Okay i love this laptop i see so many bad comments. This laptop ha been the best for me. The only problem i had is my faulty charger fried my motherboad in the powerjack area and thats it. The overheat problem is easily avoided with opening the laptop and cleaning the fan and the battery has a smart sensor that goes faulty so a new one should be bought or you wont see the " plugged in not charging"

I've had this laptop for almost 2 years and I have to say it sucks badly, worst laptop ever. About a month afterbuying it the hard dive died and now it won't boot up most of the time. Thinking it's an over heating problem but not sure. I removed the cover on the bottem and used caned air and cleaned it all out, I even removed the fan and cpu heatsink and replaced the thermal compound but with no luck getting it to boot all the way. IMO this was the worst choice for a laptop I've ever bought.

i have had this same laptop for almost a year and it has had a ton of problems. let me know if you have the same. the battery whent bad so gateway sent me a new one now that one is bad they both cause errors and make the light go red on the front. my bearing in my cooling fan is bad and needs to be replaced. my power button is shot but still kind of works and the keyboard just flat out sucks form stock you have to push dead center to get it to work

@kc9hyr2 So thats why the battery light goes red every so often, was wondering what was going on, I had to always remove the battery to get it to change back. bought a toshiba laptop about a year before I bought the gateway and it runs with no problems. Guess I should have bought another toshiba fo my second laptop to game on. Well live and learn, I won't be buying another gateway laptop anytime soon.

I got mine 6 months ago from a pawn shop for $399.99. And I LOVE it! The only problem I have with it is its shiny casing gets finger prints very easily. Also, the idiot who had it before me shrunk the partition size which is now only 111Gb and put Ubuntu on the other part- with a password. :/

@kc9hyr2 I'm running on Windows 7, originally Vista. I deleted the Ubuntu partition because I couldn't log on to it. The problem with Windows 7 is that I can't expand the partition size to 250 gb or 320 gb (whatever the size is-can't remember). So I just made another partition, but it just bugs me because its more difficult to find things on my hard drive. If you could tell me how to merge them, i would be so grateful, but if not, that's alright. :)

ive had this laptop for over a year( im on it right now). i have had no problems out of it nothing wrong with the keyboard or any of that other shit im reading, just got to clean it every couple months to keep it from overheating and shuting down, just cleaned it today actually.

good video. have some of you guys saw the wow cheats pack from warcraftbotsXinfo (replace X with .) ? it's incredible, i just downloaded the pack. it's got absolutely every thing inside it, gold guides, bots, hacks, glitches and even the newest arena glitch. i perhaps should not reveal to people about this however at least this gives you all a fair opportunity to dl it before i pwn all of you

Hey how did you go about installing Win7 on this laptop. Mine still has vista and im weary of clean installing 7 cause if it doesnt work im screwed! So where did you get all the 7 drivers? Is it as simple as installing 7 popping in the drivers and everything works? Please respond to this. I also sent you a message.

@greg8west updating to windows 7 was so easy just pop the disk in and wait a few hours and you have windows 7 all your files are saved too!!

im typing on this laptop she is my baby i dont know why i see negative comments on youtube and website that review them about keybaord key breakiin off and power button mine is perfectly fine the keys are still on the power button works fine the battery runs fast only problem is its overheating and it rndomly shuts down but i fixed it cracked it open and cleaned all the dust off the cooling fans etc :) great laptop <3 it

@houshidar558 I have the same laptop too and mine randomly shuts down and gets bsod sometimes, does that happen to you? but i think its just from overheating, you should probably have it on a cooling pad anyways

the power button is worn out

the smart charge circuits on the battery don't work

the keyboard sucks.

the power cord stopped working and wasn't covered by warranty

and its only 6 months old!

i give this laptop a 3 out of 5 or a 6 put of ten buttons r cheap falls of easily my period and esc button came off the 1st 2 weeks without dropping the laptop and the peice that goes into the power adapter came off... and fell behind the motherboard. if u can find something better go for it...

