laxwrex, I would suggest commuting if that is possible. Otherwise if I were to go back to UIC, which I would not since there are better choices, I would rent or buy a condo in the area.
I'm sorry but I don't share the same...enthusiasm...when I'm thinking about Courtyard. The building is laced with maintenance problems, bad plumbing, leaky ceilings, an abhorrent rodent problem, among a number of other things.
I wouldn't trust this building enough to protect me from a bad rainstorm. It's THAT terrible.
I lived at Courtyard for a short time. From the day I moved in on the main floor, the carpeting was usually wet from the leaking plumbing. The housing dep't. would not fix anything. I had to move out. Mice were everywhere. They overbooked the dorm and I had to share a single room with another person. Housing staff would not replace light bulbs in the room, so I had to buy lamps just so I could read. The housing dep't. said they would refund my money but never did, so I was ripped off.
