To bad Mccain still has failed to recognize that we have not even declared war on any of the countries that we bomb and destroy every day. Nope America has not declared war on a country since WW2
Blah, blah, blah... At the end of the day, Obama won the election, so all ya'all can just shove it. The reduction in violence in Iraq is not because of the surge, but rather in spite of it. An overwhelming majority of people in Iraq want the U.S. troops out, and that is what Barack Obama understood when he opposed the surge.
Funny that iraq was wrong overall, thx republicans. Also thanks all you "educated" "free thinking" american individuals for supporting that decision and reelecting a sham of executive leadership, and for what? You thought it'd be bad to switch presidents a during war? Haha what the !@#$ do you call the democratic truman administration? I love watching my country destroy its self from the inside out by ignorant dumb@#! that call themselves adults :P
The surge of troops was like giving a crack addict one more hit - sure it makes them feel better temporarily but it does not cure the addiction and dependence. Obama is right - the Iraqis need to sort out their own country. Let them get on with it and let America sort its own domestic issues out.
Wow...he made "A" mistake...even though this video trys to imply that he made about 100,000 mistakes. No matter how many times they say "mistake" it still refers to only one incident. VOTE OBAMA...McCain is as old as dust and so are his ideas.
"I believe, we're going to see a great debate, which the American public deserves, more importantly. None of this negative stuff, though. You won't see it come out of our side at all, because my husband is absolutely opposed to any negative campaigning at all.
I believe I can speak for my husband on the same thing, we'd rather not win than to have to do that. That's not worth winning for."
Well, those great debates will never happen cause B Husn KNOWS he will get his ass handed to him and lose the Rock Star edge! He'll be sitin on stage with 4 brokn strings and not a fkn thing to grasp! He has ran from all of the debates McCain has offered!
Now tell me, you really want a president that's been in bed with all of the radicals we've all found out about? What about the real B Hussein Obama? What else can we possibly tolerate as a candidate? and how can you turn a blind eye to this?
Obama participated in 20 Democratic Party debates. You have no evidence he is "afraid" to debate John McSame. The debates will happen in due time, and Obama will outshine McSame and his tired old politics. Just wait, you'll see!
There are at least three debates planned between Obama and McCain, starting next month (September).
But I somehow get the feeling that you don't care. I don't think there's anything EITHER candidate could do or say that would cause you to vote for Obama.
No matter how many times McCain changes positions or flat out lies (which has happened several times in the past month alone). Or even if Obama wins every round of debates.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
McCain will have Obama for lunch in all 3 debates. Obama's position has changed several times, McCain's has changed a few times, but we're talking about his position years ago compared to today and obviously the way of the world and needs has changed and of course people's positions have changed accordingly.
One thing you are overlooking, Obama's rating is dropping in the polls, why do you think that is? People are FINALLY getting a clue and seeing who the real Obama is!
Keep believing "everything" you hear on your left wing proaganda spewnews... It's not more of the same moron, Bush/McCain differ on a lot of issues, always have, but of course you'll neever hear that from any of the outlets you get your "news" from as they have a certain agenda... Wake up!
Prior to the Iraq invasion, Bush had the best approval rating in history. The bad intel received caused the whole issue with W, nothing else. What else has Bush done?
A few things that McCain has changed positions or lied about within the last month:
timetable for Iraq, whether he'd consider raising taxes, affirmative action, whether he'd run a negative campaign, whether the surge caused the Anbar Awakening, shifting troops from Iraq to Afghanistan, equal pay for women, his support for MLK Day.
That's 8. In just a MONTH. And none of them are personal attacks; I'm actually talking about issues. So what has Obama flipped on lately?
Sounds like all of the things that yer boy NObama has flipped on... Oh yeh and let's not forget Nobama's energy savings plan, ya know, inflate your tires and get a tune up, LOL, you can save a bundle on fuel costs if you do so!
He's becoming the Obama laugh machine of late. And now he wants to drill in ANWAR and the coasts, only after the polls show him slipping. The guy used to be an eloquent speaker, but it seems someone or something has him rattled! I love to see snakes slither in the cold
You know inflating your tires is actually something that republicans support too (mccain has recommended it). Don't play that game pretending like that is all obama plans to do for energy, in fact, he recommends that to help yourself NOW, before NOVEMBER. Mccain is just saying "hey, fuck you all right now, you wanna save gas, vote for me"
of course mccain thinks proper tire pressure is a joke, he has his servants do that for him. He knows NOTHING about penny pinching lifestyles.
You can't keep an intelligent conversation with the dude without insulting. Good job! you're having a political debate on YouTube, which nobody gives a damn about.
OMG shut the hell up! Your moronic statements ntheresyrsign are laughable! Have you even taken the time to understand what you are blabbing about? Have you ever questioned your chosen candidate's positions at all or do you just go with w/e the hell he says?? You are not very bright are you now?
On the offshore drilling issue Obama said he would support it if thats what it took to get legislation passed concerning energy. He is not going to let partisan loyalty get in the way of important legislation. Btw that drilling isn't going to do much, and if you think it will provide evidence.
daboyz, one of Obama's great "flip's" only after he dropped several points in the polls afer McCain said drill now. he said wha the US pop wanted to hear, whatever works, he'll sign.
Provide evidence? Are you serious? Sending 700 BILLION DOLLARS a year for oil overseas isn't enough? Now let's think about what we can do with 700 Billion in this economy?
With the exception of the Iraq invasion, the "turd" as you say, hasn't done as much as you may think to affect this country's current condition. Have you forgotten about a small event that happened a few years back, I beleive the date was Sept 11th if not mistaken? Do you recall the IMMEDIATE affect it had on this country? The economy, jobs, etc? How can you sit there and support this guy with the ties he's had all of his life? If Obama is elected, it will certainly be the end of the US, period!
