  • 0:34 lmfao just watch

  • this guy is an idiottt!!!!!!hahahahahaah

  • Stupidest video ever!! He is rotating his wrist when moving his body....

Furthermore, any orthopedic doctor will tell you having your elbow above your shoulder is a very bad idea. Just watch major league, preferably in slow motion..

  • THIS GUY WILL DESTROY YOUR ELBOW AND SHOULDER DO NOT DO WITHOUT DOING IT VERY SLOW YOU CAN INJURE SO MUCH PUTTING TOO MUCH EMPHASIS ON ONLY YOUR ARM ITS VERY IMPORTANT FOR EVERYTHING TO COME FROM YOUR FEET THEN HIPS AND NATURALLY LET YOUR STYLE FLOW.

  • Elbow above your shoulder is the worst thing you can do for your arm. It produces too much extra stress on the labrum and rotator cuff. To determine your arm slot you need to look at a throwers shoulder tilt while making sure the elbow is slightly below the plain of the shoulders. When a pitchers front foot lands his belt needs to be facing home while his shoulders are still closed and throwing arm is up and ready with elbow below shoulder and ball facing 1st if LHP or 3rd if RHP

  • Finally, a good arm position video!!!

  • LOOK UP PERRINE BASEBALL ADRIEN #24

  • damn he farted @ 0:35 :D

  • This guy has no idea what he is talking about... follow this instructions and you will be lead down the path of injury...

  • @MrYalie You are correct sir! Having the elbow above the plane of the shoulder is one of the main things to look for with players who have arm problems. You don't need to worry about your throwing arm position. If everything else in your body has proper mechanics (feet, hips, shoulders, glove arm), your throwing arm will naturally follow through on its genetically determined arm path.

  • so really in a game you should be throwing like this only a lot faster

  • HE FARTED :D

  • hï_ÂnýÓÑÈ_wAnñÂ_chàt_wÍth_mê_Ï_fËÉl_sÓ_lòÑêlÿ_tøDåÿ◘

  • bad drill do not do this! watch any major league player that dont get injured mo, halliday, they dont do that becuase it putting ure power away from the target it better to be either be striaght line or even a bit under ths shoulder with the ball facing forwards

  • This is a BAD drill, largely because this guy has no idea what a good throw actually looks like.

For one thing, he wants the back elbow too high. No good players actually throw with the elbow up at ear level.

Showing the ball to CF, and not 3B, can also lead to elbow problems.

  • @ChrisKOLeary oh yea im pretty sure he helped coach a number one varsity team so he might have an idea

  • @wasupbreh This guy has no clue what a high level throw looks like. He's just regurgitating the conventional wisdom. No pros show the ball to CF. The reason why is that it increases the risk of elbow problems. I work with lots of kids, and showing the ball to CF is one of the leading causes of elbow problems in kids (and things are getting worse because of videos like this one).

  • REDICULOUSLY STUPID - DONT COOKIE CUT PLAYERS - the truth is everyone is different in terms of throwing action and this guy doesnt have a clue. he sounds like a good bllshtter and could definately b a car salesman.

  • the best way to throw a baseball is to either ask your father and if he never played baseball then ask an older person how to throw a baseball. and i garentee you that the way how they will show you how to throw a baseball is absolutely different and 7 out of 10 people that kno baseball will say that your way is the closest way of arm surgery,,,,,,,,

  • i was tought my whole life how to throw a baseball correctly. i am eighteen and i am going to play college ball. but my senior year in highschool my oach changed the way i threw a baseball. by holding the ball towards centerfield.....all that did to me was not make me throw harder or accurate at all. all that did to me was give me tendenites in my elbow. it almost came to a point where the doctor told me i am close of not even able to throw a ball for the rest of my life. so thats inproper.

  • this is pathetic haha

  • should be parallel not above

  • @hydejing shut up dude.

  • The reason for the enormous chronic sore arms and various surgeries especially among pitchers is that players are not being taught by competent "TEACHERS" who are experienced and capable enough to"TEACH" players how to properly use their whole body's from the ground up during their throwing movements, also when the elbows go above their shoulders there is a tremendous amount of undue strain and tension etc. on the "ROTOR CUFF" in particular,

    chk. out Top Velocity. net

    donervin1

  • did he fart at :36? lol

  • @cheree4life hahahahha yes he did i heard that perfectly lol that was definetly a fart...how embarassing

  • @ak47tas

Lol, i thought it was just me lol

  • This guy has absolutely no idea how good players actually throw the ball and what a pitcher's arm does as they throw the ball. What's worse, facing the ball away from the target increases the risk of elbow problems.

  • @ChrisKOLeary you are completely right. this isnt the first video with this sort of horrible mistakes. keeping the elbow up puts TONS of pressure on the shoulder, and you could feel that by just lifting it up into that position. and keeping the ball to the opposite side of the target first of all hurts your wrist, you can feel the pain by just doing so, and second of all increases injury risk for the shoulder itself. completely wrong.

  • this is stupid. u r supposed to cock ur wrist back stiffly. not have it loose. when its loose u have no control over it. maybe everyone has to find there own way after u hear the basics.

  • Just last week my arm just somehow had forgotten how to throw a ball. I don't try to aim it, I dont think about it, I just try to throw the ball but it ends up going everywhere else but to my target. Example: one hop, over the guys head, or sometimes nowhere near him.

