As a cable guy, thank you for posting this. I hope this idiot got fired for not using any safety equipment and making the rest of us look bad. His firing just may have saved his life. Hard hats protect against hitting your head on high voltage lines, and he should have had at the very minimum a lanyard for fall protection, or even a full body harness. @MrCableguyken you're right, however OSHA regulations and company policy are 2 different things. Example being: OSHA doesn't require you to wear a safety vest unless you're working within 20 feet of the road. however most companies want you to wear it 24/7 when you're working. etc.

yeah, the good thing was the pole and tap were reasonably placed, pole looked sturdy and tap was close by, but only takes 2 min to put on safety gear, I almost fell off a ghetto pole when the pole shifted and my latter twisted, i held the strand so me and the ladder didn't fall, I muscled the ladder to a position I could at least feel safe enough to unhook and climb back down....had to check my underwear!! glad I was wearing my belt!!
I am a TWC employee. 1. These are TWC employees, contractors don't use our vehicles with our logo's. At least not in my city. 2. Ever field-ops employee goes through the same safety training and proper PPE use. (Personal Protective Equipment.) 3. Every field-ops employee does an annual test on proper field safety and signs a document saying he understands and knows the penalties of not following the guidelines. So please don't hold these two guys accountable to the entire company.
im a comcast tech and yes this type of unsafe work practice is frowned upon if osha was to catch this the tech would be fined a minimum of $1,000 and the company could be fined $10,000 vehicles r not to be left running unless u r working near it and cones should always be placed i can say ive never gone up a pole without my ppe on this looks really bad especially in the public eye but i would never judge the whole company id judge the worker but it does of course look bad and very unsafe
There is no excuse for any legitimate business to neglect safety issues. Every single time you show up for a service call you are being 'set up' . If you're pissed you got called out, you should be appreciative it wasn't someone from OSHA calling you out. Consider it a wake up call and practice safety guys. No excuse. You just got caught. Does anyone realize that of all the poor cable guy videos on youtube, this ,so far, is the only one Ive seen that the cable guy is doing something wrong. Go look at the dogs biting them, kids punching them in the genitals, customers just being absolute idiots, crawl spaces to climb in with spiders and just plain nasty homes to deal with. Do not blame all Time Warner Cable techs for one stupid man's mistake. Also does anyone else find it funny that this man has time during the day to tape this?

@MrCableguyken you're right, however OSHA regulations and company policy are 2 different things. Example being: OSHA doesn't require you to wear a safety vest unless you're working within 20 feet of the road. however most companies want you to wear it 24/7 when you're working. etc.

aside from the safety cones which i can't tell from the video looks like they are in a drive way which i could be wrong, but if they are in a drive way they do not need safety cones out. if they do it is company policy. 2. i would like to see your fat ass carry a 28ft ladder 100 ft spending 45 minutes just going up a pole with all of your safety gear on. belting off protects you from falling sure but wait till a line falls on your ass and you cant get out of the way cuz your being "safe"

yeah, the good thing was the pole and tap were reasonably placed, pole looked sturdy and tap was close by, but only takes 2 min to put on safety gear, I almost fell off a ghetto pole when the pole shifted and my latter twisted, i held the strand so me and the ladder didn't fall, I muscled the ladder to a position I could at least feel safe enough to unhook and climb back down....had to check my underwear!! glad I was wearing my belt!!

I am a TWC employee. 1. These are TWC employees, contractors don't use our vehicles with our logo's. At least not in my city. 2. Ever field-ops employee goes through the same safety training and proper PPE use. (Personal Protective Equipment.) 3. Every field-ops employee does an annual test on proper field safety and signs a document saying he understands and knows the penalties of not following the guidelines. So please don't hold these two guys accountable to the entire company.

im a comcast tech and yes this type of unsafe work practice is frowned upon if osha was to catch this the tech would be fined a minimum of $1,000 and the company could be fined $10,000 vehicles r not to be left running unless u r working near it and cones should always be placed i can say ive never gone up a pole without my ppe on this looks really bad especially in the public eye but i would never judge the whole company id judge the worker but it does of course look bad and very unsafe

There is no excuse for any legitimate business to neglect safety issues. Every single time you show up for a service call you are being 'set up' . If you're pissed you got called out, you should be appreciative it wasn't someone from OSHA calling you out. Consider it a wake up call and practice safety guys. No excuse. You just got caught. I'd be nice and say thanks instead of name calling. Someone can turn this in. I'm sure this thread will be removed soon as well.

If the people doing all the "searching" of stats of someone who commented on the video are so worried about the video, maybe they work for Time Warner and know they broke the rules more than once and they'll be caught doing something else. As a Time Warner customer, I don't want any of you in my home if there is a problem with my service. If I complain about something you do you might want to come back and "beat" me too. Maybe the city leaders need to know about these videos and threats.

I don't know anybody involved in this mess but it's no wonder the people in Versailles have issues with Time Warner Cable. The rates go up, the service goes down and (as seen here) nobody there cares. The employees don't care about their own safety, the management doesn't care if the employees follow the rules, then they're threatening somebody that probably doesn't have a dog in this fight. Or is it a guilty conscience talking? It's easy to be a bad guy when you're not there.
