  • Without Leetch, we'd still be stuck in 1940. Fact.

  • LEETCH #1 !!!!! LETS GO RANEGRS!!!!!!!!!!

  • @NewYorkRangers1926 Jeez i should probably read the description before i post a question like that lol

  • Was that the game winning goal.

  • @19PittSteelers33 Nope. Messier scored 2 more after. The Rangers eventually won the game 3-2.

  • @NewYorkRangers1926 Graves scored the second, Messier scored the third.

  • @NewYorkRangers1926 actually graves scored the second then messier scored the eventual game winner 3-2

  • @NewYorkRangers1926 nah messier and graves each scored one

  • @NewYorkRangers1926 Misser & Graves

  • @NewYorkRangers1926 Messier only scored the last goal. Graves scored the 2nd goal.

  • Fuck the rangers

  • fuck ayy none of u fucks can compete on an nhl level of hockey so stfu already its done with lmfao

  • i love leetch he's a fuckin beast i have the hat they wore when the won the cupp

  • this is the greatest ranger goal ever....even if wasn't a gm 7 double ot goal, even if it wasn't the game winner...every ny'er was having nightmares of losing 3 straight and never breaking the curse til this puck went in, then their was no doubt this was the night.

  • go vancover bitchs

  • @TrichaTheShort It must suck to lose in a Game 7 AGAIN.

  • @NewYorkRangers1926 These Canuk fans dont like to lose...but what kinda people go out and fuck up where they live cause a team lost? Thats borderline insanity....beware these people.

  • @NewYorkRangers1926 And to riot and trash your own city cause canucks are sore losers AGAIN.

  • Haha, so what this is saying is Vancouver's goalies are all chumps no matter the year.

  • Man watch how fast the goalie moves and how much time the player had to sink it in an open net. The speed of hockey players and goalies has improved immensely since then. You can really see the difference from between now and then.

  • @Spudst3r wrong

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO111

  • Nucks are guna win

  • new york should have not won the cup the refs won the cup for you ........ Go Canucks Go!!!

  • @MrCaptainkevo NO the Rangers deserved the Stanley Cup that year. 'Nuff said.

  • @MrCaptainkevo Stop crying about the officials from 17 years ago and concentrate on this year. Vancouver is the overwhelming favorite and has no excuse to not take home the cup this year.

  • @MrCaptainkevo The Rangers had just as many crappy calls go against them in this series as the Canucks wtf are you talking about?

  • In relation to this, I should also add the 1995 Rangers... And, there likely were/are at least a few other noteworthy #8 seeds that there have been in the entire history of the NHL's Stanley Cup Playoffs...

  • Damn! Proud to be related

  • @Kyleleetch56 nooo way!!! thats awesome. what a player and what a pro. my favorite athlete of all time. lets go rangers we guna upset caps in first round.

  • That's my uncle! :) the rangers need talent like that these days!!!

  • how does he score this goal that calmly in a very big game?? any1 else wud miss the net

  • @nyyNYR2094 gonchar wud of shot that 1 wide

  • Nothing like Mr. Gary Thorne

  • i was born on this day my dad wanted to name me mark messier

  • @grr61594

i was born the month before, and i am glad i dont remember this game.

  • Leetch's 2nd cousin's brother in law's neighbor roots for the Oilers. I think. So technically there are some ties between hof'er Brian Leetch, and the Edm. Oilers. Add him on the list with the 2 guys who made it all happen. Mactavish and Anderson!! Now Graves. The kid plays on the 4th line ("the energy line") in Edmonton!Of course all of the signs of a 50+ goal scorer were there. And If the Rangers really didn't want to taint or ruin their image, they could have declined "Beuk" as compensation

  • @nyyNYR2094 leetch doesnt come close to other defenseman like larry robinson denis potvin bobby orr nicklas lidstrom paul coffey or ray bourque. im not knockin leetch but there were defenseman that were better

  • @lai71690 Considering there's only 5 defensemen who have scored 100+ point seasons. Leetch is one of them.

  • @11DNA11 ur right man

  • Memories....

  • This would have been maybe the biggest chokejob in sports history. Taking into account that the Rangers won the President's Trophy, the fact that the Canucks finished fairly low in the standings, and that whole 1940 thing, this loss would have been one that the Rangers franchise would have never been able to recover from. The Canucks wanted to win Game 7; the Rangers had to.

  • Brian Leetch won the Conn Smythe MVP Award after the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals and on Hockey Night in Canada, all Don Cherry could talk about was Mark Messier this and Mark Messier that. Cherry TOTALLY IGNORED Leetch's accomplishments. Don Cherry absolutely HATES U.S. born players!

  • Leetch. What a player people. Did not rush the shot, pure calmness

  • You're an asshole but you're right. We suck.