So you'd rather have $8 gas, higher taxes, national health care and/or more health care/welfare/benefits for illegal's, radical extremists tied to Obama and a lot more?
Are you serious? Surely there's nobody that truly wants this, right?
Contrary to what MSNBC and the other left wing media outlets say, McCain is not the same as Bush, they may both be republicans, but McCain is the most liberal repub I can think of.
Ntheresyersign do you not watch the news? On the tax issue Obama is actually cutting taxes for those who make 250k or less which is most of the american people. Everyone else is taxed more but they make up about 3-4% of the pop and they should pay more b/c they make more.
LOL, I DO watch the news, but I'm not stuck on left wing media propaganda. There is a very grey area in Obama's plan between 150k and 250k,and that sir falls into the 70% of the US pop. Go read it, you explain it to me, the experts can't, maybe you can?
It's not as clear as what Obama leads you to believe. AND, I believe he re-iterated this again last night as well.
we have spent way more on the Iraq war furthering the deficit, Mccain wants to stay there which will make it worse. Grey area? havn't heard anything about it, not even from Mccain or fox. 250k below get cuts. above is raised so Im not sure what the problem is here. Please tell me where I can get this information you allegedly have seen.
McCain doesn't "want" to stay there, nobody does. But we can't leave until the job is done, that should be pretty clear to you and anyone else.
As for the Tax issue and 150-250k, I've got it saved at work, I'll post it in the morning, early. It's a good read and you would be doing yourself a favor by giving it a hard look. I didn't catch it at first, but after reading a few blogs by the experts, it was clear that there was a grey area there.
I'm sorry I meant McCain does want to stay there, I believe he said 100 years. I voted for Obama after I saw that video where he said that. McCain is just a despicable politician, and I'm glad he lost.
How come the truth can't be truth? Two candidates will have two completely different thoughts, and will claim that theirs is right and the other is just stupidity. Is truth really that vague these days?
no, the truth, in and of itself, isnt vague. but therein lies the bigger issue, these two candidates (and all others for that matter)are currently running for the job as the front men, representing vastly complex financial interests, it behooves them to be otwardly different, while remaining essentialy the same. any real reform that bemefits the average joe will subsequently be out of reach . but the finacial giants will continue to be bailed out.i think thats the truth.
Yes, they are both running to represent vastly complex financial interests. But for John McCain, those interests are mostly big corporations. For Obama, those interests are mostly average Americans.
Any reform that benefits the average joe will come from Obama.
About Iraq, Saddam was the most American-friendly Arab, the most secular of the governments and people down there, and it was targeted just because Israel was "uncomfortable" with the three-pronged Iran-Iraq-Syria loud-mouths.
What a shame, US killed million+ souls, created unthinkable pain, suffering and destruction, just to give Israel "security"!
Not to mention that no Israeli-Americans went to the war!
It is not a limit to the rapacity and selfishness of these "chosen people"? I doubt it.
Why would anybody in it's right state of mind waste its time, camera and acumen, making a video of these cockroaches, is beyond my understanding.
Get a grip. These are ex-parrots.
About this "war":
There is no any "war" whatsoever going on; it is a "religious war", like in "idiots, retarded, obsolete-thinkers, primitive, retrograde neo-humans" playing to "I hate you-no, I hate you more".
They both, Arabs and Jews r exactly the same, both abuse women, both thieves, both kill-both r subhuman
not to say that i'm for armed revolution, but we do have that right. the second amendment was put in place to ensure that we could accomplish an armed revolt should the government become oppressive and unrepresentative of the people.
JOHN MCCAIN, LIAR: * He lied about Obama visiting the troops overseas. * He lied about not using the word "timetable" for withdrawing troops in Iraq. * He lied about his admission that he is weak on economic issues. *He lied when he said that he never asked for nor received a single earmark. * He lied about his opting into public financing when it was convenient for him to opt back out.
COPY AND PASTE THIS OBAMA SUPPORTERS Every time our economy begins to falter, a Repubican is President! Herbert Hoover - Great Depression Dwight Eisenhower - 1957 Recession Richard Nixon - 1971 Recession Gerald Ford - stagflation in 1973 Ronald Reagan - "Black Monday," Oct. 19, 1987 George H. W. Bush - 1991 Recession George W. Bush - right now! We deserve a change. Vote Barack Obama
Yes, we are reduced to choosing between the lesser of two evils, where both evils have similar agendas and are controlled by the same special interest groups.
It sucks, but do you have any alternative? Armed revolution maybe?
Paulginz, nothing so drastic as armed revolution when the vote is a powerful tool. It takes conviction, commitment and sacrifice to change an established system.
For example, take the Nader supporters who jumped ship after the Bush victory and presidency because of fear. Instead of sticking hard, continuing to draw from the Dem. and Ind. parties, weakening and threatening the established structure and pushing for the changes that drove Nader policy, they succumbed, setting back desired change.
what the fuck do you know about whats going on over there. the news reports bad shit only making you think its a mess. ive been over there ive seen combat i know what is going on there. its not as big of a mess as you think. if only he bad things in america were reported in europe or elsewhere people around the world would think our country is a mess
i know the numbers as they are truthfully and accurately reported, from independent media...they don't lie.
if you define success as "retracing our steps back towards the nosedive into the pile of shit that we got ourselves into", then sure, by all means, we are champs.
That's the way they deliberately spliced the video so you'll become annoyed and shut your mind off to any rational consideration of the arguments presented.
Its a kind of brainwashing you're being subjected to.
tea-there's no talking points, this is Veracifier's way of discrediting any valid arguments presented by those they disagree with (conservatives).
