I have been a fan of Foreign & Independent film since the early 1980's (my late teens) and you learn to dodge hype when it comes to 'acclaimed' films. TINY FURNITURE is a prime example. It is a comedy that possess ZERO laughs. It is a showcase for this unexceptional filmmaker's obvious narcissism. I rented this as it was a Criterion release, and now I wonder why they/I bothered. The film and everyone in it, especially it's creator, Lena Dunham, are just boring. Who green-lighted this garbage??

I LOVED it and you can stream it on Netflix so not a huge risk to watch it....I think it's a courageous depiction of a confused girl who just emerged from the cocoon of college and is not sure where she is going.....contrary to what many of the comments here assume, it's quite clear that she is self-aware as she presents an unsentimental, slightly fictional version of her world....and doesn't try to make herself look good or clever....but rather flawed and real like the rest of us

I can relate to that. Also the script has its moments, it is witty and pretentious and not one of the girls ever combs her hair. I enjoyed it.
