@turdkurd12 fish don't need light. If you keep live plants, then they will require lighting. Don't worry your fish should be fine.

Несомненно хороший светильник, но по классическим канонам источник света должен находиться сверху у переднего стекла, со строны наблюдателя, только так можно увидеть всю прелесть окраски обитателей аквариума.

Part of what is says is true. With flourescents they lose intensity over time so most aquarists change tubes after 6 months if using a planted tank. As for length of time to light a aquarium between 8-10 hours is all you need at the most a day.

you dont need to have that glass piece of under the tubes. as long as the water doesnt touch the tubes. also you dont have to change the tubes every year but annually.
