  • People keep saying you have breath control issues, and I mean you might, but I think it's more likely that you do what I do, because there are moments when it is clear there are no issues. When I act a song, I often make things breathier or cut off words to make it sound like speech, which is appropriate during the beginning but near the climax it just needs to be more legato.

  • this was great, but your support needs a lot of work. You're also trying to do a more "talking" way of singing and it's not working out that well. Try to work on that and use it only in the song when you feel like you're really telling a story, not through the whole song.

  • I don't know how this girl is, but I know a FUCK TON of Broadway people...this girl is among the best! Honey...you ROCK this song!

  • Wonderful. One thing I noticed though, you need to support more. I applaud you for your acting on this piece. Too many performers would just sing this..and that would be it. In all honesty, I would prefer to see someone that can act this song that isn't the best singer than a singer who doesn't think about what they do. If, in the actor's mind, they think about and see what the song is about as opposed to, oh..am I singing it right, then guarenteed it will turn out better

  • I love this song. its so gorgeous!

  • This gave me chills! It was so good!

  • Great job! I recently was in this show at my high school, and it was one of the best experiences of my life!

  • THAT, my friend, is acting! Yes, the voice could use some work on projection but...man...that acting was spot on =D

  • Oh my gosh, this is sooo good! I like how you have some of it spoken, it adds more depth to the character. You have a lot of talent, keep it up!!

  • whats the story behind this song?

  • I believe its about a pregnant woman, whose singing about how alone and powerless she is, but she's still hopeful and going to have the baby.

  • you have a wonderful voice!

  • where is this? it sounds like the girls has an accent.... =] but very well done btw AMAZING

  • how big is the cast for this show?

  • Its four people. Two guys and two girls.

  • I love the acting so much. You have inspired me. I understand the idea of using your pronuncitation of words to make your character more believable, but it does impede your performance. Open vowels and a long line are you key. Senor JRB uses the female voice for beauty. So should you. Props a million times over. :)

  • this is absolutely beautiful. you've got quite a talent.

  • Can i just remind everyone that this is a high school performance, and this chick would get a gurnsey in any show, high school or not. Her performanceis beautiful, and i encourage the dissses out there, to post and send links for your stuff. Being from musical theatre myself, our last right is interpretation and with a show like this, the actress' subtleties are commendable, and i enjoyed it. Come to the middle east and you'd sell out show's with a voice like that,we lack quality theatre in Dubai

  • Beautiful performance. I loved it. You guys are all amazing despite Glitternbegay's comments. I think he had a stick up his bum when he was replying to all these videos. You're amazing.

  • For those of you being rude, first of all... just about any song can have the choice to speak-sing. It's called acting, ever hear of it? And not everyone has to be Ethel Merman. This young lady has a pretty voice and yes, she could benefit from some work in support and stamina, but there are nicer ways to say it than "This is crap" because it's not.

  • great voice but u need to project more

  • Can I find a instrumental version of this anywhere??

  • You're a very talented performer, this is a difficult song to sing, particularly where it goes from your chest voice to your head, but you cope with it really well. The emotion you put into it is very heartfelt and I was feeling it throughout your performance. Ignore some of the other comments, they havent got a clue!

  • Great voice, and this could be an absolutely amazing song for you. A few things to watch - your upper and lower voices are so, SO different that it almost sounds a bit... weird. There was very little crescendo. If that's because you lack power, it doesn't matter. In singing, it can be about emotion and tone, as well as volume.

I'd like to see you do this again. It's good, but there's room for improvement.

  • Sweetie you have some AMAZING potential and a lovely voice. Forget that other poster. She has vids of herself singing on her profile and she sucks. Trust me! You have a gorgeous instrument and an excellent knack for performing. I hope you continue to pursue your artistic endeavors because you really are quite impressive. Good luck!

  • Melissa is amazing, I think she really rocks, and this is my favourite song, along with I'm Not Afraid and I think she's brilliant at both

  • This performance is simply amazing and what a great interpretation, I don't think that some of these comments know what they are talking about. You have a gorgeous voice and aside from a few support issues and bright vowels in the higher range I think that you have something and you shouldn't let other people tell you any differently. You had me caught in the song from the beginning and when it hit the end I could almost feel what you were feeling; great performance!!!

  • I have to disagree with previous postings... I think you did a beautiful job with the song. Loved seeing a different interpretation - more contemplative and almost as if through the words you are singing, you're reaching out in hope for something you're not quite sure you feel. As for your voice... girl, its so beautiful. Can't wait to see you grow as a singer and performer. I've got confidence in you - all the best!

  • here here!

  • i'm going to agree with you...she did a very good job with this song. sfnw is a compliation musical that in which every song is up for interpretation. its up to the actor to play the role, and i love seeing different portrayals than the original

  • I absolutely love this song, but I'm not crazy about this performance of it. The girl seems to be a lot better singing in a lower range.

  • Gorgeous.
