  • 6:23 is priceless Harvey Korman!

  • "Up in the attic Ellen ANGEL"

  • I wish Mama was still on TV!!!

  • this is sooo funnnnny

  • Lol! I like that look Eunice gives Ellen @7:30

  • LOL! "That's a rabbit? I always thought that was a kangaroo."

  • whenever i see you i think of septic tanks ha ha

  • Why is it that nearly every show I remember fondly had Betty White on it?

  • thanks for posting these episodes. this was my favourite skit in the show...so brilliant even 30+ years later.

  • Betty White is a Jill of all trades. She can play dumb like Rose Nylund on the Golden Girls, or she can play a rich bitch like Ellen Harper, both here and on Mama's Family. Either way, she's brilliant.

  • @OMalleyDoubleOhSeven Don't forget neighborhood nympho Sue Ann Nivens on the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

  • wow look at Betty looks so young here

  • @TheFoxSays Hummmm could it be because it was DONE OVER 30 YEARS AGO? IF you leave HVTP (happy valley trailer park) there is another whole big world to see.

  • Definetly wish they had made more Eunice Skits back in the day. So hilariously tragic this Damn family is. How you gonna cook and eat poor Eunices lil rabbit? Mama was so cold blooded to Eunice.

  • Thank you so much for uploading these Mamma episodes!

  • Four clueless individuals who DO NOT understand anything but rigged "reality shows" don't like this! SHame!

  • Carol Burnett should have been cast as Aunt Pearl on Hannah Montana!

  • God, Eunice reminds me of my aunt. LOL. In fact, apart from the fact that they don't look anything alike, in terms of personality they're identical.

  • betty white is "hot" now, maybe because she is the last "golden girl", but she was great before.

  • @Knitonepurl2 Classic bitch if you ask me....

  • @Knitonepurl2 Betty White Was & Is Hot & SEXY!

  • @ThePaddyjoejr1 As strange as it may sound, I actually agree. I almost didn't believe it was her at first! Extremly talented to this very day and still has it going on! Go, Betty!

  • @SecretSeduction06 Fuck no. Carol Burnett deserves better than to be in some shitty Disney show!

  • durring when Eunice was asking which 1 is me, i thought why dodn't u know how u look they ought to have mirrors back then right for herself to see

  • In "Mama's Family" this room was Buzz's bedroom!

  • No mention of Vinton

  • EIther "favorite SKIT" or "ARE 'The Family'"

  • God, I hope Betty White never dies!

  • @kmclone86 Same

  • This is what "real' comedy and drama was all about! They developed charaters and made you really love them sympathize with them and laugh at them all at once.

YES THAT'S RIGHT PEOPLE, THEY DID IT ALL HERE FIRST, THE DRAMADY!!

  • They make references to living in "Raytown" in several episodes, and there's a Raytown in Missouri near Kansas City.

  • Do we know what state this is suppose to be in? I thought maybe Arkansas or Tennessee. I love this cast too! Seth

  • @sethmarsh3 I always wondered tha. I figured from the accents it had to be the south. People from Arkansas do thse things they do with their syllables and slur their words so I would give it to Arkansas.

  • @ninetiesbaby10 I always thought the show was Oklahoma or Texas.

  • @sethmarsh3 Sounds like people I know in Texas.

  • Carol is so great as Eunice...she always brought a smile to my face in doing this skit. Such a great comedy/family show..whatever happened to good ole family fun/shows like this? Great stuff..thanks for posting.

  • I love the way Eunice tries to "suck up" to Mama then Mama puts her in her place

  • This has always been my favorite family sketch. I'm on the younger side (wasn't alive when it was done, but I really wish I had been.) Some of Carol's facial expressions when she's fighting with Mama and Ellen are absolute genius.... And it was so clear that Vicki was en route to stardom and would be playing Mama Thelma Harper for a long time to come.

  • Harvey Korman was a master! "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, ol' lady!"

  • one dvd of this show costs $19.95.. but i promised its worth it.. hehe

  • Whenever I see you I think of septic tanks..ROFL~~!! LMAO~~!! Good ole family fun/comedy...whatever happened to this stuff? Wish someone like Carol Burnett would start up something like this again...What memories..thanks so much for posting.

  • The Incomparable Betty White!

  • I grew up watching this show with my grandma and we used to laugh ourselves silly. As I got older I realized how much ground breaking Carol did on tv as a comedienne. AND as a dramatic actress, she got a Golden Globe nomination as best actress for the film "The Life of the Party", a true story. I'm posting for other fans in L.A. who might want a chance to see her in person, she's hosting and will do a Q&A after.

Go to friendly House LA (dot) o r g to see an invite.

  • Who's ellen? thats not betty is it?

  • @LUVMC27 That is the great Betty White (aka Sue Ann Nivens on MTM).

