I don't understand the hate around here. It wasn't designed to replace a PC, that's just not the idea of it. I bought an 1st generation iPad, and I love it every day a bit more. The design blows me away every time I take it out of the case. All the basic stuff like browsing the web, reading E-Mail or watch videos just makes a lot more fun than on a PC. And I'm not an Apple fanboy at all, it's actually my only Apple product.

If it had: Larger capacity Multitasking USB to transfer files from pc Nice OS WebCam Card reader PDF reader Something like Office to read & writte texts Other ways to connect to the internet A support in the back to make it stand on table... It's funny how many companies hate flash. Apple and MS don't like it, and at one point in time Adobe tried to kill it (when Flash was Macromedia). Yet it survives because people who use it like and Flash 10 does some cool things. Apple uses open source code for Safari so flash compromises their security. Oh no Apple might have to do something difficult besides look pretty.

I was disappointed when apple announced the ipad, although i kinda suspected something like this. This device is beautiful, does the FEW things it does WELL but that is it! People will be overpaying for this device It does so little.Like the iPhone it is designed to squeeze out every possible cent of the user. People take my advice wait out for the tablet netbooks they will do so much more with more space and save you money! And please don't say that i hate macs I love macs i own countless macs!

The down side to the ipad is that you still have to hold the thing. A standard laptop rest on a surface like a table or lap so the user doesn't have to support the screen. The ipad is a very large hand held device, not what you want to be watching a 2 hour movie on.

iFail it is not. Its a stepping stone to the direction things are heading. As laptops get smaller they get more impractical for certain applications; for example reading a book.

This is a step in the right direction and I will definately be replacing my laptop with one of these....
