the re-release)
I grew up with the prequels seeing them in chronological order. I had never seen the originals so I didn't know what to expect, so I didn't think the phantom menace was that bad when I first saw it. I see its flaw today of course but attack of the clones is worse in my opinion. At least phantom menace had a mix of puppetry and cgi; clones was ALL cgi. both are flawed but phantom menace wins because it blended the new and the old. the cgi in clones was good but not good enough to really amaze
I remember going to watch Phantom Menace when it came out. I felt depressed. It was soulless and boring. It was like watching Aliens, then Alien 3. Very bad.
The action scenes of all three prequels are undoubtedly awesome (except the Gungan "warriors" scene), but yeah, I felt some of the "romantic" dialogue left something to be desired.
what james said it had a crappy love story, while others citied christensen's acting(it had best performaces in catina in coruscant, some of anakin's vaderisms, etc.), jedi acting dumb, and still jar jar. but in my opinion, it's a worth watching this movie.
as a kid i loved episode one i mean i was but after re-watching it and seeing what other people its not so bad its a good movie on its own but compared to the other movies its not as strong as than them but i still love all the movies
ON THE TOPIC OF EPISODE 1 it's not a bad film at all, i enjoyed it more than Avatar. it was the first one i watched and i thought it set up the story well and Qui-gon was not pointless. i then watched the original trilogy then ep. 2 and 3. i found all the movies were egually as good. i think what has happened here is back in the 80s there had neva been movies like star wars before so they though it was so epic. then they had way to high expectations for SW 1. just my opinion though. they all roc
@robbedthief you're right about the high expectations part but you should watch Redlettermedia's review for episode I if you haven't already, he explains why episode 1 was a bad film
@robbedthief Obviously just your opinion. I was a 90s kid and was 8 years old when the Phantom Menace came out so I had no high expectations other than for it to be a good film but I can't stand the prequels anymore. "High expectations" is really just an excuse to defend the prequels without really putting any effort into it.
my older bro (now is 22) showed me the movies like this: A New Hope,The Empire Strikes Back, The Return of The Jedi,Phantom Menece, Attack of The Clones, and last but not least Revenge of The Sith. Thats the way that I think they should be shown in because it just makes it feel classic
I love how you think of things that I have never would have done! the way younger generation will look at the series another way than before.
I did not even know there was differences in the movies! sure i now understand that some effects were too good to be from 1975, but before i knew that they made differences U just did not think of it.
I Find this extremely annoying, at my age i cant find one original non edited Star Wars movie, i hated the dance scene in Jaba's palace and it made all of my friends mock a brilliant movie.
My favorite is Empire strikes back, and if i was to pick a prequel it would be Episode III.
The final cut on the Blu Ray where Han kills Greedo is much more tight. Greedo still shoots first, but it looks like he genuinly missed. Also, one of the special features disc contains a rough early cantina scene version, and there, Han is the only one who shoots.
I agree with you. probably because of ewoks, but return of the jedi is a good movie too. in revenge sith, fans hated some nitpicks like love story, some of wooden acting, jedi acting dumb, overuse of CGI. but revenge of the sith is a worth watching this film
Bad thing about Star Wars movies and great movies in general, they are much better when you are a kid than you are a adult because it was your first real great experience, your expectations are too high.
they are making 3d version of star wars now.i wonder will that be good?wait it wont just bunch of new effects. seeing it first time will always be best.
i also always thought that they put the effects in the movie because they could then. back in 77 they couldnt do much with computer graphics and shit like that. but in 97 they could so they made more things computer animated rather than puppets. i for one prefer the originals over the newer ones but the newer ones r still kick ass......if ur a star wars nerd :)
thats not jar jar binks. its a fuckin gungan. isnt it possible that a gungan has a close enough voice to jar jar that it sounds like him? idk. maybe im wrong. i dont wanna tell u how 2 do it. im just sayin that when i saw that part i didnt think it was jar jar at all. in fact im pretty sure jar jar died somehow a little after the third one.
i find your disinterest in the prequels…..disturbing

Remakes of them
Just leave the originals alone or better yet, release dvds with the CHOICE of picking either the "Special Edition" or the "Original"
How hard is that?