  • surfer53: Didn't the Canucks get the powerplay calls in the 3rd period of game 7? I think they got 2, but I could be wrong.

  • @mrklopp I think two in the 3rd. The Canucks scored on one of these in the 3rd (Linden from great passing by his teammates).

&, one in the 2nd, but Linden scored on the delayed penalty call on a semi-breakaway off of good passes from his teammates.

I think that the Rangers got three in this entire game. They scored on two of them in this game.

Disappointing as a fan of the Canucks, but it was 16 years ago now, & it was one of the absolute greatest and most thrilling NHL games & series ever.

  • @GmanGregilla until now. Vancouve / Chicago

  • @SuperBran017 So true, indeed! That, ultimately, was one fucking hell of a series! It's really kind of tough to fathom that a game right after game 6 in that series could've been any more tense than that game itself was, but game 7 in that series was an insane, absolutely tense yet exhilarating game, and so was the entire series, especially when considered as a whole.

As a fair Canucks fan, I have got to say that the Blackhawks were one of the highest caliber 8th playoff-seeds in a conference!

  • @GmanGregilla Wrong, 2009 Anaheim ducks were better. I think the Canucks made the Hawks look a little better then they were.

  • @sportsman1012 I definitely did say one of the highest caliber ones, not necessarily the highest caliber one, but, it could be reasonably considered, at least, one of the higher caliber ones.

By the way, I'm also in agreement with you, to however much extent; though I would also definitely consider adding in the 2006 Edmonton Oilers, maybe even the 1994 San Jose Sharks to a lesser enough of an extent.

  • I love how the rules mysteriously change depending on who's playing. By 1994 rules, that's goaltender interference on the Leetch goal, but that's no surprise to anyone who's been a true hockey fan since 1994. Or maybe you're an American hockey fan from a place where it never snows and you don't know and don't care how hockey is supposed to be played. I can count on one hand the number of uneven calls that changed the series in NYR favour. The Rangers knew the NHL had their backs in '94.

  • I'm sorry? Did you say goaltender interference? There is no contact at all.. zero.. and Graves is not in the crease. Remember the penalty shot they gave to Bure? Remember the 2 consecutive bad icing calls that went the Canuck's way at the end of the game (those were AWFUL calls)...

  • Don't forget the Tikkanen goal that they called off sides. He was clearly on side. But after that, I knew the Rangers were screwed that game. Talk about a momentum swing. And forget about the rule book. If that happened today the goal would be disallowed. It's not like they review off side calls. If that happened to the Canucks. It would be on youtube with super slo mo and some kid narrating how screwed up that call was and the Rangers had the referees in their pockets!

  • @6tbonemmvn77 If Kirk McLean didn't stand on his head in Game 1, the Rangers would have swept this series. And that's coming from a Devils fan.

  • wheeres the interference??

  • And people talk about how the Rangers had all Oiler players...Who won the Conn Smyth? Who was the goalie? Leetch, Richter, Kovalev, couldnt have done it without any of these Rangers products.

  • Graves

    Leetch

    Richter

    Matteau

    Nenchinov

    Kovalev

    Karpotvsev

    Lidster

Friggin Mike Gartner, even though he was traded

just to name a few that werent Oilers

  • Graves was an Oiler.

  • @FAITHandLOGIC ah, i tend to forget that he was an Oiler, dumb me lol

  • Did I direct that at you? If I did, my bad. I must have missed that even though it was first on the list.

Leetch wasn't an Oiler though :)

  • @FAITHandLOGIC Yea he was, but didn't really contribute anything to the Oilers in his short stay.

  • lidster i believe was an oiler also

  • no wait.. im sorry he was a canuck

  • @BillyWagner13 Graves was an Oiler, and won a cup with them in 1990.

  • The screen by Graves, the way he ties up Babych was beautiful. Graves really knew how to play around the crease.

  • That's what I loved about Graves. He got in front of the crease and took any rebound the goalie gave up to score. Something the current Rangers really need to start doing.

  • k this isnt a lie i know some of you wont believe me but brian is my uncle i swear to god my moms sister married him and u can ask me any questions

  • o'neill??

  • I actually waited on Leetch when he broke his ankle as a rook and had a bite to eat in the LI Marriott sitting in a booth in my section...I also got to serve Jacque Demeres when he was with the dead wings and was impressed in that he actually asked me to recommend a wine...he was the most polished iliterate I ever met...wonderfull hockey knowledge and very personable...

  • lol @ the canucks

  • He was something special that playoff run. A defensmen taking control of a game. What a weapon. Wasn't the best skater but what hands and puck control. TOp 3 american born players

  • He was nude in the low slot...Name the 2 better american players...I remember when Bobby Carpenter got his SI cover, scored 50 and did little else...