Tell me have you gained anything meaningful from this video? Of course not, since all you hear as you pointed out: surge, surge, surge.
Do you believe John McCain's side is getting a fair hearing when it becomes blurbed and repetitive? You're being mentally conditioned to reject his perspective-its a form of propaganda and brainwashing.
That's incorrect, I'm a centrist and weigh both sides. I agree with some liberal values (like universal health care) and some conservative views (like being on the offense on war).
Its obvious when both sides demonize and misrepresent the other's perspective. I see much more of these kinds of attacks coming from liberals these days.
On balance Obama is inexperienced and has failed his biggest test as commander-in-chief, which was to oppose the successful surge then to stubbornly deny it worked
You want us to be on the offense than you should man the fuck up and enlist.
I went to Iraq and it turned my world view up side down, whats your excuse ?
Biggest test as commander and chief ? He's not even President yet, he was a Senator when he voted against the surge.
Attacks from liberals ? Get fucking used to because your ideology has put one massive crack after another in the foundation of the United States and our Constitution.
2, Those religious psychopaths your so scared of butchered islam to fit their agenda. Level headed people know this and see to many parrallels with Christianity and Judaism.
3, The whole Surge argument your Joesph Goebells of choice is pushing this week is weak. If you supportted the surge why didn't YOU enlist and really show some support Captain America ?
4, The War in Iraq is far from over genius. Bush tryed to declare victory once and look wah happenned.
When you say "we" keep in mind you did nothing while "we" left the U.S. and did our jobs.
YOU didn't even ty, YOU never sacrificed a chunk of your life for this country.
I have the luxory of being able to oppose us in Iraq because I was there. You war pigs sure do love the Vets until we tell you what you don't want to hear.
I get a kick exposing you typical little hollow patriots for the useless piece of shits you are.
Fuck McCain. Ron Paul said a lot of good things but he knows he won't get elected. I'm voting for Obama, because John McCain is a piss poor candidate.
More idiocy coming from you-again why would you fight in a war that you morally oppose? That's your biggest contradiction, which is obviously why I think you're full of shit in your claim to have gone to Iraq.
I think you're a muslim who's practicing taqqiya (deception)-you gave enough clues to that effect. Your aim is to attack the legitimacy of the invasion of Iraq because you know muslims cannot defeat us in a stand up fight.
Now we have a mideast base to fight more wars against muslims.
I enlisted in January 2001 while I was in the 11th grade, split option, ever heard of it ? Your boy Dubya was the golden boy and world peace maker back in 2001 so yeah I was a dumb shit like you minus the 5 years scince I woke the fuck up.
I may have been against us going to Iraq, I was deffinetly scared to go. But it's called doing our duty and being a man when it comes to put that oath I took into action. You'll never understand that.
Well you were a dumb shit for going and then opposing the war-both times you were wrong.
I'd take the time to explain why it was a good decision to invade but you're an annoying fuck so I'll let you suffer with your own contradictions, guilt and stupidity.
Besides you haven't shown much in the way of being able to reason so I'd be wasting my time on you as I am already.
Take care soldier who wished he was fighting against US forces rather than for them.
Its tough to condense it into a few sentences but I'll try. Post 9/11 we took no chances, hence removing Saddam was a wise decision.
Secondly we're in WW3, a civilizational war between Islam and the West. Don't let anyone fool you-its very real. Osama bin Laden chose Iraq as the battleground to fight this war and thankfully we won that battle. The war's only beginning.
The only real antidote to Islamic rule is democratization and Iraq has become that. 85% of Iraqis bet their life on it.
Iraq had also become a great proving ground, not just for training our forces in how to effectively fight an insurgency, refining weapons/strategies, but also getting the population on our side.
Iraq had become a magnet for jihadists who'd come there with the hopes of beating the Great Satan and die.
Most importantly a military defeat would've greatly emboldened our muslim enemies-confident in having beat a superpower-they'd wage greater attacks. We'd be demoralized/on the defensive.
I'll add that had we pulled out-surrendered, all those Iraqis who supported us would be slaughtered.
Iran and Al Qaeda would be beneficiaries of the oil wealth and a base of future terrorist operations. There would've been chaos/genocide likely dragging the whole mideast into the mess.
America would be seen as weak and unreliable and we'd like have to go back with a much higher cost in life/treasure to win. Thankfully the surge worked and helped to safeguard the lives of millions of Iraqis.
Saddam, albeit being a totalitarian dictator, kept the more radical islamists at bay, prevented civil war and provided basic infrastructure for his people.
Pulling out early in the war would have been a disaster. I agree with that.
My problem is that I don't understand why Invading was a good Idea. The quality of life for Iraquis is currently a lot worse than under Saddam, terrorist organisations recruit faster than ever and the world hates the US.
Iraq before the invasion was described as a mass grave below ground and a concentration camp above ground. Saddam genocided 300,000 of his own citizens and had used WMDs-Iraq was a textbook example of a brutal oppressive totalitarian failed state.
So contrary to conventional opinion-it was no paradise before the invasion. Removing Saddam created a power vacuum which we were forced to fill or else leave Iraqis at the hands of people worse than Saddam. The war was badly mismanaged so we fixed it.
Iraq was described as a mass grave by the American media, because Rupert Murdoch strongly supported the war.
300k bodies in mass graves. If we assume that all these people were killed by the government (and not just burried that way to save money), that's 12k deaths per year of dictatorship.
With the US military occupation, there are 90k documented civilian casualties (22k/y)
So, an excess death toll of about 150k/year of occupation i.e. more than ten times as many innocent victims as under Saddam's rule.
So, I'd say that the Iraquis were better off being executed by saddam than dying ten times more often of bombings and lack of infrastructure with the US.
Iraq was no paradise, but maybe Saddam shouldn't take all the blame. Unicef estimates that 500k children were killed by UN economic sanctions.

