  • red light, comes out quite bright, I noticed this in shooting two films, and see it here too. Red light seems to look normal around half to one stop under, less flat and blocked up.

  • It would be good to know the filter factors on the gels. If you look at normal blue and normal red, you can see a clear difference in exposure difference. I've never been a fan of red key lights unless they're blinking. Who's color are you using for the backgrounds?

The storaro yellow and purple are nice colors to work with. I have used the green and yellow together with Fuji's Vivid 160. It was like flying on clouds.

  • @kubrickzghost The only non-Storaro gel used was the Magenta in the background of the Green keylight test.

  • Thank you very much for this. I have never run extensive tests with my DPs beyond the basics and I have always wondered what the Storaro gel filters look like. I'm very interested in testing them myself now.

  • If you have skilful operator on a Davinci 2k you could probably pull 2.5-3 stops over into a good looking exposure with Vision 2 200t. Always good to test the limits of your exposure before a shoot :)

  • normal is wherever you're exposing for. So normal could be the hotside of her face.

  • Normal is not the exposure on her face, it's the exposure of the grey card. The timed print was according to the grey card, then upon viewing Katie's face, we adjusted the shots that followed to match.

  • aww she's so patient! hehe i was hoping to see the veggies do a little stop-motion dance at the end.

  • Vittorio Storaro is a Genius.

  • A real Cinematographer with modest budget, always do test such as this one. Excellente job!

  • Thanks for this video excellent.

  • Thanks for the comment :)

It was shot with a Bolex H16 with a somewhat good quality 25mm Switar prime. The color temperature correction portion was shot with a 16mm Switar prime. Rated at 500 ASA and telecine'd at Monaco.

  • Hey thanx for takin the time to post something like this. I shot 16mm once, and may do it again. expensive :( I really like the color correction part. (always wondered what that would do to the colors) so this might help me if i shoot again. may i ask you, what camera was used?