  • What a classy guy. Met Leetch once and he was all class. And No one could keep the puck in better at the point than Leetch..just when u thought it'd get out, he'd find a way to keep it in.

  • Don't forget his two way play...deceptive skating skills ( no necessarilly speed ) ...

  • I could watch this over and over again. Great goal by a great guy!

  • Leetch was the second greatest to wear #2 in Rangers history behind Brad Park....when does he get honored?????

  • on Monday haha. finally.

  • exactly 15 YEARS AGO TODAY ! The 94 finals were a great series.Cannot OVERSTATE THE IMPORTANCE OF LEETCH'S FIRST GOAL IT WAS HUGE !!!

  • dude, where did you record this off of?

  • A long time ago i found the whole game 7 on google videos. Now i have the 1994 box set, so i take them off their.

  • How did you get the box set?

The Rangers are my favriote team.

Mike Richter is my favriote goalie of all-time.

Lundquvist is my favriote right now.

But I really want the box set I was only 3 when this happened so I dont really remeber it.

  • Order it off the NHL website. 1994 Box set, i'll send a link to your inbox.

  • Try and go back and find one of the greatest Rangers goalies of all time...Eddie Giacomin and research his history....

  • Sorry Richter is the greatest Rangers goalie of all-time.

  • Everyone is entitled to their opinion but you were not even born when Beezer did his thing, JD or Eddie...I've seen all of them since the early '70's ( including Hardy Astrom and Ed Mio! ) and I assure you that Eddie was the best, most loved & respected goalie. I remember listening to WNBC radio when NYR dealt Park, Ratelle & Middleton for Espo but losing Eddie was far worse. Comparable to the Midnight Massacre when the Mets dealt Seaver....

  • By the way I was born at Mary immaculate and went to Immaculate Conception and grew up on 171st stree between the L and the subway...Eddie was the best ever! Park was the best #2 ever....LMK when you grow up a little bit...

  • @MadeFromQueensRapper I have it its sick

  • @MadeFromQueensRapper you can find it online. just go to google search and look under shopping... FYI game 7 is on youtube... the entire game.

  • @NewYorkRangers1926

can you tell me where you got the box set for 94?

I was at the TGIF in Sheepshead Bay taking of all things (a crap) during period 2 of game 7. The best part was trying to drive home to Far Rockaway after they won it.....people were going nuts, firing guns up in air, it was like Mardi Gras.....

  • I miss having a #1 defenseman.

  • dont ever forgive sather for trading leetch

unless he wins a cup....that aint ever happening....where are the players in that leetch trade i would like to know..what a disgrace

  • Agreed.

  • Lauri Korpikoski (was drafted using one of the draft picks we acquired) was the only good that came out of it

i'll never forgive Sather for that trade

  • its a shame leetch should of retired a ranger....i was at his 1st game as a ranger and unfortuantely his last as well

he was and always will be mr. ranger.

he probably would of played a few more years before he retired he wa so good. noone kept the puck in the zone on the power play like him he was all class the best defensman i ever saw play...i caught orr at the end of his career...the rangers still havent had a defensman on the power play since he was traded..

  • i met him several times

he married the daughter of the owner of the restaurant O'Neills, which is right on my block, so he was there very often, along with many of the old Rangers (Richter, Graves, Messier, hell Kovalev too, and Dale Purinton lol) He's a wonderful person, and a great player

  • Korpikoski wasnt even good

  • he was a good defensive forward, but he was a first round pick and didnt play out like a first rounder shouldve. he is still young though, he could excel with phoenix

  • thats true at least we got Lisin

  • wow. look at that scene outside. that's what makes NY so special.

  • i meant leetch also won calder trophy not calder cup. Thats the ahl championship.

  • wat a fuckin shot look at the angle he hit that from very nice

  • amazing. Man. I hope I see another stanley cup come to Ny before its all said and done for me......

  • AHHHHHH, i love this video there is nothing like seeing the joy and jubilation of a stock trader celebrating a goal for the first time at game 7 .......seeing the smile on his face as he stopped in to see the games action and then to top it off seeing the true ranger fan outside the rat hole(msg) counting 2 bills. I Will be so glad to see all the crybabies whinning about tickets prices to the yankeee stadium. Thank your local ceo's kids.

  • haha i also love how once he got the puck, the rangers fans knew it was in.

  • He had such a big space to put it in. And he's leetch, he never misses ;).

  • just got chills..... whatta goal from a great player

  • Yep. Gonchar hasn't achieved anything in his whole career. Leetch won everything. Norris Trophy, Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe.. Need i say more?

  • you forgot one. the calder cup. Leetch is also the last defensemen to have 100 points in a season.