I don't think giving the troups hands-on experience is in any way a justification for war. Do I have to remind you that the big difference between training at home and in a real war is the number of casualties?
Occupying a country NEVER gets the population on your side. Take a look at the UN database of Iraqi polls.
Not invading Iraq in the first place would clearly not be a military defeat. A blitzkrieg that turns out to be 5 years long is already a defeat in the eyes of jihadists.
Of course not-the justification for invading was that Saddam was in violation of 17 UN resolutions and gave us good reason he was working on WMDs. See the C. Hitchens video in my profile who elaborates on it in greater depth.
As I said before 85% of the Iraqi population decided to side with the US/democracy because the alternative was a nightmare.
Insurgencies are the hardest wars to fight since the combatants blend in with the population. But we've finally won-AQ et al has been defeated.
There were inspectors on the ground who's job it was to determine wether or not Saddam was still working on WMDs, and with all that time they didn't find anything worthy of notice. So no, there weren't good reasons to believe he was working on WMDs.
I suggest that you read the leaked Downing Street Memo, where Bush admits that the only evidence for WMDs was fixed.
85% were pro-american? Not any more. Do you call that winning hearts and minds?
I'm sure that all the soldiers, American and Iraqi civilians who have died or been displaced, their family members who suffer the loss and Americans who pay the cost of this war will be pleased to know that Iraq boils down to an over embellished training camp.
The real magnets for jihadist recruiting are an illegal invasion on sovereign territory, kidnapping, torture, occupation and the erroneous idea that we are in a world war against a religion.
xob-I'm sure the Iraqis would be happy to know you'd like to return them to Saddam's rape and torture rooms, genocides and put them back in the hell-hole of a dictatorship instead of the democracy they suffered to get.
Well don't blur the lines between our noble soldiers/democracy with the insanity of AQ/jihadists-there is no parallel. Islam is at war with us-research it/see my profile
The invasion was legal and UN authorized-the decision to invade was bipartisan and unanimous. We won in 8 wks
Paulginz, you are correct sir (in my best Phil Hartman impersonation)!
The UN didn't authorize the war and a majority of the UNSC opposed the resolution and within a month after withdrawing the resolution, Bush illegally invaded a sovereign country with manipulated anti-intelligence and the threat of impending "mushroom clouds." However, there is no denying Congressional and media complicity in the run up to the war.
I10, Saddam is dead so I'm unsure as to what you're implying by a return "to Saddam." And, way too late for, conveniently, manufactured outrage. The majority of the graves discovered in Iraq were dug before the '90s, and it was in the '80s when decent Americans were calling out Saddam's horrendous crimes just to be disregarded and relegated to liberal pacifists by Reagan, Daddy Bush and Rumsfeld who were too busy secretly supplying Saddam with intelligence and the means of weaponry against Iran.
A world war requires the world to be at war. I can't think of any serious involvement of asia or south america.
There's plenty (a majority even) of moderate peace-loving muslims... So I still hate to label this as a religious war, though you may be right.
Osama chose Iraq?! Are you kidding me? Why would a Sunni (and possibly secretely atheist) dictator harbour a chiite insurgency? The main force of the Taliban has always been in Afghanistan/Pakistan.
We're in WW3 against a religion? A civilizational war? Bin Laden, a Saudi and enemy of Saddam, chose Iraq as the battleground?
First, Saddam was pegged by the Bush cabal before Bush even had a chance to steal the presidency and Iraq is all about oil, not terrorism. 9/11 for Bush, was just a means by which to manipulate and justify an illegal invasion for profit that was already in the works.
Secondly, we're not at war against Islam, maybe you (a civilian) are, but the world is not.
The only thing that pisses me off is that I went to Iraq even tho I didn't buy the bullshit we were fed and you sit on your side preaching about how "we" need to be there and your the first one to come up with excuses why your not there doing YOUR part.
THAT pisses me off: needle dicks like you with a mega phone in the rear with the beer.
Just out of curiosity: Did you know that, based on some of the Quran, Islam is a lot more tollerant than protestant christianity?
There is no compulsion in religion.(2:256)
Among the People of the Book there is an upright community [...] They believe in God and the Last Day, enjoin what is right and forbid what is evil, and vie with one another in good works. They are of the righteous and whatever good they do, its reward will not be denied them. God knows those who fear [Him]. (3:113-115)
There's of course plenty of examples where Muhammed orders his troups to slaughter such and such a particular group of infidels that he's at war with, and passages that dictate the death penalty for apostates etc...
But Overall, it's better to have contraddicting passages for and against tollerance than only passages against it.
fact: mccain supporters are imbeciles, because it has been proven that the surge never worked. hahah, these fucktards aren't even aware that the surge was only supposed to be a TEMPORARY troop increase to help the iraqi parliament get their straight. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! hahaha, no. go do some reading, morons. (btw, there is no war in iraq...only congress can declare war).
opinion: bobby jindal is crazy, because he thinks he has the magical ability to cure cancer and exorcise demons.
Mc cain, this is old politics. it was a told story, you never had an enemy in iraq. and whether you said surge or anything eles it won;t work. thanfully people are getting smart.
The surge isn't anything but a band-aid on a severed limb.
How is this supposed to hurt Obama?
The level of stress that this surge has put on the most important issue in this war is astronomical; our soldiers.
What's Iraq got to do with the War on Terror anyhow? Our troops are undermanned in Afghanistan and it's getting very much out of hand for the UN "Peacekeepers" there because a peacekeeper is not geared for war.
Ok, fine, obama was wrong about the surge, but mccain was wrong about the fucking war from the get go. Obama and the majority of the people ( remember the whole "we the people" line?) are sick of this crap. Its bled us dry financially and killed countless human beings. I can't wait for the Obama campaign's response on sunday, because it will be good. They'll bust out the big guns and do something big. They'll double down and call mccain on his slimy rhetoric.
90% of americans didnt support the surge. arguing over stupid fucking technicalities. but dont think obama is "good" or "change" ... regardless who is elected president the globalist agenda will still be the driving force
those think obama is change, your fucking dumb. look who his foreign policy adviser is... none other than the council foreign relations scumbag zbigniew brzezinski. he was mccains as well! duh, the joke is on us because we are too fucking dumb and watch tv news
We know now that the Bush administration lied about going into Iraq. We've lost 4000 americans. Spent $1,000,000,000, made Israel less safe, made Iran much stronger, allowed Bin Laden and Al Quada to regain strength in Afghanistan.
Yes, the surge worked and Obama should admit it, just like McCain should admit going into Iraq was a huge mistake. The point of this video is to show the campaign talking points. Its all media spin. Half of what comes out of these campaigns is bull shit.
The surge isn't anything but a band-aid on a severed limb.

