The recession was caused by massive failures of subprime mortgages that banks were forced to make to unqualified applicants. Those new rules were enacted in the Community Reinvestment Act of 1993 and enforced by Janet Reno's Justice Department. Republicans were cowards for not stopping this legislative nightmare. One more thing, if the government can take private assets from "major" corporations, then what stops them from doing that to "small" businesses middle-class people in the future?

Business are able to make money. The problem is their revenue cannot keep up with their expenses. This is why they're laying off millions of workers. By cutting taxes the government can create breathing room for business to make a profit so businesses can be expanded and more people can be hired. The stimulus bill DOES nothing but create massive debt for public projects ("pork") that will not grow a permanent job base. 48% of Americans voted Republican... none of them are "common people"?

I know what you mean, it Was just like that in Communist China about 15 years ago you get paid weather you are working or not so it bread apathy and laziness in the entire society. It is sad I can say China has the upper hand because it is striving to be come more capitalistic and we are regressing to a socialist regime and maybe even communist if we sink so low.

They have some of the strongest work ethics of any people in the world, certainly far better than the average American.
And you are not even close to "regressing" to a socialist regime. The US idea of socialism is far from what the rest of the world calls socialism.
And why has socialism become such a dirty word in the US?

tuber8440, I believe I can answer that question. The right-wing are very good at "lumping" there eminences together. You saw it in Afghanistan, Bin Laden to Hussein and then all Muslim terrorists and in some gatherings all Muslims. The have, over time, pulled the same kind of stunt linking totalitarian communism with socialism witch of course have nothing to do with one other. Its is a way to scary people away from the world they could have with health care for all and solidarity and freedom.

4. Obama supports the "Fairness Doctrine" that shuts down journalism critical of him & the radical left (Fox News, etc.).

look at singapore. the government there might seem corrupt, but the people are happy. thanks to their strict laws and inhumane penalties, singapore is a safe place for everyone.
the us however has freedom of speech, religion, and guns. What do you guys get? racists, high crime rate, high corruption rate.

f you had paid attention to Obama and listened to him instead of just shoving him aside and ranting about how bad he is, you would understand that he has no intention whatsoever of taxing all small businesses. He will tax the ones which are owned by people who also file the businesses taxes alongside their own, rather than as a sort of separate entity. This is not going to harm most small businesses.
