please stop critquing my band. this is from many years ago so your can't do anything about "fixing" things. joliet central has an amazing history and tradition and if you can't just enjoy listening to this amazing piece of art by a historical band than please don't listen, although you'd be missing out. also the 4 dislikes are crazy people, just saying.
This band should record and sell their cds. I would buy them at any cost. The musicianship revealed in these youtube offerings is so mature and show talent way beyond what is expected from young men and women in high school. The town of Joliet and the state of Illinois should be proud of these young and talented students.
@parzifal40 There is a CD that this was taken from. It is a two CD set of the bands performances at the University of Illinois Superstate Band Competitions under the direction of Ted Lega, where they appeared 16 times and were named Honor Band or performed as Honor Band 15 of 16 times. The "Joliet Township HS Alumni", I believe, sell this CD. Glad you enjoyed it!
defininetly holst, the woodwinds have great pitch control good job, the trumpets are also very clear and not muddled by the rest of the band; great balance. the trombone/french horn intro then backing at about 2:30 needs to blend more, the sections are out of tune with each other, unless of course the chords are written that way. make sure the pitch is controlled at 4:40, it's not very clear in the trumpets. great articulation in the intro to the second movement, weight the note before the slur
:) i love the staccatto in the trumpets in the last one. My band (high school) is playing this piece and it sounds pretty good, butr its nothing compared to this lol. i play flute, but in the peice im an oboe because we dont have one xD
Okay.....that rating wa on accident, and I don't know how to take back ratings. I meant to give that a five, not a 1. I absolutely love this piece...Holst was amazing.
Although the trumpets and woodwinds(pointedly clarinets, flutes, oboes) sometimes do not obtain the pitch required in the higher notes, the level of technique within especially the clarinets, oboes and flutes is amazing. Those runs and sudden octave leaps are extremely difficult and they hit them, on time, every note. Technique is amazing in this band.
Why is this in the wrong key?
