I have a Go Phone sim that is actually used through AT&T as a regular sim card on a regular plan. But when I put it into my iPhone it says "No Service." How come?

@MathieuCore2 As he had shown, you only need a SIM card if you want to use it as a phone. The phone itself is capable of doing everything it normally could, besides texting, internet, texting, etc.

Right now i'm using an iPhone 3g without the sim and it works without it. ( I can't text or call) What I'm saying is that I can use the Internet , download apps , play apps etc *only when you have wifi conection*

@EvokedRose uh it might help if u buy a card and follow the instructions, if u can't do it on the iPhone(which I highly doubt u can't) then try it in the go phone and put the sim card into the iPhone. Hope it helped

(cont*) I reset it without the sim card in it (until it said there needed to be a sim card, then i put the gophone sim in it) and I let it go through the process. In itunes when it asked for it, i selected to restore my settings so i'd keep all my games. Now I get an activation error. It says "Waiting for Activation" and it has been like this for hours. Still, no signal. What am I doing wrong? What can I do to fix this?

@DJaDRiiaN Make sure you restore the phone on itunes first. It will ask for a pin, or to activate the phone after. Just put the sim card in and click activate if there is a message up.

@NASCMI I just did it with a first gen ("2G") iPhone. However, I had to use one of the "unlock" methods (as I would to make it work with a non-AT&T network such as T-Mobile). I'm not sure why, because GoPhone is an AT&T service. It may be because my iPhone uses the latest 3.1.3 software (released after this video), or there may be regional differences in how GoPhone service works. Anyways, I'm happy with my "GoPhone iPhone" (basically used as an iPod touch that can make phone calls).

@yoyoyoromo It should work just fine. No jailbreak needed. Just be sure to restore it before putting in the SIM. And it wont charge you anything, every now and then it just says that there is no subscription to the data service. Some people have been having trouble with this lately. I don't know why mine still works fine. Hope it works for you! Let me know what happens.

you can use the iphone without data you can buy the data on the gophone mall. when you call 611, and you can refill your account without having to call 611. you just pull type *888* your pen number that came on your card # its alot faster.

The only thing I would recommend is to (1) Connect the iphone to itunes, (2) Sync the iphone with your library (3) after sync disconnect and restart the iphone. (4) Connect the iphone back to itunes and do a restore. (5) put in the go phone sim and see if it works. Let me know what happens and we can go from there......

If you want to buy an iphone 3g without a plan it will cost about $600. (If you are going to spend that kind of money but it with a plan for 100) I would scavenge the internet and find a great deal like i did, 250 bucks for a practically new iphone with one year of warranty left. You may not be able to find the same deal as i did but you should be able to find one pretty close to that.

I would buy used, because that is what worked for me and others. But it is up to you.

Yes it can be a 3g. The iphone must be activated. But in case it doesn't work, start with a lower price plan then if it works buy the $60 plan.

You CAN'T use the media net packages with the gophone. If you use the iphone with the gophone sim you cant get access to the data plan BUT you can still connect to wifi hotspots, message and call people.

Gophone does have a unlimited plan for $60.00 a month. But thats a little high for me. I rarely talk to people that's why i use the gophone service.

I got the iphone on craigslist, Used for $250 . Which was a great deal. You can go online at wireless hot spots (like starbucks) or a home wireless network. This is possible because like the itouch the iphone has a built-in wireless receiver.

And yes, as long as its AT&T you can just put the SIM card directly into the iphone.

I don't think there is anyway you can use media net with the iphone. I even researched it. I couldn't find a way to use it. If I do ill let you know.
