Alto Saxophone..Angela TAXI THEME. 1950s 60s Berg Larsen mouthpiece

My Dad just dropped three saxes on me for sale. One is a Selmer knockoff with a vintage Berg Larsen mouthpiece.

Magnificent! Congratulations. I am interested in buying a Berg Larsen of 80, because I want a similar sound. The problem is that my sax is not of the best quality (Chinesly). Do you believe that it will sound equally well with this mouthpiece?

@EMAANGLADETTE Thanks...My Saxophone is a "Cheap" Chinese?....Elkhart series 2...£290 max uk...mine was second hand £98 & I still use a similar sax .& will..I still think id you hear the sound you want...your more likely to get it?...The Larsen is my best mouthpiece....but i reckon I could get a great sound out of an ebonite..Selmer or Yam..Vandoren..etc..Regards..+ a good mouthpiece might correct some bad intonation problems that are not your saxophone problems..anyway..just a though & opinion

Is this a Berg Larsen you're playing on? If so, then should I get it for jazz band in high school?

@MLDocuments Hi...Yes its the Berg Larsen...mine dates from the 50s I believe...anyway...probably my favourite possesion!!...Rico 2.5 or 3 shaved down...Vandorens also good...& a cheap Blessing elkhart sax...no High f sharp...

I was sold my first Tenor (1938 Martin Handcraft) by Mr Len Furminger, who played with Berg Larsen in (amongst other bands) the ABC Cinemas Band on the BBC - when they were on the occasional 'no gig' register in London, they used to cut reeds for Bill Lewington. Lovely to see Lewingtons' are still selling his mouthpieces - and to hear how lovely they can sound in this video "..left the sound of his soul in the air , I can hear it up there, and I know....":)

Hi..My old Berg Larsen..metal..65 ..O..SMS..very early one..sold the sax on ebay a while back..student blessing elkhart..no high fsharp...great sax really..shows you dont need to spend thousands!..?..

@semplang05 ...It is "O" stamped......But does that not apply to the chamber shape?...I now use a blessing elkhart series 2 student model again..no High Fsharp...cheap sax on ebay..£150 tops!!!...they work for me..with great intonation..Regards

It has the brilliance and the edge. Please guide me. I want to use a berg larsen mouthpiece 80-0 SMS. I play rock and solo. I need a VERY BRILLIANT AND EDGY TONE for my alto. Please help sir.