    Do you have any suggestions?

  • Attention! this vid explains perfect mechanic. Look at the majority of all pros make a play in slow mo. Same thing

  • @chuckerdiezel okay, now look at them again, this time try to actually look AT the screen.

  • hey just saying if you do this it is a good way to fuck up your sholder do not do it

  • i swear this guys on crack! kids dont take advice from crackheads. wtf ''elbow above shoulder''???

  • ur retarded. This is exactly right. (I'm a college pitcher)

  • ya well i play triple A for the spokane indians and have a contract about to be hooked up so ya.

  • @1lamarche The Spokane Indians are single A. A little research goes a long way when you're trying to bullshit people.

  • LMAO!!!!!!!!!! i cant stop watching this video!!!

  • keep elbow above shoulder??? this guy never played ball in his life! please, someone tell me this guy is not coaching little kids!!!!!! WOW!!! the wrist should never be pointed away!!!!!!!!!!!!! it still has to come back in anyway!!! why the hell would anybody want to do that???? WHAT A MORON!!!!!! i cannot comprehend how this guy could be this misinformed! NO ONE in college or the pros does this!! someone please sue this guy!! LOL

  • ur retarded, this is exactly right. ppl like u r the reason kids are so terribly coached coming into high school.

  • @chuckerdiezel okay could you look up pitching mechanics or videos of, say, Gregg Maddux?

you would see how much wrong this guy is. just look at Gregg Maddux, even just his shoulders and wrist during the landing. this guy is completely wrong.

  • its very basic knowledge that any baseball player must throw with their elbow even with or above their shoulder. pitchers who drop down 3/4 or almost sidearm dont have to, but thats why they dont throw as hard, although im sure there are some very few exceptions. and infielders can throw however they want if they really just need to get the ball there quickly.

  • people who drop down to 3/4 dont throw as hard? you mean like nolan ryan, pedro martinez and randy johnson? i dont think you understand what 3/4 means.... the VAST majority of MLB pitchers throw from 3/4

  • @RAWRAMPAGERANDY I know that to be true. I also have a 3/4 arm slot.

  • @RAWRAMPAGERANDY the guys you mentioned dont throw hard just BECAUSE they go from a 3/4 angle, and yes i know what 3/4 is. i kinda made a mistake, i meant it in reference to guys (not pros) who dip their elbow below their shoulder and dont use enough of their shoulder to throw (like me at some points of my life). but yeah as far as pitchers go a lot of them throw from that angle like justin verlander too. my bad!

  • @elrotenga your right about Mo and Halliday. Theyre not the hardest throwers in the game, theyre only the BEST. and how long have they played? at least 10 years each and Halliday still has alot ahead of him. And for Verlander? he's a perfect example of what taking the elbow above the shoulder will do for you. Dont get me wrong, he's a great pitcher, but he hasn't gone 1 season in his MLB career without being on the DL.

  • show me one good pitcher in the pros that does this

  • show me one that doesnt do this

  • This is good for younger pitchers, but when your older if your facing a good hitter they will pick up on what pitch your going to throw easier

  • My wrist wasnt directly behind me and i had been throwing only 82 i increased my velocity to a consistent 85 with this tip. hes right it gives you more power

  • He's right about wrist position, but elbow height is just a matter of how you learned, personal preference. While overhand like that is probably safest, it's just up to you. Nolan Ryan had an extremely durable arm that could stand up to a lot of abuse, and he had impeccable form, along with incredible core and lower body strength. You have to remember that not everyone is a power pitcher like that, and it took him ages to learn control. Just relax and take it at your own pace.

  • This helped me fix my pitch (wrist pointing away .. and elbow higher).. thanks!

  • @Veilz DONT DO THAT! it will hurt your shoulder and elbow!

its NOT the right way of doing so!

just look at Gregg Maddux pitch, THATS how you should keep your elbow and wrist.

  • Come on. You don't want to point the ball towards second base, you want to have it facing third base (if ur a righty), pointing it towards second adds stress to your UCL (hey, tommy john). Secondly, you do NOT want to keep your elbow above your shoulder because this does NOT add velocity. If you need proof, check out Nolan Ryan's mechanics/arm action, arguably the best pitcher of all time, see where his elbow is.

  • Ok. I checked out videos of Noland and guess what?? His elbow is even or slightly above his shoulder. Very few good pitchers will drop their elbow below their shoulder.

  • THANKS! IT IS MY WRIST! NOT ARM!

  • TY ON THE WRIST THING :)

  • check out my pitching video

  • wow one of the only few instructional videos on youtube that actually helps thanks

  • AHA so thats why i wasnt pitching right xDD thanks for the help :P

  • thanks this helped me soooooo much

  • thanks that really helped me alot

nobody told me to keep my wrist back

no wonder i wasnt throwin as hard as i was tryin

  • The wrist!!!!! That was my problem.... had like 3 years w/o playing, just restarted and no video or person couldnt tell what was my problem.... Thanks!!!! Excellent Video

  • Nice video and accurate...some videos are not correct. This one is..Beginners should listen to this one.

  • @joia5 No pros do what this guy teaches. They don't show the ball to center field and they don't get their back elbows that high. The reason is that this increases the risk of elbow and shoulder problems.

  • great easy instruction for beginning throwers
