deos this have a direct out so i can throw the tracks all separated into pro tools to do the mixing as per say just use this too capture the sound and put it back into a real mixer program.I have the yamaha md8 it does but I get those damn disk errors im sick of.I need something to get the sound then go home and dump it on a program track to track line ins rca.
Word of warning: the MIDI sync of this unit is really poor. I connected several drum machines and keyboard workstations and they all drifted as slaves to the D3200. Trying to lay down separate drum tracks for each sound was impossible, as nothing lined up properly. And it was random errors, nothing repeated. If you record without MIDI, this is a fine machine. Maybe the unit I had was a lemon, but it was brand-new out of the box.
@PetoKsong Yeah, you're probably right, but I still think this machine records pretty damn well. Check out my video response. My dad and I record sessions every weekend with 8 tracks at once and I think it sounds fairly accurate to our actual performance.
@stripes5150 Garbage? Obviously another Roland cheerleader. This unit is top notch and for the record, I owned a 2480 and the pre amps were nosiy as hell, and the effects crap!. Lol.
How you doing with the korg. I have a question. When I apply effects to a chanel they seem to apply to all chanels instead of the one. Have you done any tutorials on using effects and Mastering using the D3200?
Standalone machines are best. No noticable latency, no Interrupt overhead. I'm on firewire w/ a Dual Intel Mac & Cubase 4, and it still can have latency & dropouts. The D3200 is solid, & I really like MOST of it. Now to figure out:
1) How to use the %*&%& built-in drums
2) How to monitor the output of an existing record-enabled track b4 it's recording (i.e.punch-ins) The only way I've come up with to hear it where I'm at while punching in is to copy the track and play it too.
I hate the built in drums, They are ok for mesing with but to compose a full song with any versatility and they will give you gray hair. Get a Boss DR 880 , they sound fantastic and are very easy to program for drums. As far as the punch in monitor, you got it! you have to copy it to another track, if your out of tracks, copy it to a virtual track somewhere and listen to it while you do your punch in.
dude, for monitoring a track before you punch in, you need to set the cue level on that track. I can't remember off hand what menu you need to go into, but look around and adjust the cue level. This will allow you hear the track you have primed for recording while playing back
Does anybody know how to change the Hard Drive on a D3200? It is possible? I think the hard drive is about to go. It crashed in the middle of my recording and had to re-format the whole hard drive.
Ive been trying to connect this to my pc and it just isn't working! It is only my computer that does not recognize it as i have tried it on other pc's which did recognize it. Does anyone know what i have to download for my computer to recognize the device?
I have to agree with SeanHart213 It's much less hassle to use the stand alone systems. I own a D3200 (my 5th MTR) and with good Mics and monitors for mixing you can produce CD' that will rival (in sound quality) all but the most high end commercial studios. Also if you need something mobile to record your bands live gigs this is the Only way to go. Hope this helps you with our decision.
2. even though software often provides higher definition recordings, they can also just as easily make an AWFUL recording. with all in one machines, its very simple to get a great sound
3. pc's crash and there's alot of system requirements and checkups that are a real pain in the ass. all in one machines are like computers specifically made for recording.
Thanks for the replies. I have been torn between software and good old knobs and buttons. The comment on the updates, system requirements, etc ads some thought. Also... you still need hardware as I have not yet found a PC or laptop with any XLR connectors.
in order to connect XLR and 1/4th" instrument cables into a computer with proper impedance, you need an "interface". almost all interfaces include recording software on purchase.
most interfaces get alot of white noise due to the fact that their mic preamps are poorly made. good interfaces can cost at least $500 just to get a clean input sound without having to buy an external mic preamp, which only adds up on the amount of money being spent.

the tiny screen problem is fixed, trumping the roland at a mere $250 bucks.
or search Korg d3200 virtual tracking and you will see the big screen. :)

I had the same problem. Make sure you are using a USB 2 cable as 1.1 cables won't work. Cheers.

the korg d3200 also features "session drummer" drum machine with expansive velocity and humanizing options
EQ and Compression for EACH INDIVIDUAL TRACK
4 effects units rather than the traditional 1 master effect unit found in many multitrack recorder
high quality mic pre's on each input
REMS modeling effects for guitar, vocals, and bass
MIDI functionality
USB 2.0 connectivity

i prefer all in one machines because
1. PC's cause a mess of wires
2. even though software often provides higher definition recordings, they can also just as easily make an AWFUL recording. with all in one machines, its very simple to get a great sound
3. pc's crash and there's alot of system requirements and checkups that are a real pain in the ass. all in one machines are like computers specifically made for recording.
4. the all in one machines are just more fun!
