I was at this concert. I managed to see them again later on. Both shows stick with me. I wasn't a Smiths fan prior to this show, as I did not know much of their music. I was lucky enough to have been at that concert... 2nd concert I had ever been to. Although, I believe it was at Irvine Meadows Ampatheater in So. Cal (now Verizon Wireless). The concert was stopped early because too many people were being pulled up on stage. Still, I consider having seen them play only 10 or so songs the high point in my concert- going experiences over the years!! Makes me want to find my old ticket stub and setlist... I know what he did. The "surprise" is playing that part on guitar rather than using the mandolin. That's all i'm trying to say. I'm not alluding to some impromptu solo piece that Marr busts out with during some surprise encore, although it may have seemed like i was. Haha.

If Craig Gannon was touring with them, I guess he could have played Marr's guitar part and Marr could have just stood there, until the mandolin bit. But who's going to take an instrument on tour, to be used 20 seconds everynight, for a song they may or may not perform each night?
