  • in the exact place were yoou threw the salmon you should of went fishing

  • very big fish!!I really want to catch one and fillet it!

  • its me...THE SAMMON..wht did you cut my head off....im going to get you...

  • Holy shit!!! Spend some money on some good knives!! That was torture watching you go through that.

  • Talk about fresh sushi. can't get any better than this...

  • I'd go fishing there, but ever since Sarah Palins Alaska first aired,I vowed to never go again -.-

  • thats when the fish seen that skeleton... and got the fuck as far from that dock as possible

  • His hands must be freezing!

  • lmfao i love ur nife

  • funny thing though, that dude was complaining aobut someone wasting meat, and then he threw the head and skelton in the drink, wasting several pounds of great meat!

  • WHAT A FISH! I caught my first one this year, but he was only about 1/5 of the size of this one! WOW!

  • I'm never eating fish again.

  • Thats alot of meat, nice catch man

  • so you start from the bum hole! Yum

  • born and raised in kenai.... that fish is worth a grand or more at a legit fish market.

market price on whole wild ak kings (troll caught #1) is $21.99 today (gets as low as 12.99 whole but only 1 month) when i cut fish of that value every cut is very intentional... go to the fish markets ask your fish mongers for the salmon collars. $1.99 a pound salmon collars are the fattest part of the fish great for broiling smoking and soups.. two salmon heads for a buck makes the masarap sinigang...

  • You know if that king salmon was sold at a fish market it would be about $500 or more. You are lucky you get that for free. Well kinda.

  • That's a WHALE!!!

  • That's a good catch n release :-D

  • it looks like the fish is thinking wtf

  • Salmon mmmmmmmm

  • This king is caught on the kenai river. prob by some guide near eagle rock where most guides fish. Biggest kings in the world come from the Kenai River on the Kenai Peninsula in AK.

  • What the hell did that Salmon eat?!?!?!?!?! Guess it's not called "king" for no reason!

  • Mygawd that's HUGE, I want it.

  • damm!! this is making me hungry. dude that head is good for soup! you have no idea..

  • no its not. the fish is a high activity fish, which means the flesh is very oily and would not make a good stock

  • I see your point but actually there are great fishhead recipes. I cook salmon heads in soup called sinigang. Its amazing. There is meat behind the flesh ie cheeks.

  • Hell, man, u threw that fish head away.....that's delicious dish in Japan. We Taiwanese people love to grill the Salmon heads, man, that's delicious, especially the meat on both checks, they are WHITE in color, very sweet and tender! Don't waste such a good material next time u caught them. Or u could cook it in Japanese style in MISOSILU soup. U gonna love it.

  • yeah i grew up in alaska and my mom always made us save the head. The cheeks are delicous, and plus their is a lot of other good meat on the head even the eyes. I do prefer i nice king salmon steak though with my moms bbq sauce

  • Zomg this is not how you fillet a king. Try a straight edge knife. A serrated knife is for sawing a straight edge is for cutting.

  • thats a huge salmon

  • whats the stuff that looks like spaghetti?

  • a worm infestation. but they're safe to eat, it goes into the meat and turns invisible. all salmon have it so you've eaten some. haha. just kidding. it's an internal organ. it's attached to the intestines and stomach, we think it's for digestion.

  • what part of canada do u live.

  • lol

  • In candian in alaska Got big Salmon

  • im hungry now - feel like grilled salmon

  • nice vid, and nice fish :) .. but i know a faster/better way to do it ;:)

  • thats a hog

  • thats a really big fish.

oh and i can't forget the knife

  • Now I want to eat some Salmon! LOL Good catch! Good video!

  • why dont you just fillet it down the back instead of the stomach? it so much easier that way

  • post a vid man

  • man that thing is huge!

But I have seen some that even got bigger dude!

I bet you would have won A derby around here if you entered!

  • i heard they have stations on the river were you can just take your king to the station and they'd do it for you thats freakin awesome my friend just was up in alaska this past summer and he said the kings are phenominal

  • beautiful salmon

    now i want sashimi :p

  • it should only take you about 2 minutes to do a damn filet if ya been doing it for years like me. its easy

    nice fish man!!!

  • Thanks. He wasn't racing. As you can see, we're in no hurry. If he wanted to do it quickly he could also. I will post a video of my halibuts being fillet on the boat....now that kid was fast!

  • was it necessary to gut it? Do you get more meat that way? Either way thats a beautiful fish!

  • Do you have no knowledge of getting the most meat out of the fish...yes, gutting it you get ALOT more meat out of it. Filleting them though isn't the most effecient use of the meat either. But anyway, if you just take the fillets you leave some of the best parts of the fish. Like the bottom strip of the belly, it's the most tasty tender part of the fish. It's really a shame if all people take is the fillet. That's just the native way :P

  • Sounds good to me

  • I don't know...I'm filming, not cutting. I just wanted to film my fish being cut up! ;)

  • @dannylm07 you probly aint filetin no 64.5 pounder neither

  • this man is pro

  • There is a MUCH easier way to fillet; I'll post in the near future how you can save a bunch of time and get a great fillet my way.