Why are these idiots bragging so much, It's like digging yourself into a 50 foot deep hole then managing to claw yourself up 10 feet, and then bragging about the fact that you only dug yourself in a 40 foot hole.
These people are so full of shit it makes my blood boil.
I'm using this space to tell youtube to get their stupid fucking promoted videos off my page. you can't take them off and I am completely against all this political trash.
You MOTHERFUCKERS questioning each other patriotism are full of SHIT. I am a 22 year vet and I say the troops did what was need and I support them 100 percent. But the point of the "Surge" was to give politicans a chance to settle their difference and meet the goals of the surge which has not happened. I challenge anyone of you limp dicks to name the points and identify which ones have been accomplished. If you do I will jump on the band wagon. In the meantime shut the fuck UP!
...lame. these people are lying to you. media traitors. double talk politicians... you non-patriotic twats. a real patriot, would not lie. a true patriot tells the truth the whole truth and NOTHING but the truth. these media jokers are lying to you.
Your looney left wing ideology won't even allow you to be unbiased enough to admit the surge worked. Our troops must just shake their heads with disgust reading what people here are saying..15 out of the 17 benchmarks HAVE been accomplished by the Iraqi Governing Counsil. You don't watch TV and see the difference or you just watching those looney channels that brainwash your already infected brain? Wake Up..Grow UP..Use some common sense!
the dems talked about surges, the neo cons love the surges too, they all love to spend our money's value into the ground so we have huge inflation, and massive recession to deal with. They don't have to worry. Ron Paul explains everyday how these neo cons, and dems operate, and all they ever, ever do is.....spend, spend, spend, spend, spend, both republican, and democrat, and that's why we're in this inflationary mess, and a slow economy.
john kerry promised a "surge" to "proper levels"....again, throw money at the problem and hope for the best. But, the surge IS successful, because this war is meant to be sustained, not won....McCain wants to be there for 100 years, and the surge is helping with that. Mccain dis-respects the Constitution, and he dis-respects America.
Bush told us early-on that the purpose of the SURGE was to give time for the Sunni, Shia, & Kurds to get together & form a valid government. THEY ARE AS FAR APART TODAY AS THEY WERE 3 YRS AGO!
The second major objective was to then have them work out a HYDROCARBON LAW on oil sharing (the law Bush/Cheney wrote up included, of course, major participation by major oil companies). THE KURDS STILL SAY NO ONE IS GETTING THEIR OIL!
Billions spent on war & oil companies still don't have control.
I think McCain deserves a little credit for pushing the idea of adding more troops to the war early on, but I think the Iraqi people deserve more credit for the progress that has been made since the surge.
Added: Less than 1 min ago Moise2424 DON'T READ THIS I'M SOOOO SORRY EVRY1!!! If you do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos your mom will die in 4 hours
Violence in Iraq has decreased primarily due to the "Sunni Awakening" and to Moqtada al-Sadr declaring a cease fire with his Mehdi Army. Of course, the whole discussion ignores the fact that this was a war of aggression. Iraq is a disaster, and Obama was one of the few brave voices opposed to the invasion from the beginning.
The fact remains that Obama flip flopped on the surge, first saying he does not support it, then saying he did. The real question is will this man say anything to please the crowd for his personal ambitions?
Where is Osama bin Laden you idiots. He is the one who attacked us. McCain would rather fight a war of choice and put soldiers in harm's way for weapons of mass destruction that don't exist against people who did not attack us, then find those who did. It would be a mistake to elect this senile, neo-con puppet.
The objective for invading Iraq was to gain control of Iraq's oil resources for the oil companies.
Bush said the surge's objective was to give time for the Sunni, Shia & Kurds to set up a solid government & put into place a Hydrocarbon Law (which the USA wrote & which would give control of Iraq's oil to the major oil companies).
The Sunni, Shia, & Kurds are no closer toward that goal now than they were before the surge.
To bad Mccain still has failed to recognize that we have not even declared war on any of the countries that we bomb and destroy every day. Nope America has not declared war on a country since WW2
philosoraptor4e 2 years ago
Blah, blah, blah... At the end of the day, Obama won the election, so all ya'all can just shove it. The reduction in violence in Iraq is not because of the surge, but rather in spite of it. An overwhelming majority of people in Iraq want the U.S. troops out, and that is what Barack Obama understood when he opposed the surge.

