The difference is in the pressure of your blowing. You can hold your fingers on the top two holes and play a low A or a high A based on how much air pressure you put through the whistle.
It sounds like it's going to be hard to figure out and remember, but it's great. Natural whistling is the same way and the whistle becomes like whistling with your lips. The different pressures associated with different pitches, and different finger positions all work together to help you.
i ordered a set of tinwhistles B, C, D, ESS, F and G but this site is down =\ i have no way to learn by myself now are there any other good tutorials on the net?
ive been to this site. its good but i need tabs.not notes but tabs. i cant read music. cant find any actual tabs online except one site..i think. Guess I'll have to buy a book! drats.
It is much better to take the time to learn to read traditional music scorres than to rely on tablature for everything for this reason. Tabs don't exist for everything, but if one knows how to read music, they can learn to play almost anything.
yes i know tabs dont exist for everything. I have seen some.,,,but not many,,,tabs for whistles. Learning how to read music requires time and patience. Two things I have little of. I come from a musical family but for some reason nobody seemed to read music. I just take it by ear like the old man.
Yeah, to play flats you cover half of the hole lower. To play a C natural instead of the open C#, you put you left middle and ring finger down, convering the second two holes.
mistake! Language position incorrectly!!
