@timw1959 He was charged with two counts of 53a-56 MANSLAUGHTER 2ND DEG and one count 14-222 RECKLESS DRIVING and is out on a $250,000 bond. He was not given any special treatment by the law enforcement agency that did the investigation.

The bottom line is, the guy was drunk(0.13 BAC) and turned right in front of the cop. Even if the cop was doing 40, it would still have been a close call. Anybody behind the wheel should be able to judge a cars aprox speed and realize he did'nt have time to make the turn. Cops are human, and humans make mistakes. But, when that mistake takes the life of two people; Then the cop should be held accountable for his or her actions, and not be treated different because he works for the city. The dashcam cop was going over 70 mph. Officer Jason Anderson was going 94 mph. Anderson's police car was a football field length away from the Teens car within 2 seconds of impact. Anderson was in the WRONG! My heart goes out to the families of the Teens killed.

I just try to say to myself that I need to wake up earlier or not to even worry about irate drivers. Cops are human, and humans make mistakes. But, when that mistake takes the life of two people; Then the cop should be held accountable for his or her actions, and not be treated different because he works for the city. Any civilian who did the same thing would have been put in prison for a lifetime... or 2. 250,000 dollars is a lot of money, but nothing compared to what the family's had to go through.

Since the cop was probably doubling the speed limit without any lights or sirens, it most likely appeared to the driver he had more than enough time to make a left turn (which happens to be 100% legal.)

Yeah, the officer was probably speeding (considering I don't know the speed of the cruiser cam or the speed limit of that road, it appears he's clearing a lot of ground for a commercial/urban arterial that's probably signed no faster than 50mph, if not 35-45).
But geez, wait for the green arrow (if there is one) or wait for oncoming traffic to clear.

In most cases, I will give a cop some credit, but not in this case. Assuming he was indeed traveling 94 MPH, that is excessively fast for those roads, even in an emergency, and this is why.
The camera is sped up, but he was still traveling at a high rate of speed.

And if you bothered to read the very detailed discription, you'd also see that witnesses said they appeared to be drag-racing. And if you bother to read further on, it also states that this cop was, after investigations, charged with two counts of 2nd degree manslaughter. doesnt happen if he was on a call.

" His act was actually felonious because reckless driving is a felony. They took it easy on his ass. But a civilian they would made sure he got the full extent of the law.

Yeah I saw the falling star... it very well could have been a bat or bird or even debris....The officer was at fault....when you are in response to an emergency call, you're suppose to turn on your lights. This warns other drivers on the road that you have the right of way over ALL other traffic.

I have to agree with cshubs on this. He should not of made that left hand turn. Seem's he was being just as aggressive as the officer on the road racing to the scene of the disturbance. But still he should of not been doing 90 + mph in a 40 mph zone. Reckless Driving in deed on both part's. Not that it matter's to the people already dead. okay, just a quick question, and maybe i am way off base here. but if they were RETURNING from a call, and not responding to one, as the description indicates, then why was the officer going so fast? shouldn't he have been doing the speed limit? which would have allowed the Mazda to clear the intersection without interference. and on a city street. the time of night (2:13 am) should not have mattered. why were those who enforce the law not obeying it?