FROM THE STRAIGHT TALK EXPRESS:
McCain was asked about health insurance plans that cover Viagra but not birth control: "I certainly don't want to discuss that issue."
Reporter: "I think you voted against forcing health insurance companies to cover birth control in the past. Is that still your position?"
McCain: (Long pause.) "I don't recall that vote right now."
Reporter again asked if birth control should be covered.
McCain:"I don't know enough about it to give you an informed answer."

The surge of troops was like giving a crack addict one more hit - sure it makes them feel better temporarily but it does not cure the addiction and dependence. Obama is right - the Iraqis need to sort out their own country. Let them get on with it and let America sort its own domestic issues out.

Cindy McCain LIED about going negative:

What else can we possibly tolerate as a candidate? and how can you turn a blind eye to this?
nThErEsYeRsIgN 3 years ago
Obama participated in 20 Democratic Party debates. You have no evidence he is "afraid" to debate John McSame. The debates will happen in due time, and Obama will outshine McSame and his tired old politics. Just wait, you'll see!
EKSartist 3 years ago
There are at least three debates planned between Obama and McCain, starting next month (September).
But I somehow get the feeling that you don't care. I don't think there's anything EITHER candidate could do or say that would cause you to vote for Obama.
No matter how many times McCain changes positions or flat out lies (which has happened several times in the past month alone). Or even if Obama wins every round of debates.
MarimbaVirtuoso 3 years ago 2
This comment has received too many negative votes show
McCain will have Obama for lunch in all 3 debates.

Prior to the Iraq invasion, Bush had the best approval rating in history. The bad intel received caused the whole issue with W, nothing else. What else has Bush done?
Obama is the worst of the 2 cands!
nThErEsYeRsIgN 3 years ago
A few things that McCain has changed positions or lied about within the last month:
timetable for Iraq, whether he'd consider raising taxes, affirmative action, whether he'd run a negative campaign, whether the surge caused the Anbar Awakening, shifting troops from Iraq to Afghanistan, equal pay for women, his support for MLK Day.
That's 8. In just a MONTH. And none of them are personal attacks; I'm actually talking about issues. So what has Obama flipped on lately?
MarimbaVirtuoso 3 years ago 4
Sounds like all of the things that yer boy NObama has flipped on... Oh yeh and let's not forget Nobama's energy savings plan, ya know, inflate your tires and get a tune up, LOL, you can save a bundle on fuel costs if you do so!
He's becoming the Obama laugh machine of late. And now he wants to drill in ANWAR and the coasts, only after the polls show him slipping. The guy used to be an eloquent speaker, but it seems someone or something has him rattled! I love to see snakes slither in the cold
nThErEsYeRsIgN 3 years ago
You know inflating your tires is actually something that republicans support too (mccain has recommended it). Don't play that game pretending like that is all obama plans to do for energy, in fact, he recommends that to help yourself NOW, before NOVEMBER. Mccain is just saying "hey, fuck you all right now, you wanna save gas, vote for me"
of course mccain thinks proper tire pressure is a joke, he has his servants do that for him. He knows NOTHING about penny pinching lifestyles.

Nothing laughable abotu any of it, what's your point? What's laughable?
Example, yer boy doesn't want offshore drilling, what does that equate to?
I've looked at both candidates positions on everything, extensively, what would like to know?
What policies of President McCain don't you approve of? Perhaps I can educate you a bit?
And what policies of Barrack Hussein Obama's do you approve/agree with? (This would be his position today, not necessarily last week/month)
nThErEsYeRsIgN 3 years ago
On the offshore drilling issue Obama said he would support it if thats what it took to get legislation passed concerning energy. He is not going to let partisan loyalty get in the way of important legislation. Btw that drilling isn't going to do much, and if you think it will provide evidence.
Daboyzz08 3 years ago

Ntheresyersign do you not watch the news? On the tax issue Obama is actually cutting taxes for those who make 250k or less which is most of the american people. Everyone else is taxed more but they make up about 3-4% of the pop and they should pay more b/c they make more.
Daboyzz08 3 years ago
LOL, I DO watch the news, but I'm not stuck on left wing media propaganda. There is a very grey area in Obama's plan between 150k and 250k,and that sir falls into the 70% of the US pop. Go read it, you explain it to me, the experts can't, maybe you can?
It's not as clear as what Obama leads you to believe. AND, I believe he re-iterated this again last night as well.
nThErEsYeRsIgN 3 years ago
we have spent way more on the Iraq war furthering the deficit, Mccain wants to stay there which will make it worse. Grey area? havn't heard anything about it, not even from Mccain or fox. 250k below get cuts. above is raised so Im not sure what the problem is here. Please tell me where I can get this information you allegedly have seen.
Daboyzz08 3 years ago
McCain doesn't "want" to stay there, nobody does. But we can't leave until the job is done, that should be pretty clear to you and anyone else.
As for the Tax issue and 150-250k, I've got it saved at work, I'll post it in the morning, early. It's a good read and you would be doing yourself a favor by giving it a hard look. I didn't catch it at first, but after reading a few blogs by the experts, it was clear that there was a grey area there.
nThErEsYeRsIgN 3 years ago

