I am joining the TN National Guard, but I want to be an Airborne Paratrooper. Do all National Guard states have Airborne units or is it a select few? Or should I wait until I am eligable to transfer to Active?
what do airborne specifically do. i mean obviously they parachute down. but for what. attack a base, rescue people. do they do the same jobs as airborne rangers?
@117MrSmiley air force para rexcue ruscues people. but Army airborne would drop behind the lines before an invasion and take over key targets such as bridges and stuff like that. during D Day, before they stormed the beach, airborne dropped in behind the german lines. i hope that clears some things up for you =)
Take a look at my videos plenty of old army boxing.I am an Ex 59 Royal Marine commando now 50.If you check the welterweight fight you will see me boxing 1983.Add me on Facebook if you want to see my pictures.
@LethargicChaos What would you like them to run in? Combat boots? So when they return to the barracks later that day they can peel off all the new scabs.
@USMilitaryVideos I did it in boots and we lost a LOT of people to shin splints, etc. My pop-in-law did it in '43 and jumped in Normandy, and he said the same thing; the hospital at Benning in those days was full of people on crutches from The School.. I guess you could see running in sport shoes as candy-assed or smart. Depends on your point of view I suppose. I know the boots things made it hard, but I don't know if that made us better or not.
@USMilitaryVideos You run in combat boots all freakin day, break them in, there wont be a problem. Shit, theyre even more comfortable than tennis shoes
once you get into the motion of running its hard to stop running. When I stop running my legs feels like they are going to fall off unless I keep running. For me atleast
82nd is an elite jumping force air assult is different from the 101st the 101st does not jump out of airplane like the c130 air assult is seperate group oh and how do they get up there on 2:12 & 2:13
@ashwiggy1 see the chords hanging above the chute on the tower? they are attached to the open chute on the ground, and your are lifted by the parachute to the top
I graduated Jump School in 1986. Make sure you can run and run some more and always yell "AIRBORNE" when told to and don't quit..........good luck troop
no shit, special forces should be able to do everything within their own unit. because they usually deployed in small units.
its not like ur in a hidden assination operation with 5 crew and u dont kno how to jump off a plane or swim u can call in an airborne div or expect a nice landing pad and strip for for ur air craft.
the 101st doesn't do airborne jumps anymore. the troops now get inserted by helicopters , the 82nd still makes jump from the aircrafts. thats what i saw in another vid , so .. yeah i think its like that ,
the 101st used to jump out of planes to ,but i don't think they do now

Nice to see the good old Army in action. Nothing's more sickening than the special treatment Army POGs receive these days.
However, those recruits are jogging in the wrong shit. Tennis shoes? Seriously?
