@fazalahmadi No. Our Independence is declared on the night of 14th Aug 1947, at 11PM. This is a partial Freedom. The British signed-off everything in INDIA on 15th AUG 1947. This is the full Independence. So, we celebrated our 1st Independence Day on 15th Aug 1947.

fazalahmadi good one..thanks for uploading, we completed 61 years of indipendent so it should be 62nd day of indipendence coz 15th aug 1947 was 1st day of indipendence..

Brother if you count the age of Indipendent India then it will be (1947-2008) 61yrs. But if you count that since when we are celebrating our Independence Day Celebration and what is the number of this year (2008) celebration then it will be 62nd celebration because first time we celebrated Independence Day on 16th Aug 1947, that mean you have to count 1947 as 1st celebration.

Its normally said 61 years since we say the number of years dat r completed and not the year which is runny..

Dear brother it is 62nd Indipendence Day Celebration. We got independence on 15th Aug 1947 and on 16th Aug 1947 Jawahlal Nehru ji first time hoist the Indian flag on Lal Qila (Delhi).