  • 4:20 If you want to know the TRUTH ABOUT FLUFFY....... Watch 'Eunice Special, Part 8 of 9'....Shocking secret revealed!!!!

  • Although he was a recognizable character actor, Harvy Korman never truly got the credit he deserved for being one of the most talented entertainers and comedic actors in show business. R.I.P.

  • Well, I sure wouldn't let Eunice handle

    my records.

Read Vicki's biography. She says many times

how grateful she is to Carol Burnett. Also

says Harvey was a master of sketch comedy

and taught her a great deal.

Tnx 4 the painfully funny post.

  • betty white is the queen, cant wait till she host SNL. i miss mamas family

  • I have recently bought the first season of "Mama's Family" on DVD and I love it. My favorite episode is the one where the family stars on Family Fued. Who's behind me?

  • That's obvious

  • Every family sketch and episode I've ever seen that features Ed, ALL he does is YELL everything he says. Am I wrong? Isn't that a classic sign of bad acting?

  • "whenever i see you i think of septic tanks" lol that had me rolling

  • This truly is one of the most wonderful examples of sketch comedy ever. Sadly, it's a dying art and other than SNL and MadTv, there is no decent television sketch comedy left. What made this so unique was it's brilliant character development and hilarious script. The ones with Betty White are absolutely priceless. "Three dragons" LMAO

  • i'd love to have all of "The Family" skits on DVD

  • mama's accent is so thick! i like her voice better in mama's family

  • Nope WeddingProducer - Mama's Family is from these sketches. This is from the Carol Burnett Show. Hint: Mama's Family does not come on TV Land, the Carol Burnett Show does.

  • When I was in university back in the late 70s I knew a couple of girls who lived for this show; they were always quoting from it in the atrocious Mama and Eunice accents -- which we Canadians find doubly funny. Sometimes they would just talk like that all day. This stuff inspired them!

  • @KaptKan1

there accents are more southern like maybe oh tennesshee

  • Eunice and Mama sounds very Texan. Ed's accent sounds more deep South. Ellen's accent I"m not sure, sometimes it sounds Texan and sometimes more Deep South.

  • yeah, but carol burnett is from texas.

  • To me, deep South accent is more like Paula Dean and the accents in the movie Gone with the Wind. Also, Rue McClanahan who played Blanche on Golden Girls - that is a deep South accent. You know, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee. The Texas accent is different.

  • well, there's the country accent, paula dean, then there's the southern accent, gone with the wind. i'm from kentucky. i know the difference well.

  • @ServusGrueziHallo Ellen sounds more like a Virginian to me.

  • I say this everytime! But I think its fabulous that Vicki can act the mother of someone 16 years her senior XD

    and of course, vice verse

  • Poor Eunice. Sad and pathetic.

  • If Tennessee Williams had written comedy, this would have been it.

  • 7: 00 don't you love how Eunice sucks up to Mama and gets shot down.

  • "I don't know why it is, but whenever I see you I think of septic tanks!" Lmao.

  • There are no comedians like these anymore.

  • @xenafan234

GOD I miss those comedies! Now its all toliet humor more toliet humor and more toliet humor

  • Part of the issue is that the WRITERS have passed on, so with out the Writers you have the CRAP that we are force to indure today! just look at how utterly crappy SNL is now a days!

  • yeah havent watched Recent SNL in years! and I mean YEARS

its sad this type of comedy is gone

  • I still use ed's phrase. "DAMN DRAGONS"

  • 1:37 with Ed is hilarious LOL

  • Carol Burnett was great. I remember one sketch where she played a secretary and it was hilarious. She was just polishing her nails, going to see her boss when was not need it... Awesome!!

Great humour without needing to offend anybody.

  • Those were the tudball & wiggins episodes. My faves.

  • OH GOD I LOVED THAT ONE! and Tim conway was the businessman right

  • Those were the days!

  • yes they were

Comedy has gone down hill since then

  • Great sketch on the Carol Burnett Show. Thank You.

  • Trust me - my older sister, Kirsten, was the spitting image of Eunice. One time on vacation, I called her out on it in front of the family. Well, at 15 - I was the only one laughing because no one wanted to upset her and risk another tantum. lol She has never forgiven me!

  • You know, these sketches are funny on television, but in reality, these characters would be insufferable!

  • Was this the first appearance of Betty White as Ellen?

  • Maybe so, but that's what makes her hilarious!

  • It's just what maes Eunice so funny. She isn't a bitch, she's just an oddball

  • I love watching the Family sketches. I especially love watching Carol Burnett as Eunice and Vicki Lawrence as Mama. Noone plays Mama better than Vicki. Thank You.

  • the sketches from the carol burnett show were so much better than the spin off they did of it!