  • The Calder trophy yes (best rookie) and he was and still is one of the games best defensemen.

  • he aint shit, hes the best right now, but leetch was a legend

  • Crosby blows. He is the most overrated player in NHL history, and slowly but surely he is sinking down below the level of the REAL legends. Pick a better hero lame ass.

  • i never said crosby was good..

  • Crosby sucks so much that he was 3rd in points, and no Ranger was within 40 of him. And he's so overrated he a former MVP and Art Ross winner. If Crosby sucks, every Ranger must be atrocius.

  • Sounds like someone is the president of Cindy Crosby fan club- He's a whiny little girl who cries everytime sometime hits him or says a dirty word.. He's like Gretzky.. Only gayer.

  • so setting almost all the nhl scoring records is gay?

    suuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • I didn't know the NHL was all based on setting records- Far as I can recall, the majority of the players in the hall of fame have set no records at all.. Gee wiz.. Besides, Crosby could set EVERY record and he'd still be a whiny little douche- He starts shit that he can't finish and then the refs step in to save him from an asswhooping. Marinade on that.

  • I was talking about your comment on gretzky

    you know where you said

    like gretzky...but gayer.

that implies you think gretzky is gay.

  • Take the Cindy talk away from this video. I hate hearing about that whiny bitch every time i come on youtube "Waaaahh! Make an Announcement to make the hats stop! Wahhh!" If your going to like a piece of shit player like him, at least go talk about him with all the other fans who obviously know nothing about hockey. Ovechkin is better then Crosby, sorry.

  • Hell yeah!

  • its liek comparing kobe to lebron u can't talk shit without the ring and crosby has won everything already ocheckin has never won shit but for himself he's not a teamplayer corsby shits on ovechkin by a landslide look at ovechkin's temamtes fucking semin backstrom green those r the top 15 players in the league crosby had malkin how didn't do shit this yr almost off by crosby by 40 pts nuff said crosby owns ovechkin

  • My favorite ranger ever! Thanks for posting 1926! KUDOS!

  • mine 2, as u can tell by my channel... lol.. no problem

  • great goal...

  • nice

  • nice goal

  • that was a nice cool goal

  • *cough* *cough* gonchar *cough* ;)

  • LMAO, epic fail.

  • shutup lol..

    stupid apple juice =/ lol

  • wow awesome

  • Mclean was so far out of position for this goal it wasn't even funny.

  • yeah, leetch w8'd so long tho... nonetheless goal

  • now becuase of you guys, were a laughing stock ...:P... that ended a ...40 year drought ?

  • LOL,yeah thats true. it was a 54 year drought..... '94 Rangers 'till the end!

  • pshhhh, we can beat THAT...( hopefully not )

  • im sure u guys can ;).

  • we just need new OWNERSHIP...and cliff fletcher needs to find a good replacement for himself....but u guys...6.5 for redden ? .. i would have spent that on jagr instead

  • yeah. I h8 that contract they gave redden it really sucks. we should of saved that and went for campbell.

  • yea but he wanted LONNNNNGGG term... so i dont know if ny was the right fit...

  • that kind of poise is ridiculous

  • I love this...what a goal! What a team! What a series! What a run!

But I cant wait for CcampLI to come on to this video and say something like "wahhhh...the Rangers are Gay...Messier's a homo...wahhhh...Potvin doesnt suck...wahhh...you cant be a Rangers and Mets fan, if you are your a freak...wahhhhh!"

  • LOL, that sir is the quote of the year

  • Thank you and thankfully nothing yet from CcampLI!!

  • dont jinx it lol

  • THATS FUNNY AS HELL AND I SAW HIS COMMENT ON THE OTHER VIDEO HES A FUCKING HOMO rangers and mets all that way

  • The dude has a problem...

he takes it to another level...I mean we all hate the Islanders but he hates the Rangers on a psychotic level!

  • i kno, he hates them to sucha a level tha, he sits home all day and agrues with them. That guy needs to get a job.

  • I wouldn't worry buddy, he doesn't have internet access anymore as they cut off the service to his trailer.

    LGR!!!

  • LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

  • GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh Baby as JD always said, this was a great goal but and even better pass from Mess to Zubov to Leetch, 1994, what memories!

  • yea.... lets hope something like this happens in the near future.

  • what kind of shot is that call? im nnot sure but i think is a slap shot am i right?

  • lol you like hockey, but you don't know what a slapshot is? It's not a slapshot, it's called a wrist shot.

  • hey i said i like watching it not playing it...im not really sure what the moves are called so yea..lol i know some moves but not alot.

  • oh, ok

  • BRIAN LEETCH RULES

  • sure does.

  • this happended 14 years ago today.

  • don't we all.

  • all i can say is that, I WANT THE CUP REALLY BADLY!!!
