I have to ask, and the very end of the video what was the point of video taping reving your si to 3100 rpm? Were you trying to show how easy it is to make to rpms barely go up? Im just wondering? Also, why didnt you do something interesting in the video like to a launch, or hit the gas and show you accelerating quickly? After all you bought a performance car for a reason didnt you?

The car was brand new off the lot so I was babying her. These videos are more for the 1st new car experience than anything else. Hence, the video title.

If i were you i would not have able to keep myself from doing a few launches and v-tecing a little bit. When i bought my 09 civic LX i was flooring it right off the lot and as soon as i got on the freeway i was already hitting 90 and giving wide open throttle every 2 seconds haha.

Whats your average mpg in just city driving? I'm thinking of getting an Si but 90% of my driving is in the city. Its rated at 21, but do you usually do better? By the way, I'm loving the color of your ride...

I average 25-27 mpg depending on how much I stay in the high RPM range (aka VTEC).

ahh.. yes. Last refill 9.67gal at 244mi. You do the math. This is shifting below 4500rpm in traffic and VTECing it at least 3-4 times a day on open roads (less or no traffic).

I just filled up mine tonight at 281.9 miles and used 9.47 gallons...29.7 mpg! The vast majority of that was highway driving, and shifting below 4000 rpm otherwise (with the occassionally VTEC of course and a few times going up to 5000, but sparingly). EPA rates this at 21 city/29 highway, so mine fits in about right.

but anyways, while we're on the topic of gas mileage, i have a 2000 Honda Prelude. and i've found that running in mid to high RPM's actually gives me better gas mileage. running it into the VTEC helps a lot. i used abut a gallon and a half on this twisty road that was 40.9 miles long. i never floored it but i never let the revs go below about 4500.

so i dont know, just thought i'd throw that in there.

I am not sure how you calculated 1 gallon and a half. Next time you fill up (gas pump stops automatically) reset the trip meter and drive like you always do. Then at your next pit stop take the miles recorded on your trip meter and divide that by the amount of gallons you needed to refill the tank. Then let me know what you get.

well i filled it up before i went on the road and then when i got off of it i immediately wen to fill it up. i put roughly a gallon and a half in. and since then i have calculated my MPG and i get 23-24. but yea sorry for the earlier confusion.
