Wow, that car has some balls! I hope my 83 300SD can get to that point at some time. It doesn't seem far off as it is now. I pick it up and trailer it home tomorrow morning. She needs lots of cosmetic work but she runs well.
wow that is a quick sd...I tweaked the alda and ip. well my mechanic did on my 85 300d. It was very very peppy! I sure do miss it. Sold it to dieseldon in Michigan 10 yrs ago and he still has it!
I´ve always wandered why this car was only available in the US, since diesel cars are so uncommon there, even more at that time. Anybody knows? In Europe this car is a rarety.
The best or nothing. I need help with a newly purchased 1982 300SD. I changed the fuel filters. What is the process or priming and purging the fuel system after installing the 2?
I have a 1982 300sd that does the same 0-60 time with 238,609 miles and all stock is there something I'm missing here on my car if someone knows email me at larryhaustein@gmail

This is a great video. I have the same car (although '79), your video has turned me on to a wealth of information - I had never even heard of this ALDA device before, my mechanic has never mentioned it!
Incorrect. The overboost protection circuit cuts in at 16psi. We increased the boost in 1psi increments and the car went faster everytime until boost pressure reached 15psi. 13 seconds is slow for a stock 617??? Interesting when there is a video of a 617 with 6mm elemnets and a Holset turbo that makes 145 RWHP and does 0 to 60 in 11 seconds. You are welcome to post a video in response....
I am proud to say that this car is the recipient of both the Mercedes 250,000 km and 500,000 km high mileage awards. Mercedes ist ein fabelhaftes Automobil!
isnt this bad for the engine or other parts of the vehicle? will it affect the mpg? are you still in fresno?

You can do the adjustments on ANY engine, although an engine in sound mechanical condition is important...

Great video, but is it mandatory to rebuild the engine completely to adjust the engine? Are slight adjustments also possible on an older engine?

Fill the filters with fuel and no bleeding is required....

Are there any down sides of adjusting the ALDA?

@The10851Man I've always wanted a 116 300sd, its just such a timeless car. Props for tuning a diesel, someone's gotta do it! haha.

You grabbed second gear! That's pretty awesome in any car, let alone a 30 year old diesel.

Interesting...check out the 1991 350SDL 0 to 60 Video posted by Willber14...that's about 14 seconds....

15psi is too much. Anything more than 12psi is only reducing power.
Also, 13 seconds is slow for a stock 617.