  • This was on the Carol Burnett Show right? Thank You.

  • Carol Burnett as the best as Eunice. Thank You.

  • I miss this episode of the Carol Burnett Show. When did this air? Thank You.

  • "I swear no matter what I did I never could please that old biddy."

So Thelma's Mom was the same to her.

  • Carol was great as Eunice.........simply brilliant acting

  • Carol Burnett ,,,Eunice,,takes the gift Lucy Ricaccdo ,gave us and Kicks it up a notch,,,,Before Rosanne,, before the Bundys,,,Before ugly Betty,,, there was Euncie,

wait till she finds out what happened to fluffy,"RABBITKILLER"!!How could you not love Eunice.

  • Carol Burnett is so cute

  • Betty White looks like Debbie Reynolds.

  • Ellen and Eunice are both self-centered, but Ellen is stuck up and arrogant on top of it.

  • But who doesn't adore betty white??

  • everybody loves betty white

  • The Family really needs some good Intervention! I love the Family Skits! They are absolutely priceless to watch!!!

  • Poor Ed! He always gets abuse!

    I LOVE this family!

  • What do you expect, crusnikgal01? He's married to Eunice. A mean, crazy, selfish, tempermental woman.

  • thanks for posting all these. i've been laughing my ass off.

  • don't look a gift horse in the mouth, old lady!! hilarious!!

  • THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS !!!!!!

  • For all the old-timers like me out there, remember the CBS Saturday evening lineup in 1973? All in the Family, M*A*S*H, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, the Bob Newhart Show, and at 10 the Carol Burnett Show. I remember it well!

  • tmattrope, "Mama's Family" started as a semi-regular skit on the "Carol Burnett Show." After that went off the air, "Mama's Family" began as a half-hour show. You're right that Carol Burnett only appeared occasionally on the half-hour sitcom, she was of course in every "Mama's Family" skit on her show.

  • Rest in Peace Harvey.

  • hilarious i love all these skits i enjoy it more than mamas family this has more dramatic comedy which makes it funnier in my opinion cheers for uploading one of my favrites of the skits

  • U DAMN DRAGONS!!!

  • Rest in Piece Ed

  • ☆☆☆☆☆ i love it.

  • "mem-o-rab-lee-uh"...

    a pre-W bushism!

  • Thank You, scrooed2. I was going to point that out myself. Thank You.

  • My favourite of the old sketches so far! Having seen sketches and the Eunice film, I still like Mama's Family best. And Eunice's pathetic, drunk ass is my favourite. In fact, I'm drunk and Eunicing out right now.

  • Betty White is NEVER the bitch! lmao!

  • Betty Whites adroable, but shes a bad ass! did you see here at the william shatner roast???

  • lol, actually I didnt. Is it one youtube??

  • mhm loo up Betty White and its the first one

  • Actually Betty White ALWAYS played a bitchy part, I think Rose Nylund was her first sweet character.

Didn't you see her as Suanne Nivans on the Mary Tyler Moore Show?

  • I didn't think she was necessarily bitchy on "Life with Elizabeth".

  • Oh yeah that was so funny!

    George has tasted the nuts!

  • These early episodes are the best. After it became a series in the early 80s Mamas character was really watered down.Alot of the sarcasm and cruelty disappeared.

  • I loved Betty White's costumes on the TV Series version of this skit. Everything was pink if I remember correctly.

  • I don't remember Ellen being dressed in pink a lot. When the show "Mama's Family" debuted Rue McClannahan played "Aunt Fran" who was always dressed in pink. In the syndicated version, it was Iola who always wore pink. Naomi always wore yellow. Mama always wore blues and lavenders. Color-coordinated characters.

  • Ellen wore white all the time.

  • yeah, actually ellen's color was beige in the tv version. you may have confused her with fran.

  • my favorite mamas family skit

  • As mama would say GOOD LORD.

  • When these were aired on the Carol Burnett show in the 70's, I thought THIS should be a series all its own. Then in 1981 it happened-it finally became a series, but unfortunately without Carol Burnett or Harvey Korman.

  • Carol was in it.

  • Yeah, Carol at least did the first season.

  • And one episode of season 2 of Mama's Family.

  • Carol made GUEST appearances, she was NOT ever a regular on "Mama's Family". Most people that respond on these boards know NOTHING.

  • I swear, Ellen and Eunice never got along at all!

  • "I dont know why it is, but everytime I look at you I think of septic tanks."

    *DIES*

  • thats a very bitchy comment, lol

  • Chosen to be in the middle?

  • dont look a gift horse n the mouth old lady! HA! WHAT A MESS! THIS WAS THE BEST COMEDY EVER!

  • Great! I love these original "Family" sketches.

  • Carol Burnette & Betty White-Fluffy Fluffy Fluffy!