hey jus 2 let u kno, i dwnloaded gta4 and i ran it on this.......and its ok. it gets a decent framerate, abt 20 to 25 fps, bt the setting are set to low tho..... :( and i had to change sum of tha settings in CCC.

it can, but it doesnt run very well to be honest. even with all the graphics settings at minimum it runs with low fps and lags

ugmm.. let me correct my english lol, YOu have to pay out of your pocket to ship it to them in Temple TX for repairs! when it's their fault this system has so many problems, I can tell you that after your computer goes for repairs it will always have problems, I will not recommend anyone to buy from them because they dont care about the customer, and their customer support is in india or some shit, and no one seems to care about replacing your computer. I just got a MAC and am pleased!

Finding a customer support number for them is useless, so i had to rummage through my phone bills and call every 866 numbers so for those of you that need it 866 539 3901 now whats fucked up, if that gateway refuse to replace this computer i dont mind a computer of same value or lesser value just as long as they replace it, they could not do that and i will have 5 months left for the warranty to be up. Oh and did i meantion you have to pay to shit it for repairs???

WORST COMPUTER TO GET FROM GATEWAY. i bought this in Feb 2009 and it is now Sept. and I have sent it for repairs 3 times, first problem, Internal error, then the hard drive crashed, 2nd time a problem with the charging, so they replaced the mother board, after that the hard drive reported errors, AGAIN!!! no i sent it today for the 4th time, the screen flickers! and the hard drive is shot again!!

So I just bought this for 420 at tigerdirect refurbished. Draft N, webcam, decent cpu, AND radeon 3200, I can't complain for that price. I heard people can play source based games on the 3200. Can anyone confirm this?

I said that i am a student can you offer me any further discount....and surprisingly he gave me $50 instant discount. So i got it for $399. Amazing deal.....laptop looks so great...i just started loving the illuminated volume controls...3gb RAM, 250gb hdd....and a webcam...!!! it comes with 60 days norton trial package and officesuite trial package.

i got this laptop a few months ago, and i installed Windows Vista Business on it (as it comes with Home Premium), and now its even faster than it was when I bought it. I just love it. Also, it has this great Ati Radeon HD 3200 Graphics Card, which can run any game you want.

No it doesn't have light up keys but it has lights on the media buttons on the side. Some of the more expensive ones do though.

I own this laptop. upgraded the ram to 4GB at 800MHz. it made a big difference. I own Red alert 3 and Unreal Tournament 3. i can play both, but UT3 on low is playable but looks horrible. RA3 on medium is playable and well looks like the original RA games from the 90's lol. not ment for playin games. with upgraded RAM my vista gaming score is a 3.8 and Aero score is 3.9

I'm not sure what the best laptop is to play wow on. All I know is that mine can run it. Do some research and look at the specs on different laptops and see which one is in your budget and that has pretty decent specs.

I can not tell, but how is the sound? I need to know because the sound on the laptop I just bought sucks, its a Dell t6400 (Studio) and also the buttons for sound and media player you can not see in low light so you can never find the sound anyways.

The sound is ok but I usually use headphones are external speakers because they are pretty low in volume.  The buttons are bright enough to see them.

I had this laptop for about 3 weeks now.. It's not a gaming machine but it will run most game really well. I bought mine just for playing WoW and I haven't been disapointed with it. I bought mine from bestbuy for $597 with tax. I run WoW with med to high graphics settings and get around 20-29 fps. I havent tried any other games but IMO this would handle most 3D games. Oh and I play WoW on Malfurion server..

UYpdate.. I had to take my laptop back to bestbuy.. it died on my today. Might be a bad MB or HD, they don't know. Also the tech said they might not be able to fix it so I might have to get a differnt one. Bought it on Feb 23/ 09. and died on March 31/09. Tech said mine wasn't the first one he seen with my problems. It's a really nice laptop but not so dependable. You make the call!!

It's a nice laptop. Especially for the price. The only down side is the that speakers pretty friggin wimpy. Doesn't matter much though, if you use headphone or external speakers. I'm kinda spoiled because my 3.5 year old Compaq had freakin sweet speakers!