About Iraq, Saddam was the most American-friendly Arab, the most secular of the governments and people down there, and it was targeted just because Israel was "uncomfortable" with the three-pronged Iran-Iraq-Syria loud-mouths.
What a shame, US killed million+ souls, created unthinkable pain, suffering and destruction, just to give Israel "security"!
Not to mention that no Israeli-Americans went to the war!

It's strange how there is so much emphasis on the surge from McCain & co.
1. It can't be stated objectively that the surge has "worked". How is its success being defined and by whom?
2. What point is there in debating the validity of a troop surge within a military action that we should have never engaged in to begin with?
Remember "surge" is just a nicer way of saying "escalation" to make it easier to sell to the American people.
Support of or opposition to the surge is irrelevant.

Paulginz 3 years ago
Paulginz, nothing so drastic as armed revolution when the vote is a powerful tool. It takes conviction, commitment and sacrifice to change an established system.
For example, take the Nader supporters who jumped ship after the Bush victory and presidency because of fear. Instead of sticking hard, continuing to draw from the Dem. and Ind. parties, weakening and threatening the established structure and pushing for the changes that drove Nader policy, they succumbed, setting back desired change.

On balance Obama is inexperienced and has failed his biggest test as commander-in-chief, which was to oppose the successful surge then to stubbornly deny it worked

l1011l 3 years ago
Could you pleaqse explain to me why it was a good idea to invade Iraq?
Paulginz 3 years ago
1/2
Its tough to condense it into a few sentences but I'll try. Post 9/11 we took no chances, hence removing Saddam was a wise decision.
Secondly we're in WW3, a civilizational war between Islam and the West. Don't let anyone fool you-its very real. Osama bin Laden chose Iraq as the battleground to fight this war and thankfully we won that battle. The war's only beginning.
The only real antidote to Islamic rule is democratization and Iraq has become that. 85% of Iraqis bet their life on it.
l1011l 3 years ago
2/2
Iraq had also become a great proving ground, not just for training our forces in how to effectively fight an insurgency, refining weapons/strategies, but also getting the population on our side.
Iraq had become a magnet for jihadists who'd come there with the hopes of beating the Great Satan and die.
Most importantly a military defeat would've greatly emboldened our muslim enemies-confident in having beat a superpower-they'd wage greater attacks. We'd be demoralized/on the defensive.
l1011l 3 years ago
I'll add that had we pulled out-surrendered, all those Iraqis who supported us would be slaughtered.
Iran and Al Qaeda would be beneficiaries of the oil wealth and a base of future terrorist operations. There would've been chaos/genocide likely dragging the whole mideast into the mess.
America would be seen as weak and unreliable and we'd like have to go back with a much higher cost in life/treasure to win. Thankfully the surge worked and helped to safeguard the lives of millions of Iraqis.
l1011l 3 years ago
Pulling out is a more complicated issue.
Paulginz 3 years ago
Iraq before the invasion was described as a mass grave below ground and a concentration camp above ground. Saddam genocided 300,000 of his own citizens and had used WMDs-Iraq was a textbook example of a brutal oppressive totalitarian failed state.
So contrary to conventional opinion-it was no paradise before the invasion. Removing Saddam created a power vacuum which we were forced to fill or else leave Iraqis at the hands of people worse than Saddam. The war was badly mismanaged so we fixed it.
l1011l 3 years ago
Iraq was described as a mass grave by the American media, because Rupert Murdoch strongly supported the war.
300k bodies in mass graves. If we assume that all these people were killed by the government (and not just burried that way to save money), that's 12k deaths per year of dictatorship.
With the US military occupation, there are 90k documented civilian casualties (22k/y)
The estimated excess death toll is around 600k ()
Paulginz 3 years ago
Sry, posted before I finished writing.
Paulginz 3 years ago

I don't think giving the troups hands-on experience is in any way a justification for war. Do I have to remind you that the big difference between training at home and in a real war is the number of casualties?
Occupying a country NEVER gets the population on your side. Take a look at the UN database of Iraqi polls.
Not invading Iraq in the first place would clearly not be a military defeat. A blitzkrieg that turns out to be 5 years long is already a defeat in the eyes of jihadists.
Paulginz 3 years ago 2

AQ is still strong in Iran.