What you fail to mention is how episode II brought in politics and government into part of what star wars enveloped, along with some mystery. Episode 1 was like anakins trial by fire and it is basically an introductory episode. And if you watch what palpatine does throughout the prequels its hard not to think of the snake in the garden of eden. But episode III was the best, it showed how the emperor is like satan and anakin is the antichrist.

I grew up watching the prequels so I'm not angry about the changes as much as the hardcore star wars fans
ryanrox17 1 week ago
@ryanrox17 I'll admit, I don't think all the changes they made with the rereleases were that bad. Like the Sarlacc's beak, I thought that one was pretty interesting. But let's face it, changing a scene so that a character who originally never got a shot off not only shoots, but shoots FIRST just to please those in your audience who dislike gray morality enough to complain about it, and by extension subtly insult the intellect of the rest of your audience, is kind of a dick-move.

nunouno001 1 week ago
I think people put too much thought in the movies, yes they startled the franchise. But now there is so much more history and life to star wars that the movies only take up a small fraction of star wars history. The books, comics, and videogames give a huge expansion to the star wars franchise, some of it even better than the original movies and I think that fans should expand their minds to remember that.
Aside from jar jar and darth vader saying NO again. Star wars will always a place with

SuperDarthVader1 3 weeks ago
I grew up with the prequels seeing them in chronological order. I had never seen the originals so I didn't know what to expect, so I didn't think the phantom menace was that bad when I first saw it. I see its flaw today of course but attack of the clones is worse in my opinion. At least phantom menace had a mix of puppetry and cgi; clones was ALL cgi. both are flawed but phantom menace wins because it blended the new and the old. the cgi in clones was good but not good enough to really amaze

what james said it had a crappy love story, while others citied christensen's acting(it had best performaces in catina in coruscant, some of anakin's vaderisms, etc.), jedi acting dumb, and still jar jar. but in my opinion, it's a worth watching this movie.

ON THE TOPIC OF EPISODE 1 it's not a bad film at all, i enjoyed it more than Avatar. it was the first one i watched and i thought it set up the story well and Qui-gon was not pointless. i then watched the original trilogy then ep. 2 and 3. i found all the movies were egually as good. i think what has happened here is back in the 80s there had neva been movies like star wars before so they though it was so epic. then they had way to high expectations for SW 1. just my opinion though. they all roc
robbedthief 3 weeks ago
@robbedthief it was really bad
gassi15 3 weeks ago
@robbedthief you're right about the high expectations part but you should watch Redlettermedia's review for episode I if you haven't already, he explains why episode 1 was a bad film
elcap22 2 weeks ago
@robbedthief Obviously just your opinion. I was a 90s kid and was 8 years old when the Phantom Menace came out so I had no high expectations other than for it to be a good film but I can't stand the prequels anymore. "High expectations" is really just an excuse to defend the prequels without really putting any effort into it.

I did not even know there was differences in the movies! sure i now understand that some effects were too good to be from 1975, but before i knew that they made differences U just did not think of it.
The order i saw it was: 3, 4, 5, 6, 2,1.
froggerfromspace 3 weeks ago
I Find this extremely annoying, at my age i cant find one original non edited Star Wars movie, i hated the dance scene in Jaba's palace and it made all of my friends mock a brilliant movie.
My favorite is Empire strikes back, and if i was to pick a prequel it would be Episode III.
FGAMINGFTW 3 weeks ago
The final cut on the Blu Ray where Han kills Greedo is much more tight. Greedo still shoots first, but it looks like he genuinly missed. Also, one of the special features disc contains a rough early cantina scene version, and there, Han is the only one who shoots.

Revenge of The Sith is way better than Return of The Jedi
StupidWizardFilms 4 weeks ago
@StupidWizardFilms
I agree with you. probably because of ewoks, but return of the jedi is a good movie too. in revenge sith, fans hated some nitpicks like love story, some of wooden acting, jedi acting dumb, overuse of CGI. but revenge of the sith is a worth watching this film

i also always thought that they put the effects in the movie because they could then. back in 77 they couldnt do much with computer graphics and shit like that. but in 97 they could so they made more things computer animated rather than puppets. i for one prefer the originals over the newer ones but the newer ones r still kick ass......if ur a star wars nerd :)
