I figuret out a small improvement for the escape route: instead of making the button on the inside of the wall, make a 1x1 hole through the wall which the minecart goes through so you can pick it up on the other side of the door, closing the door behind you.

Thanks. I think with the new halloween update I'll start a new world and make something much bigger. I like this one the way it is, and would have to do some major restructuring to expand it.

I put them in with MCEdit, they'll only spawn pigs. And pigs need to spawn on grass. Distance also matters, I couldn't bury it or they wouldn't spawn, and they won't spawn if you put the spawner more than one block above the ground (you can do a one block space in between spawner and ground and it will work).