The military won 3 days after the invasion.
xobehtedistuo 3 years ago 2
xob-I'm sure the Iraqis would be happy to know you'd like to return them to Saddam's rape and torture rooms, genocides and put them back in the hell-hole of a dictatorship instead of the democracy they suffered to get.
Well don't blur the lines between our noble soldiers/democracy with the insanity of AQ/jihadists-there is no parallel. Islam is at war with us-research it/see my profile
The invasion was legal and UN authorized-the decision to invade was bipartisan and unanimous. We won in 8 wks
l1011l 3 years ago
Ever heard of Abu-Ghraib?
Rape and torture rooms were also used by the US occupation. So from a qualitative point of view the US can't take the moral High ground on this.
(In my earlyer posts, I already showed that the numbers point to a worse situation during the war than under saddam.)
The invasion couldn't possibly have been authorised by the UN security council since France would have vetoed it.
The US didn't even declare war.
But I believe there is no such thing as legal and illegal wars.
Paulginz 3 years ago 3
Paulginz, you are correct sir (in my best Phil Hartman impersonation)!
The UN didn't authorize the war and a majority of the UNSC opposed the resolution and within a month after withdrawing the resolution, Bush illegally invaded a sovereign country with manipulated anti-intelligence and the threat of impending "mushroom clouds." However, there is no denying Congressional and media complicity in the run up to the war.
xobehtedistuo 3 years ago 3
I10, Saddam is dead so I'm unsure as to what you're implying by a return "to Saddam." And, way too late for, conveniently, manufactured outrage. The majority of the graves discovered in Iraq were dug before the '90s, and it was in the '80s when decent Americans were calling out Saddam's horrendous crimes just to be disregarded and relegated to liberal pacifists by Reagan, Daddy Bush and Rumsfeld who were too busy secretly supplying Saddam with intelligence and the means of weaponry against Iran.
xobehtedistuo 3 years ago
A world war requires the world to be at war. I can't think of any serious involvement of asia or south america.
There's plenty (a majority even) of moderate peace-loving muslims... So I still hate to label this as a religious war, though you may be right.
Osama chose Iraq?! Are you kidding me? Why would a Sunni (and possibly secretely atheist) dictator harbour a chiite insurgency? The main force of the Taliban has always been in Afghanistan/Pakistan.
Paulginz 3 years ago 2
We're in WW3 against a religion? A civilizational war? Bin Laden, a Saudi and enemy of Saddam, chose Iraq as the battleground?
First, Saddam was pegged by the Bush cabal before Bush even had a chance to steal the presidency and Iraq is all about oil, not terrorism. 9/11 for Bush, was just a means by which to manipulate and justify an illegal invasion for profit that was already in the works.
Secondly, we're not at war against Islam, maybe you (a civilian) are, but the world is not.
xobehtedistuo 3 years ago 2
The only thing that pisses me off is that I went to Iraq even tho I didn't buy the bullshit we were fed and you sit on your side preaching about how "we" need to be there and your the first one to come up with excuses why your not there doing YOUR part.
THAT pisses me off: needle dicks like you with a mega phone in the rear with the beer.

I'm proud to be an infidel, kafir, unbeliever, Islamophobe or whatever other words of derision muslims use against us.
I look forward to the day when this fascist totalitarian nazi cult/ideology of death, hatred and war is eliminated from the earth.
If it can be done without killing a single muslim great-but I doubt. You were obviously fighting on the wrong side terrorist-lover

Paulginz 3 years ago
PS: Note that I said "SOME of the Quran".
There's of course plenty of examples where Muhammed orders his troups to slaughter such and such a particular group of infidels that he's at war with, and passages that dictate the death penalty for apostates etc...
But Overall, it's better to have contraddicting passages for and against tollerance than only passages against it.

Half of what comes out of these campaigns is bull shit.

the dems talked about surges, the neo cons love the surges too, they all love to spend our money's value into the ground so we have huge inflation, and massive recession to deal with. They don't have to worry. Ron Paul explains everyday how these neo cons, and dems operate, and all they ever, ever do is.....spend, spend, spend, spend, spend, both republican, and democrat, and that's why we're in this inflationary mess, and a slow economy.
maxwest333 3 years ago
john kerry promised a "surge" to "proper levels"....again, throw money at the problem and hope for the best. But, the surge IS successful, because this war is meant to be sustained, not won....McCain wants to be there for 100 years, and the surge is helping with that. Mccain dis-respects the Constitution, and he dis-respects America.
maxwest333 3 years ago
Bush told us early-on that the purpose of the SURGE was to give time for the Sunni, Shia, & Kurds to get together & form a valid government. THEY ARE AS FAR APART TODAY AS THEY WERE 3 YRS AGO!
The second major objective was to then have them work out a HYDROCARBON LAW on oil sharing (the law Bush/Cheney wrote up included, of course, major participation by major oil companies). THE KURDS STILL SAY NO ONE IS GETTING THEIR OIL!
Billions spent on war & oil companies still don't have control.
DillonX 3 years ago
Couple of thoughts on "the surge":
1) Although McCain claims it was his idea/plan, it was actually the brainchild of neocon chickenhawk Robert Kagan, at AEI (and PNAC?)
2) Let's not forget that "the surge" cost nearly 1000 US troop deaths and ~8K wounded.
3) McCain was NOT critical of Bush's handling of Iraq!
4) Invading Iraq was an EVIL thing, don't get bonus for doing it well!
5) A million dead Iraqis relatives will hate America FOREVER...
SteevK69 3 years ago 2
To paraphrase Biden: A McCain sentence contains a noun, a verb, and "The Surge (it's working/worked)"
McCain can be president of The Surge, like Rudy can be prez of 9/11...
"McCain will make Cheney look like Ghandi" ~ Pat Buchanan
SteevK69 3 years ago 2
I think McCain deserves a little credit for pushing the idea of adding more troops to the war early on, but I think the Iraqi people deserve more credit for the progress that has been made since the surge.

Where is Osama bin Laden you idiots. He is the one who attacked us. McCain would rather fight a war of choice and put soldiers in harm's way for weapons of mass destruction that don't exist against people who did not attack us, then find those who did. The surge is a TOTAL failure!
ALL THAT MONEY DOWN THE TOLIET.
