Hmm. I suppose we can hope that Sentai gets itself out of its beginning rut. Although, I have to admit, Funimation's current near-monopoly is most disconcerting. Despite not being an anime-fan per-se in Geneon's heyday, I miss the off-beat titles they usually released. It's as if Atlus and NIS stopped releasing games in the U.S., leaving us with E.A. Games...
I'm interested in Sentai's February scheduled release of Skull Man, mostly because of GraplerJMo's review (I'd point you to it, but it seems blocked in the US now.)
The pile is whatever it is. Sometimes I have out related DVDs to watch, sometimes it's just wherever I'm watching at the time.
(I had Eva was out last week to compare the TV to the Eva 1.01 "You Are Not done paying" movie that just came out., just to see how identical it looked. Now that I could jibe.)
Watchoo talkin' bout Jii-san? No such thing as rentin' anime, next you'll tell me you can rent the DVD player you'd play it in, or better yet, a car WITH a DVD player.
I wish I could claim I only bought the "good stuff". Thanks to Netflix and internet streaming, at least I have some idea what I'm buying these days.
In the old days, we'd look at the pictures in Newtype and Animage, pick some LD numbers that looked interesting, call Nikaku in San Jose to ask them to import it for us, and a month or two later we'd get it and find out whether it was gold or dross.
(SPOILER) When "Drop" gets to a moment when they have to decide between fighting aliens or finishing the school play, I actually thought about a similar moment in Sakura Wars. :)
Anyway great review. I was not planning on buying this one, and after that I can say I'm really not ganna buy it lol. Although I LOVE slice of life series with sci-fi backdrops, it doesn't seem to be my kinda show, with all the plot holes and such. Those really bother me like no end.
I've been there. Long stretches of tree-covered valleys and BIG heaps of rock-pile formations. O_o Very pretty in a very odd way.
...and I've seen Blue Drop, but only one episode. The smell of shojo-ai was too strong for me to survive. X_X ...and the headmaster had purple Captain Hook hair. It was odd.
The rock piles are about 20 miles north of this spot, in in foothills of the Poachie mts. Both there & in Joshua T Natl Pk in Calif,, lots of gneiss rocks. (Probably makes soil favorable to the Joshua T.)
The hirsute headmaster doesn't have much of a part. I thought it interesting that there's only one male in the whole story, but he's in charge of the place.
As an incurable romantic, I think a love story on the side is a good thing. But, after teasing parts of the scifi story (which I understand plays out in the manga), this anime just tosses logic aside. You have to go with Casablanca's Boggie on a sense of proportion on love amid war: "It doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world."
Can you please be my new grandad?.

Evangelion? Is that some sort of jibe Oji-san? ; ) And here I thought the pile was made of the anime you've already reviewed.

Would I dare jibe Eva? :)

Ah, then was my warning too late? Or did you decide it was worth getting(/belittling) now anyway?
Alaskaslim 2 years ago
I decided it was worth renting, at least.

I prefer the new world order.

The second I see an anime about space, I immediately give it +1 to it's star rating... :D

Yes, do that. Ironically I asked if they could try to include him in DR 2 days before it was posted. JO then made me shit my pants.
