I'm glad there are MD interns stating that they have no clue what to do. Some qualified people we have exiting medical school and performing surgeries. YAY!
I'm a medic in the Army..this is a very fun thing to do..... little bit of lidocaine on both sides of the edges and some reassurance and the patient wont feel a thing but a bit pressure..
hi i just started internship and have no clue as shit about what to do, and im rotating surgery first. is this what i can use in the ER for stabbed wounds, gunshots, blows, etc?
@eiaarias -- YES, but since you are an intern, i suggest refer your patient first to your senior for evaluation for possible internal injuries. Salamat na marami!
So not true. I work in a children's hospital ER as a suture technician. The Plastic's residents and attendings use needle drivers for their procedures. I have watched cleft palete repairs in surgery and the surgeon used drivers for his procedure as well.

The first know should be a double throw, and only internist use forceps to tie knots.

The suture (thread) comes in sterile packaging already attached to the needle. Only one piece of suture is used for one needle.

cizasarwar 2 years ago
hold the needle holder in your dominant hand and you stand in a position that is comfortable for you. Make sure you practice good aseptic technique!
