i have a very large arachnoid cyst about the size of a large grapefruit, i havent had any symptoms lately aside from the occasional migraine/dizziness.. its in the frontal lobe.. on the right side...
@efe122 i have one too :/ knowing that i have one its frustrating, i never knew i have a cysta inside my head untill i got in a fight where i was hited in the head with a strong object , then i went in the hospital they did me a x ray and found out that i have cysta
My son also has a left temporal arachnoid cyst. How are you feeling now? My son ended up getting the shunt because the fenestration didn't work, and it cause pseudomeningocele. He is doing great, back to 100%
My MRI scan looks identical to this. I have the same size and shape cyst in the same spot. Its the left temporal lobe if im correct. Even though its on the right side of MY head. I was wondering what your symptoms were/are. This would be so much help to me if you could share. I have memory/learning problems/ depression/anxiety i was wondering if this is caused by this condition as far as ive read it is...
she has problems with learning, temper, balance, co-ordination, sleep, weak left side, no sense of pain or danger, when fall's she does not try to break her fall she drops like a brick. should i be more worried then i'am and press the doctors more, or do as they want and leave it be? problem is i live in england and they know nothing really of this condition unlike the usa, where myself and the doctors get the information from. please advise as i'd hate to let down my girl as she is fantastic.
I have a 6 year old daughter who was found to have a arachnoid cyst at 32 weeks pregnant, she had endoscopic diolation at 4 weeks old, witch took the presser off her brain, but it remained the same size. she has a mri every 2 year but the last show it had got bigger and they did nothing as its not causing pressure, it now takes up all of the right hand side of her brain. they say they can do nothing as her left hand side of the brain will colapse and cause brain damage.
My daughter has an arachnoid cyst (see video) when they found it at birth the doctors said that they never grow. It was golf ball size then, but by 4 months old, it was almost half the size of her head, compressing her brain. She had mass effect. So you can't always go by what the doctor tells you...you really have to stay on top of things.
an arachnoid cyst is not a tumor. it is a collection of CSF. it does put pressure on the brain and can cause symptoms depending on its size and placement. my 4 y.o. had one that was displacing her brainstem, we had it fenestrated/drained because she was having problems with balance and tremors. Both got better after the surgery.
Hi, I am 19 and found a cyst incedentally when i went into the hospital and got a CT scan and MRI scan. I am worried to death it is in the front left side of my brain. Can a neurologist be 100 percent sure it is a cyst not a tumor? can you die from a cyst?
@falconflyer21 this is probably a little late for the info. but a cyst is a benign tumor. the terrible thing about a cyst is that it blocks the flow of blood and can cause instant death. Just set your mind on getting it removed as quickly as possible. Some people use shunts to remove the pressure but the cyst itself can grow creating more. My wife is in recovery now, she had a craniotomy to get it removed and is doing just fine, just do research to find a good neurosergon since some have
headaches could be related but dont necessarily mean its a cyst. My wife had headaches for a month and nothing made it go away, not even some nasal spray they gave her. (dont know the name exactly) but at the hospital they performed a Cat scan and found that it was a cyst immediately. As to what kind they were unsure, they are basically all the same i guess it depends on location. Hers was deep in her brain, and she had to get a craniotomy. get a scan, at least it will clear your worries
Wow what is like getting it removed? I have a arachnoid cyst the size of a golf ball in my posterior fossa? I have a fullness symptom that i can't get rid of.
I have a "gifted" mind I guess you can say and I now view things quite differently than most people and I relate it back to the cyst. When I was young I first started noticing something was wrong and was hospitalized for a year for intense head pains. After months of testing I was diagnosed. Something has happened to my pain tolerance as I do not feel pain or emotion however. I have broken 5 bones in my life none of which I knew till months after. Its cool
I am 17 and was going to go in the marines this summer. i had fainted and had a cat scan and i found out i got one. i have an eeg on monday. i dont know if i can go in now. i just fill like shit.
my wife had the burr hole drainage surgery herself as well, the doctors told her that it can come back because of the fluid recollecting in the arachnoid cyst, thats why the pain comes back. she is okay, but still gets little minor headaches, she's got to back to the hospital this thursday for the results of a recent scan
hey man, i just found out i have an arachnoid cyst in my brain too.., the doc said its nothing to be worried about.. i questioned and questioned him, and he didnt even tell me what the hell it is, just said repeatidly, dont worry about it. do u think i should get a 2nd opinion?
Hi I understand you too, my litle sister has one too, doctor says isnt't that bad we question and question he says not a big problem, I looked in internet information abaut it and I foun is not too bad but..... why dostors doesn't esplain us exsactly whats going on thay are so insensible most of the time please let me now abaut yoour case my litle sister still waiting for an apoinment in october 2008 and we don't know what will hapend good look
hey, thanks for replying, to tell you the truth, i havent the faintest idea about my case, results came back showing 2 arachnoid cysts. the paper work came back saying, perhaps they are benign. the doc said dont worry about it, not even to get them checked at a later stage. i havent had time to get a 2nd opinion, but i 100% will do it. the doc seemed to be in a rush, and just wanted to get onto another patient. i am secretly worried about it.. but will see how things pan out. thanks :)
i just found out 2 weeks ago i have a cysts on the right side of my brain a few days before i had a seizure they don't know if its related i have an appointment two go see an neurologist at the end of july im scared they might have 2 operate.
I am so amazed to find this video. My son was diagnosed with having a left temporal arachnoid cyst 8 years ago (he is now 15) I used to look it up online, and couldnt find any thing so i gave up. Docs told us there is nothing they can do for him. Headaches, dizzy, nausea, learning issues, hands not working, balance issues, attention problems. I saw this and just started to cry....thank you for sharing.
this is really beautiful. i would like to know more about how you made it and if i can get a copy. what a heroic surgerical endeavor to go through. im glad you are okay.
i was diagnosed with one two days ago.....it explains every single medical problem i have had for the last 7 years. I get numbness in my legs, constant headaches, buzzing in my ears, dizzy spells and in March, i lost the hearing in my left ear completley, which did come back. 7 years ago, when the problems began, it was suggested i had a sleeping disorder, but it turns out i have an arachnoid cyst. I have to go see a neurologist and she will tell me whether or not to take it out.
thank you for posting this but especially for your comment above. I have the same diagnosis, and my dr has advised against the surgery for the reason you state, prolly will not be better off and could be worse. I get lots of pressure from friends and family who don't understand. They think if there's a surgery that can fix something, why wouldn't you do it? As if I enjoy the pain I have and am just choosing not to have surgery because I'd rather take sick days from work!
operation apparently went well...but since then i have had a constant head ache.. 2 years 24/7 and i never had that b4. and the cyst is still the exact same size, so in my opinion it was an absolute failure, if i could go back and not have anything done.. i would. having an operation majorly effected my life, having a cyst minorly effected my life
That sounds pretty tough. Perhaps there is something they can do about the pain, a nerve impinged somewhere or something. I imagine though you have probably asked more than a few questions to the doctors. I hope things go okay for you.
if i may reply..the liklihood that there is a pinched nerve on or around your brain is almost impossible. there is actually very little if not none at all nerve endings or structure within or around your brain. the pain is more likely coming from there still being pressure from the mass pushing against outside tissues.
ever since the operation i have had a headache, constant 24/7. and thats been for close to 3 years now. so operation wasnt sucessful, it made me worse.
